We have been renting the house during the Fall for many years and have never had this take place before: we were just as surprised as Susan was to find the house had no heat or hot water when they checked in! As it turned out, our plumber who does the seasonal turn off in the Fall and turn on in the Spring, mistakenly had a team of his employees shut down the house without his checking written correspondence between me and the plumber in which we agreed the house should be turned off after Susan's departure. Honest mistake on my plumber's part. Once Susan's son contacted me upon their arrival with the report of heat and water off, I immediately called the plumber and he arrived as soon as he possibly could (within 2 hours) two get things back up and running. This item was a "one off" event and is by no means a common occurrence. As for the sheets, towels, blankets ... we outline in the house rules section of the listing that all guests are to supply these. Regarding the WiFi, similar to the linens item, we communicated in the house description that WiFi and expanded cable are NOT provided during the off season. In order that we can provide discounted rates during the off season, we have needed to streamline these items, but have been upfront with potential travelers about these conditions in the house description and house rules in order that guests can make informed choices about where they stay. Hope this clarifies matters!
