A perfect beach island house, with plenty of character. Great location.

My family (of four adults and four young children) love the Katalin's house. The island is amazing. It's like going back in time. Slow pace, unplugged, not to mention full of beautiful scenery. The house itself has everything you need, and can accommodate a wide range of group…

Nice private setting. Conveniently located near library, tennis courts, playground, beaches, tide pools, ferry dock. Love the screened in porch! This house worked great for our family of 4 for a week on the island.

The second week of August is a very popular rental week in coastal Maine so we were thrilled to find Katalin's cottage available our desired week and in a great location on Long Island in Casco Bay. My family of 4 had a very comfortable experience. The cottage is a typical old M…

Katalin was super responsive prior to our trip and provided us a very useful and detailed document about transportation to/from the island, the house, things to do on the island, and more. The house was as described but is definitely, as another reviewer put it, "campy". We staye…

Response from Katalin:
Dear Rebecca, I just got up to the house yesterday,so I was not able to leave a public review, hope you don't mind. Don't worry about the broken table top, it can be fixed. Thanks for leaving the house mostly clean, my only negative is that the toilet was quite gross and the seat cover was broken. I apologize for the sand, I did not notice it when I changed the sheets - I should have shaken out the cover of the mattress, they usually get washed with the bedlinen. You are right that the place needs some work, I can't afford it right now; but I guess/hope you enjoyed your stay just the same. Best wishes, Kati

The vacation home on Cushing Street is excellent. Exactly as advertised. It has a lot of charm and is very conveniently located to a variety of great places on the island. We were traveling with my young son (not quite two), and he absolutely adored the library and the playground…

The house was perfectly located, just a few-minute walk from two beaches and less than a block from the lunch truck serving lobster rolls. Long Island is stunning and a lovely, quiet place to stay. Plus, the hammock on the porch was a terrific part of the experience. I highly …

Response from Katalin:
The house was cleaned before Megan's arrival. She was renting a beach house, and I can only imagine that she found sand on the porch. I warn my renters in my instructions that since we live there often, our own supplies are left in the door of the refrigerator, and our previous guests did remove their stuff before leaving. So I find it highly unlikely that there could have a half refrigerator's full of food left behind. Since I was out of the country, I did not have a chance to check into the condition of the dishes left in the cabinets by the previous renters. In future this will not happen again.
