Interaction with Guests
My husband and I are always available to deal with any issues or provide assistance with activities, restaurant tips etc during the course of your stay.
The Marigny Triangle a funky historic neighborhood just east of the French Quarter, and south (riverside) of St. Claude. It is walking distance to the best restaurants, music, art and so much of eccentric creativity that is New Orleans.
You can walk anywhere in the French Quarter and Marigny area. Bicycle Mikes is a few blocks away and you can rent bikes there. Major bus lines run within blocks. It is about 8 blocks from the streetcar that runs along the river (and can take you anywhere from there).
Have fun! No smoking in the house. I ask that guests be respectful of the house, while enjoying themselves.
We had a wonderful time in NOLA for Mardi Gras staying at Sara's lovely home! My two friends and I stayed in one of her rooms (there are 3 rooms), and it was quite comfortable - just make sure to bring a sleeping bag, because the mattress is big enough for 2 people. The location is probably the best part, being in a safe area, a lovely neighborhood, and walking distance to the French Quarter and Frenchman street. For Mardi Gras it was perfect because we were able to walk over to the Canal street-side of the French Quarter to get in on the parade action, but at the end of the night we came back home to a quieter place to sleep. We are sorry we didn't meet Sara (she was out of town), but her friend Dwight was very nice and took care of us. One thing to make sure and note is that there is only 1 bathroom in the entire house (with 3 rooms). It's fine - there were 8 women staying in the house over the weekend and we worked it out! You just have to communicate with the other people.
Overall, a very enjoyable time and lovely accommodations. Thank you!
The listing description is accurate. I had a wonderful stay there. The place is located in a very convenient place, close to French Quarter and Frenchmen Street. The neighborhood is quite safe. The room is spacious and towel and soap were prepared for me.
I never go to meet Sara but Dwight was very nice. The house is beautiful and in a perfect location for sightseeing and people-watching.
My host (and her sweet dog) was wonderful! I felt very at home and relaxed in this New Orleans home. It is convenient to the fun parts of the city and yet about as quiet as New Orleans gets. It's the perfect hub to rest between romps. Thanks for a great weekend!
I am, to put it politely, astounded, that this listing is allowed to exist. The pictures here are misleading and this place was disgusting to say the least. First, we did not get the room as promised. We were placed in Sara's massage room on the floor which had not been cleaned in month's if at all. In addition to sleeping on this box spring mattress 8" off this filthy carpeted room, the kitchen and bathroom at the best were filthy and not fit to be used. We even disinfected the bath tub with alcohol so we could shower once and we could not get out of the place soon enough. Had we not prepaid for the debacle I would have turned around and left immediately. Apparently, the owner, Sarah was in India, and from looks of the place it is hard to believed she could have lived there at all, let alone do massage therapy there. The care taker, Dwight, was nice enough, but I not sure what his responsibilities, or employment obligations were as the place was absolutely disgraceful. Dirty dishes were in the sink and the kitchen stove and refrigerator were so filthy that they were unfit for sanitary use and the odor was awful. I probably should have complained, but not sure what good it would have done, since the owner was not there. The bedroom were thought we were to be in was already rented out to a party of 3 young men and in our discussions with them proved be of the same opinion as ours as they felt the pictures on Airbnb was misrepresented as the place in reality is nothing like the picture. I am reluctant to even fill out the host feed back as there is not a rating low enough as one star would be too good. Finally, I would have sent this review sooner, but we left on the 30th on a cruise through the Western Caribbean and did not want to spend $100 for the internet to complain. Finally, I believe we are entitled to a refund and this place should be reported to the New Orleans Hotel or housing authorities which ever is responsible for oversight to assure, at least a minimum sanitary standard for occupancy. A decent tent in the park would have a higher level of sanitation than this sorry excuse for a BnB. This is by far the worst excuse for a rental property I have ever been in, and I am 71 years old. I thought I had seen it all, but many of the places we visited in the 3rd world we more desirable than this night mare. And finally to add insult to injury we paid a cleaning deposit which is a total joke as this place had not been cleaned in months if at all. I just want you that I would be very reluctant to ever use your service again, based on my experience in New Orleans.
This place is so conveniently located to all of the best jazz clubs of Frenchmen St which are just a couple blocks away. We felt very safe walking around to/from at night. I think it's important that people who are booking here understand that everyone in the house, including the owners and other Airbnb guests, share one bathroom. It's a very nice bathroom with nice products, but just something to keep in mind. Also, the particular room we stayed in doubled as a massage room during the day so we actually moved in after a couples massage took place. If you have a sensitivity to smells then this might not be the place for you since the room smelled like massage oils. It was a very comfortable room and Sara was a very relaxed easy host. Plus we loved the dog, Ellie. And really the location can't be beat.
I had a great stay with Sarah and her dog Ella. Cute house in a prime location. Easy walk to every sight, bar and restaurant you want. Safe to walk alone at night. Sara's home is true New Orleans style and gives you a lovely local feel. Tip - see what is showing at The Allways Theatre , their Rocky Horror show is worth 5stars! Thank you

About the Host, Sara
My name is Sara. I'm a massage therapist in New Orleans and an international traveler. I've been here for over 10 years and love exploring the city and meeting people everywhere I go. I enjoy having a peaceful home, a sanctuary from all the craziness, yet close enough to enjoy it.
