Small room at roof level, own bathroom, no kitchen, outdoor roof space with great views for relaxing.
We live on the top floor (level 6) of an old City building. Your room is above us, at roof level. You have your own bathroom on the roof level, reached via the (indoor) landing. The lift reaches to level 6, and one flight of stairs gains the roof.
We are in the centre of the City, close to Flinders Street Railway station, trams, theatres, restaurants, Federation Square, National Gallery.
When the weather is good, you can sit outside on the roof and enjoy a great view out of the City towards the river and gardens.
The room is small but cosy. The bed is double (not queen) with a good mattress. In winter we provide a heater, and as the room is small, it heats quickly. There is thick carpet on the floor, windows that you can open and a skylight that you can open, and with a blind. There is no airconditioning, just a fan. In a major heatwave it will get hot. In "ordinary" Melbourne heat the concrete is well insulated and stays cool.
Our laundry is also on roof level, and although we don't have a dryer, the room is warmed by two hot water services, so clothes dry in 24 hours.
There is a fridge on roof level that you can use, but no cooking facilities, except an electric jug in the bathroom.
It may be possible to come downstairs and use our kitchen at times, please enquire about this if you would need it.

The room is cozy, the view is great and the location is fantastic. It was a perfect place for a short stay in Melbourne. The overall service provided by the host was great.
Worked out great. Ideal location jumping straight off onto Flinders Lane where I could walk to everywhere I needed to go. I had the roof essentially to myself, so nice and private.
My hosts made sure I knew everything I needed to know and gave me a tour. The bathroom is a bit shabby at the moment and the roof has workers gear over it but all this was made clear to me before I arrived.
Would certainly return here the next time around.
I loved this rooftop room! Great view of the city. Close to Federation Square, Rod Laver Arena. Great food, coffee. A block away from the TRAM. I was in town for the Australian Open I walked to and from RLA on days it wasn't 100degrees. Nicholas and his family were wonderful host. Great at giving great info to make my first visit to Melbourne an easy on . I hit the ground running. From great instructions on getting to their place via skybus vs spending a arm & a leg on cabs.
In an amazing location and with fantastic views. Nicholas was a great host too!
I was disappointed with the overall standard of accommodation relative to the cost. The room was small and used also as storage for other goods. The bathroom had a ceiling with peeling paint and again there was storage of skis etc in that area.
