About this listing

Enchanting retreat on the San Marcos River in Martindale, TX. The property is haven for rest and rejuvenation and graced with majestic trees, native, wildlife friendly gardens, stunning views of the San Marcos River, a peaceful Courtyard, and a variety of calming meditation spaces. GraceGardens has several guest rentals on the one acre property: Rustic Oak Cabin, Rustic Studio, Cypress Room (in Main House), The Bunk Room (in Main House).

The space

Our Rustic Oak Cabin is located across the Courtyard from the Main House where your hosts live and has a magnificent view of the San Marcos River. The Cabin is a small one room space equipped with two full size, plush futons and a large built-in writing desk. There is a toilet and a custom tiled shower with a curtain dividing these from the cabin room. It has a coffee pot, microwave, small refrigerator, plates, cups and eating utensils. It can sleep up to five with a single blowup bed added, but it will be *very* cozy.

Seasonal Pricing: $150 Mid March to Nov 1
Check-in: Anytime after 3pm and before 9pm if at all possible.
Check-out: Noon

Other amenities include a tree-shaded swimming pool, hot tub, gas BBQ grill, fire pit (bring your own wood) free wifi (no password) and touring bicycles. We are located about half way between Austin and San Antonio. Several tubing outfitters are minutes away.

We do not have direct river access because we are 40 feet straight up. There is a lovely low water crossing about 1-1/2 miles from us on a quiet country road. At this crossing is a place where you can sit in the San Marcos River's cool, rushing water. Also Martindale has a small city park with a trail that leads down to the river.

Our gardens are wildlife friendly. They are a mixture of planted perennials and native plants that go dormant in the winter. In early spring you will start to see the magic of new growth. In the summer and through early fall the gardens are lush with an almost tropical feel. Also, what some folks consider weeds, we consider food for honey bees and butterflies. Some areas of the property and the river bank are allowed to grow wild to curb erosion and to provide shelter for birds and wildlife.

If you enjoy bird watching, check out the San Marcos Loop, the San Marcos River Birding Trail or one of these popular, local bird watching sites. Painted Bunting, Summer Tanager, and Great Blue Heron are just a few of the many spectacular species of birds you may behold. Don't forget to bring your binoculars!

Before check-in, if possible, let us know if you want to use the hot tub. It requires manual turning on and off, therefore one of us needs to be here. The fee for each use is $20.00 and is due when you reserve it.

Namaste, ~Lee

Absolutely enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back for a romantic weekend getaway. This time I came w 3 guests & 2 furpups. The cabin was exactly what we anticipated. Cozy, met all of our needs and had a beautiful view of the San Marcos river. Our host was very accommodating even when plans changed a bit and were hospitable.

Off the beaten path but only a short drive to San Marcos and Gruene! Beautiful scenery and awesome pool. Cabin is one room but works for a fun weekend away

Lee and Frank's place was awesome! I had a quick weekend getaway with my three young nieces and they really enjoyed being in nature and so close to the river. The cabin was equipped with all that we needed and the property had plenty to keep the kids entertained. We would love to come back someday.
