The Space

Centrally located on Kauai, our home is clean, quiet, beautiful and eco-friendly. We have a guest bedroom available to rent (11’x12’) with lovely queen bed and private adjacent bathroom with shower and tub. We love living here and hope that you will enjoy our home as much as we do.

We are situated in a private setting with amazing views of Mt. Waialeale. From the guest room waterfalls can often be seen on the mountains. Your private bathroom is tiled (floor and shower) and has granite countertops. There is also an outdoor shower you are welcome to use (we describe that experience as a cross between a day at the spa and camping, as you look up at the bamboo gently swinging in the breeze). :)

Our home decor is minimalist for a peaceful feel of relaxed comfort. We are happy to give ideas about food, adventures, etc...or give you space to enjoy the island as you will.

Location:
- Conveniently, we are centrally located on Kauai for best access to the entire island: about 45 min from either end.
- Walking distance to hiking trails on Sleeping Giant
- 8 minute drive from Kapa’a town
- 5 minutes from beach or paddle boarding and tours on Wailua River.
- We are very close to the Hindu Temple / Monastery Gardens (Free tour is amazing)
- We are approximately 15 minutes from the Lihue airport.
- A car is recommended when visiting Kauai.

We welcome guests seeking a clean, comfortable, peaceful place to relax.

Guest Access

Guests have their own private bathroom and access to the use of kitchen and common areas. We also provide beach gear as per description above.

We enjoy interaction with guests as our schedules permit. However, we let guests decide the degree of interaction they are comfortable with. Whether you want a quiet stay with minimal interaction or you enjoy a wide variety of conversations, we are accommodating and comfortable sharing space either way.

The Neighborhood

It is peaceful and relaxing here in our neighborhood and we are tucked back off the road and have open spaces beyond our home for beautiful views.

  • Ava and Brett were so welcoming and helpful to us! They have a beautiful home and a very comfortable private room, but it was the two of them that made our stay so memorable! Ava was a little under the weather, but that didn't effect her efforts to make our vacation perfect. We really were happy to relax our schedule and just enjoy the beauty and atmosphere of Kauai. When I strained my back on a hike, they went above and beyond to help me rehab, and I really appreciated spending time out on the lanai just soaking up the oxygen and experiencing the island like a native! Tom had a great time watching the cows and chatting with Brett while I healed! Mahalo for everything, Brenda and Tom

  • We had a wonderful stay with Ava and Brett. Their home is exceptionally clean, with a very comfy bed and nice, private bathroom all located on one side of the house. Ava and Brett's room is on the other side of the house with the living room and kitchen separating the spaces. We had all the room we needed and Ava & Brett supplied beach chairs, a cooler, boogie boards, snorkel equipment and towels! We enjoyed morning and evening meals on the deck and listening to the rain during the night. Their place is centrally located so the distance to either end of the island is about the same. They are a loving, happy couple who are easy to get along with!

  • Ava and Brett´s home is probably one of the most peaceful and clean places to stay on the island. We spent a whole week at their house, enjoyed the nice and inspiring talks during dinner and really have GREAT respect for their decision to give up their previous life and start a new one on Kauai! What we enjoyed most about their home was: the lanai, the hammock, the outdoor shower, being able to wash our clothes, the complimentary “starter kit” with coffee, oatmeal, sugar, etc. (so kind of you! Thank you so much!), the cooler… Ava & Brett have thought of so many details that made our Kauai-vacation really easy! There are certain rules to follow, but most of them are simply common sense, so unless you are an anarchist and not willing to accept any rules you will love this place! Thanks for everything, you two!!

  • It was a joy spending time in the lovely, clean, well-organized home of Ava & Brett on Kaua'i the Garden Island. They made me feel welcome from the start and went out of their way to make me feel at home - thanks again for the Wi-Fi and the great conversations about everything and than some :)

The house location is perfect for exploring both the north and south shores - being more or less in the middle of the road that almost goes around the island :) And if you are looking for a Hawaiian eating experience not far away, I recommend the restaurant Hukilau Lanai. The Sweet Potatoe Ravioli "break da mouth", the service is great and the sea-side setting divine.

Don't forget to try the open-air shower - it's so much fun, I loved showering under the stars. Also I recommend trying out the white noise machine that Ava & Brett offer. It really helps to sleep when the Kaua'ian roosters, chickens, etc. are out gacking away! And they always are. Oh and did I mention that I loved the bed? It's more comfy than the one I have at home - I could habe slept for hours!

To sum it up; Ava & Brett are extremely gracious hosts who have totally embraced the Hawaiian spirit of Aloha. If visiting Kaua'i I recomend staying with this lovely couple!

Mahalo for everything Ava & Brett

  • Wonderful stay at Ava & Brett's. Everything is exactly like you see on the pictures & beyond, as pictures can't portray their warm welcome, kindness and amazing conversations. Ultra clean, very well located to visit everything on the Island, felt like home, safe and private even if you share the place with the hosts, rooms a far apart and you have your own private bathroom. My only regret, is not having stayed longer! Therefore, will most definitely return to Kauai and stay with them again. On a side note, the outdoor shower with hot water, simple bliss ! Thank you for sharing your peaceful and beautiful place, hope to see you some time again. Aloha ;-D

  • Dearest Ava and Brett, I might have only stayed with you for 3 days yet I feel as if I have known you forever. Needless to say my stay was a splendid experience and really felt like home away from home. I truly appreciated your home and everything you have done to create a space of peacefulness and reflection which was exactly what I was looking for, but mostly I appreciated you both for who you are: warm, loving, down to earth open hearted beautiful people inside and out. Thank you both for an experience I will never forget.

  • Brett and Ava where superduper wonderful hosts! We felt very comfortable and at home. Their place is a sweet retreat in a gorgeous setting... quiet, clean and tidy with everything you need. Short drive to town, shops, hiking, beaches...etc Turns out we have some friends who stayed with them last year - small world! They are very happy to share valuable information about everything they love about the island. The two of them are such a great couple and a joy to be around.

  • Our stay here was one of the highlights of our trip. The accommodation was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. We felt so welcomed and at home with Ava & Brett who were very generous and helpful in sharing their love of Kauai with us. The view from the back yard deck was spectacular, and the friendly cows were delightful. Words can't quite express just how special the experience was .We can not wait to return! Thank you so much Ava & Brett

  • My wife and I stayed at the Woods' for 4 nights. And it was a wonderful, sweet experience. With a pasture one one side, it was calm and serene- just like most of Kauai. The driving directions were perfect and Brett welcomed us as soon as we arrived. The room is spacious, with convenient closet space- all spic and span. The bath was well appointed and we were pleasantly surprised to find a bathtub :). They have an amazing kitchen, and cooking was fun. Ava and Brett are gracious, thoughtful, well-read, considerate and caring. They arranged for a steam iron and the board, as soon as we asked. The time we spent with them, was one of the best of our lives. They had so much to share. We miss them already. Aloha and Mahalo.
