The 3 bedroom home features all the amenities and comforts you need to feel like home away from home: washer and dryer, wifi, cable TV, large spacious kitchen perfect for cooking anything and everything, backyard redwood deck with an outdoor bar, ping pong table, BBQ grill, and fire pit. The home was designed to be both a refuge of peace and a place for people to come and create memories.
I have a 6 year old German Shepherd who is quite friendly and has made a lot of friends with Airbnb guests.
There is plenty of free parking on the street and smoking is allowed in the backyard. Parking after 8 p.m. is sometimes not available on this block, you may have to park a block away.
We recommend checking out Lyft or Uber for affordable ride solutions from the airport. Also there are van pools parked outside the terminals that charge $12 to $20 but there may be a wait before leaving airport. A taxi is typically around $30.

-There are 2 guest bedrooms, the occupants share the bathroom, which has a very spacious shower well lit by a venting skylight.
-The Guest Information & Protocol & fresh towel(s) are provided in your room on arrival. The WiFi info and much more is provided here. Shampoo, conditioner, body soap, butter, cooking oil, cooking spices, coffee (on request), filtered drinking water, etc., are all provided for guests free of charge.
-There is a bike rental shop 4 blocks walking distance from the house, they charge $10 per day per bike.
-Please do not slam doors at any time; close them gently.
-If you have friends or family in the area you wish to invite here during your stay, you are most welcome to do so.
-Guests have access to all rooms except other bedrooms; laundry, by arrangement; also access to backyard, fire pit and spa. There is a 60" TV in the living room with basic cable setup, plus Netflix.
-I no longer accept guests with dogs, very sorry about this, it is for the benefit of other guests, and the preservation of my home.
Note: The spa is no longer available, it has been permanently emptied; bicycles have all been sold, are no longer available for guest use. For many years these amenities were enjoyed by many, but it only takes a few people who aren't cut out to follow the rules, to ruin the spa water, lose the bike lights, get a bike stolen, etc. etc. Just can't keep up with this anymore (I have a full-time job).
Interaction with guests
This largely depends on the guest's itinerary. Some visitors are out every evening exploring the night life. A few have preferred to cook here. The kitchen and back deck are places where interaction is most frequent, and where conversations may go late, or not, depending on everyone's agenda.
I run my own business and sometimes things are so busy that I am not available to socialize much with my guests.

I get a lot of inquiries asking for information that is already provided. Therefore I encourage the guest to read the descriptions for this listing in their entirety, before sending an inquiry. Thank you!
1. The room comes with ONE Queen size bed. We can also provide a foam mattress or futon for use on the floor, if need be.
2. As mentioned above, the bathroom is not private for this bedroom only, unless the other bedroom is not occupied. There is however plenty of space in the cabinet for toiletries, and a very large shower stall. There is also another bathroom which is always open to guests to use if the guest bathroom is occupied.
3. Guests are requested to advise of their desired or anticipated arrival time, preferably a day in advance, so I can make sure I am here. 7 out of 10 guests do not do this. Which is fine, but please be advised: I work elsewhere during the day, so if you plan to be here before 5 pm and you don't notify me in advance, your room might not be ready.
4. If the Airbnb reservation request you are inquiring about shows the room is available, then there is no need to write to me and ask me if it is available. This is all computerized. The best way to have your booking accepted is to make a booking request. If you make an inquiry, then that is most welcome, however the first party to make a booking request will be the party who is accepted; as this pertains primarily to short notice bookings, please be aware that just because we are in dialogue does not mean I am holding the space for you.
We live the golden rule. Do the same and you will find peace and harmony here.
ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES.
Guests are requested to notify me of their arrival time, to the extent that this is possible, a day in advance of their arrival. If your arrival time is after 5 pm., this is generally easy to accommodate; however, for earlier arrivals, it's important that I know when to expect you, because I work away from home during the day, and need to make special arrangements in advance of your arrival, if I cannot be here. Also, it would be considered very respectful if you would notify me of your time of departure (the day before), so I can advise my cleaning crew when the best time is to come in to do the room change. If you expect to vacate after 11 a.m., it is especially important to notify me of your request, in order to avoid conflicts of schedule. Please do not take it for granted that you can check out any time you like -- even if I do not have an incoming guest on my calendar, check out time is 11 a.m., except by PRIOR REQUEST. Finally, please know that I discourage late arrivals (after 10:30 p.m.). I understand that those coming from foreign countries often do not have any control over this, when booking their flights. That said, it is a great inconvenience to me to lose any sleep because I am waiting up for your arrival. Arrivals after 10:30 p.m. will have to let themselves in, using the digital keypad, without any greeting other than a little barking from my German Shepherd. If you are the type who is extremely phobic of dogs, it is imperative that you do not arrive after 10:30 p.m.
GUEST INFORMATION SHEET
The basic protocol is spelled out on the guest information sheet provided to each guest upon their arrival, including the Wi-Fi network and password. These are mostly common courtesy issues, like not slamming doors, showering before entering the spa; keeping the bathroom clean and towels in your room, and the counter top free of personal effects (drawers are provided). In addition, it provides useful information, such as where to find the hair dryer, free coffee, extra towels for the spa, etc.
Smoking is allowed outside of the house only. There are many places in the backyard and on the back deck, next to fire pit. We are 420 friendly.
Guests are expected to clean up after themselves in the kitchen if they cook or use glasses, etc. There is generally room in the refrigerator and large open pantry, for all the guests' food items; we have a 2nd refrigerator outside, with ample space for such items as beer, watermelons, or what have you.
It is not how many friends you invite here that matters, when it comes to party time. Rather, it is how respectful they are. I once had a guest who had 25 friends come over. These people congregated on the back deck and prepared food items in the kitchen. They were very considerate, did not talk loudly, get drunk, or stay up past 10:30. When they left, there was not one bottle, plate, glass or piece of tissue to be found. THIS is far preferable to me, than ONE single guest, who gets drunk, leaves his beer bottles all over the backyard, tries to build a wood burning fire in my BBQ, and climbs through the kitchen window instead of using the back door. You are welcome to bring family and friends, but I do have a 10:30 p.m. curfew for this type of activity. Also any guest OR friend of the guest using the spa who does not take a shower first, will result in the guest getting a lousy review. This rule needs to be taken very seriously.
PERSONAL VS. COMMUNAL
Shoes are worn in the house, all of the non-bedroom areas are hardwood or softwood floors. Guests may elect to leave their shoes in the entry alcove, if they choose. No high-heel shoes are allowed in the kitchen-dining area, due to softwood floors. Guests will have a room key which enables them to lock their bedroom door when leaving the house.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.

I love the year- round ocean breezes in Mar Vista, a nice little community sandwiched between Venice to the west and north, Santa Monica to the north, Culver City to the east, and Marina Del Rey to the south and west. All of these areas are just minutes away by bicycle, and I have 2 of them which are available to lend out to guests free of charge, as it really is the best way to see the beaches and surrounding areas.
I have come to really love hosting -- I really enjoy meeting people from all over the world, and most guests have impressed me as truly wonderful people. I also enjoy investing my time and income doing home improvements, so most things around the house and landscaping have had an aesthetic face lift.
