If you are interested in hiking or mountain biking the federal forest is just six miles from the house. Trails and old logging roads are excellent for biking.
You will need a car there is no public transportation, if you are a very strong biker you can get to town and back without a car.
I rent the front half of my house the back area and portion of the house is private. Also my dogs share the whole yard which is about 3/4 acres fenced.
There is no public transportation. You can get a cab to and from town and if you leave at the same time I do I can give you a ride.

On arrival you will find information about the house, the area, and who to call if you need help or assistance. Having lived in Santa Fe for over 18 years I can suggest restaurants and places to visit that suit your tastes and interests.
Kitty is a fantastic host! She was flexible and accommodating with our schedule. The house and amenities are exactly as described, if not better. The location was ideal for what my girlfriend and I were looking for - close enough to Santa Fe (20 or so minutes) to go out for dinner or something, but far enough out to be incredibly scenic and peaceful. We will gladly stay with Kitty again if we are passing through Santa Fe in the future.
My boyfriend and I just got home from spending 3 wonderful nights at Kitty's beautiful adobe. When we arrived we were greeted by Kitty and her adorable dogs. Kitty kindly showed us around the house and the grounds, and made sure we had everything we needed. The house had everything and more! Kitty had the kitchen stocked with all kinds of goodies that she welcomed us to use.
The house is tucked away in the mountains about 8 mi from town. We had no problem finding the place in the daylight when we first arrived. However, our first night, on our way back from dinner we took a wrong turn an ended up going down the wrong driveway and got our car stuck in the snow. The next morning, we called Kitty and she drove us to our car and even tried getting it out herself! We ended up having to call a tow truck, but Kitty let us wait with her in her warm car until the tow truck showed up. Kitty, you have no how thankful we were for your kind act!
After our first nights fiasco, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Santa Fe and at Kitty's, and really hope to return one day! Thank you Kitty!
Kitty's description of her beautiful adobe home is accurate and she made us feel right at home. The kitchen is large and well stocked and the bedroom is very comfortable. While the home is a bit of a drive from town, the road takes you through what feels like real New Mexico on a slower paced winding path. Kitty herself was very accommodating of our arrival and departure timing. Since there is no cell service it was generous to make use of her wifi and landline.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely adobe home in Santa Fe. Kitty made us feel more than welcome and was available if there was a question. We also loved the fresh 3 cheese bread that was waiting for us when we arrived. The combined large kitchen and sitting area was ideal. Although the double bed was a little small for the two of us, the bedroom was so warm and inviting that the size of the bed was overlooked. It also was a lot of fun to to perfect the French press for our morning coffee. We would definitely return and stay here.
We planned a very last minute trip, and Kitty was helpful and accommodating through our experience. While the home was 15 minutes outside of town, we felt like we had a quiet, and more authentic, experience. Kitty made great recommendations (check out the shed and Maria's for food, and Tent Rock was an amazing hike!), and there were a lot of personal touches we really appreciated, from fresh flowers and eggs to local coffee. As an FYI there is very limited cell phone coverage in the house, but there is a landline we forwarded our cell phones to when necessary. We would recommend this to a friend!
Wonderful space in a very beautiful part of Santa Fe. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
We arrived late but Kitty still met us and gave us a tour of the home. It was very clean and had a lot of character with its adobe walls and contemporary paintings. Kitty had even stocked the fridge with eggs and cream for our breakfast and the cupboards were loaded with a variety of teas and coffees. The location was wonderful - not too far from town, and very close to nature. We couldn't get over how peaceful and quiet it was at night (just some coyotes chattering one night which only added to the experience). The bed was a little small for two, but we felt at home and would be happy to return.
I am from New York but have lived in Santa Fe for 18 years. I have a 24 year old daughter, 2 dogs Aster and Coda, and three peacocks. Santa Fe is a wonderfull place to live or visit. I am happy to make suggestions for places you might like to eat or explore.
