About this listing
My safe, clean apartment is nestled in the charming town of Hoboken, an inexpensive place to stay while exploring NYC. From vintage/antique shops to nightclubs to French cafes, Hoboken has a variety of things to do, especially for young travelers.
The large bedroom has an ample closet for guests' use and balcony. All linens are provided as well as welcome snacks and breakfast food. The space features hardwood floors, brand-new kitchen appliances, balcony and bathtub.
Guests are free to use the living room to watch TV, hang out, and dine. The kitchen is available for cooking and food storage- please feel free to live in the home as if it is your own.
Interaction with Guests
I live in the house but have a very busy schedule and am in and out all the time. I want my guests to feel free to live in the space and use it as they please. I am very hospitable while giving you your space.
Hoboken is a walking town, and if you're up early in the morning you can wave to the firemen across the street and join the hundreds of commuters making their way to the PATH train. Stroll up and down Washington St, enjoying the many small shops and restaurants, not to mention the waterfront with the best views of the NYC skyline and unique parks along the water. In the summer, one of the piers becomes a sunning area where you can sip a cold beer while lounging in one of the beach chairs!
To get here, take the 126 bus from Port Authority/Times Square bus station(15 min), walk 10 min and you're here. Or, from downtown (Chelsea or World Trade Center) take the PATH train to Hoboken and walk 15 min and you're here. Try to avoid commuting during rush hour!
Other Things to Note
There is a toiletry kit available upon arrival for $10. It includes toothbrush, soap, shampoo, lotion, and more options.
I expect that each and every guest will feel at home, have fun and keep the bathroom clean ;)
Smoking is allowed on the balcony only.
Pets are possible upon request.
Great room in a great apartment, close to subway to Manhattan. Hoboken is cool too and great views of NYC
Our stay at Dawn's place was very pleasant. The room size was spacious, neat and fitted with air conditioning (which was handy given the hot weather at the time!). Everything we needed for the 11 days was made available from the get go and Dawn was more than accommodating whenever we had questions or required something and also gave us complete privacy.
The location of Hoboken itself was fantastic. It's a busy place but peaceful at the same time with plenty of restaurants and bars, the variety was also surprisingly great. We often preferred eating in Hoboken rather than in NYC. The pier also provides a beautiful view of NYC during the day and night. Transportation via bus/train to NYC was quick and easy - approx 5min walk.
I would definitely recommend Dawn's place for anyone travelling to NJ/NYC.
A very nice, well prepared room in a lively neighbourhood with a lot of young people and bars, restaurants etc. Dawn cared for a good arrival by giving directions from the airport and making sure I get a key whenever I arrive.
New York City is easy to reach by walking ~ 10 min. to the PATH train station in Hoboken, which is an additional 2,75 $ per ride and goes all around the clock. I would recommend the place to anyone who wants to see NYC and have good alternatives in spending the evenings in local bars or restaurants a bit outside the city trouble as well.
It's really free to stay in Dawn's place. She is so kind and she never bother people. My mom and me had a great trip in NYC and also save a lot of money for living. Nice experience and I'd like to recommend Dawn's place to people who wanna travel in NYC and NJ !
My sister and I had a great time staying in Hoboken. The room was very nice, good size, and clean. It has access to a balcony (shared) with a view, which was great! Just a heads up, it's technically on the 5th floor with no elevator and we didn't pack light. :) We thought Hoboken was really nice, felt very safe, and there were lots of great places to hang out and eat.
Regarding the distance to Manhattan, the walk to the train station was about 10 minutes and the train ride itself was 10 also. The train to and from Hoboken is a separate train system, Path, from the Subway system. Overall, we thought it was convenient and we didn't have any issues getting places.
Our host was always available but never hovered, giving us complete privacy. She went out of her way to help us when we needed it, for example answering our questions about the area, helping us find a pharmacy and a taxi.
The room was as described. It was clean and simply decorated. The queen bed was comfortable. There is a TV in the living room. There is no washer/dryer on the premises. There are 5 flights of stairs, but this is the norm here.
I was completely surprised by the change in Hoboken since my last visit. The entire area has been completely renovated. Every building has a new facade, the sidewalks are new and spotless. It has many, many restaurants and shops, especially near the train station. A definite plus.
The train to Manhattan is easy to navigate and costs $2.75 per ride per person, each direction. You can buy more than one fare in advance at the train station and pay a bit less. Once you get to Manhattan, if you want to travel further on the subways, you have to transfer from the New Jersey transit system (PATH) to the NY subway system and pay another fare. This is not a reflection on this rental, but we weren't expecting transit to cost as much. Nevertheless, the very reasonable rental rate for this unit is excellent (and makes up for the transit expense) when you consider that one bedroom apartments rent for $2000 and up in Hoboken.
We had no complaints and recommend this as a pleasant, quiet and safe place at an excellent price and value for the area.
My mother and I stayed with Dawn for 12 days. We have been very pleased with the stay. Dawn was the sweetest and most helpful host. Our flight was delayed and we could not get hold of an uber -car , so Dawn ordered one for us and put $ 100 out , very nice gesture. The room and the toilet was very clean and had everything you needed. It was the friendliest neighborhood to stay in , we felt 100 % at home and felt not at all insecure . We were very happy that we chose Hoboken for which one you can get peace and quiet nights :) It was also really nice with a balcony so you can walk outside to get some fresh air and maybe a little cigarette ;) . Dawn was very hospitable. We highly recommend staying with her. Next time we go to NY we will definitely stay with sweet Dawn again :) Conny and Julie Denmark.

About the Host, Dawn
I have lived in Hoboken for 2 years now and I love this little town. It's full of life and new things happening all the time. I've enjoyed living here while I spend most days in Manhattan- the balance of quiet with people out and about the streets is perfect.
I love to cook, meet new people all the time and travel as well. If I do happen to be home for more than a few minutes, I'm happy to share a meal or just chit chat.
