A simple, classic mid-century home on a quiet residential street in Northeast Portland. We're perfectly located between the 'happening' Alberta Arts and the cozier 'Woodlawn Triangle' and an easy 4 miles from downtown Portland
Enjoy our 2 bedroom/one bathroom home all to yourself. The 2 queen beds and extra couches will comfortably sleep 5. Our kitchen welcomes a cook, please help yourself around and cook up a feast. (But no microwave for the 30 second breakfast.) In season, we hope you'll pick some fresh veggies and herbs from the garden for your dinner. And chances are good there is sparkling water or hard cider on tap.
The open living and dining room welcomes conversationalists and the occasional pianist. Wi-fi and a flat screen TV room available for those pesky rainy days. Sasha the cat will come and go, so please, no feline allergies or bring your Benedryl!
Outside, we're working on an urban garden and orchard. We have 23 fruit trees and berry bushes planted, but it might be a couple years before we're measuring in bushels and stomping on grapes. James is keeping bees and you'll love to lounge in the hammock while watching them gather pollen about the yard. There's a BBQ grill and patio set for summertime dining and the patio. Finally, our shed will safely store your bike, and if you come without, we might have one in your size to offer for the day. After all, going by bike is essential to the Portland experience.

The place was great, was very impressed with how clean, tidy, and comfortable the place was. The owners have impressive taste and clearly take a lot of pride in their home, it shows.
We had a car so location was never too much of an issue, it was centrally located so we could get in and out of the neighborhoods pretty quick.
We were able to rent the entire home from James and Jes while they were away on vacation. The home is lovely and gardens are exquisite! Jes left a long list of items to help us become familiar with the house and checked in with us by phone to be sure we were settled and comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and just five blocks away from Alberta Street and the fabulous shops and restaurants there. This home is in a great central location for sightseeing downtown and surrounding neighborhoods.
We were able to rent the entire house for a photo shoot last week and loved it! Super cute, great yard with TONS of beautiful light. Each room features cute, mid-century pieces including the gas stove in the kitchen. We would love to visit again!
Didn't meet Jes & James because they were away during our stay buy communications went smoothly. The place is great and had everything we needed for our stay and a nice garden to go with it. The location is not very close to downtown Portland if you're not travelling with a car but public transport is near and easy to use. There are bars and shops in walking distance.

My wife and I are building a small urban homestead here in Portland. We have over 20 fruit trees in our yard as well as a large vegetable garden and two beehives. I work for a creative software firm and Jes is an advocate for homeless folks. We love Portland, its rich sense of community, its smart transportation and walkability, and its devotion to good food and drink. We also love to travel, especially with our bikes!
