Our Rustic Oak Cabin is located across the Courtyard from the Main House and has a magnificent view of the San Marcos River. The Cabin is equipped with plush futons, large writing desk and shower. It has a coffee pot, microwave, plates, cups and eating utensils.
Other amenities include a salt water swimming pool, hot tub and touring bicycles. We are located about half way between Austin and San Antonio.
If you enjoy bird watching, check out the San Marcos Loop, the San Marcos River Birding Trail or one of these popular, local bird watching sites. Painted Bunting, Summer Tanager, and Great Blue Heron are just a few of the many spectacular species of birds you may behold. Don't forget to bring your binoculars!
Please note if you want to use the hot tub, then at check-in you will need to reserve day and time that you want to use it. The fee for each use is $20.00 due and is due at check-in time.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are socialized and friendly with other people, animals and children. Please bring bags for cleaning up and disposing of your dog's waste.
Smoking is only allowed outside of the Courtyard and pool area, only when children are not present, and butts must be disposed of properly.
Children are always welcome! They will love the sights and sounds that come with staying on the river: looking for fish, chasing butterflies, digging in the sandbox, playing in the saltwater swimming pool and enjoying the “Kids Only” tree-house that comes equipped with a slide and a climbing wall. We also have an infant swing and tree swing for older kids and kids-at-heart.
Complimentary coffee is provided in the morning. Refrigerated storage is available for any additional food and/or drinks you bring. A BBQ pit is available for grilling.
You will have access to GraceGardens’ saltwater swimming pool, hot tub, fire pit, outside dining space, touring bicyles. No life guard on duty, swim at your own risk. There is a $20.00 fee for hot tub use and must reserve time(s) when you check-in.
Don’t forget to bring towels (for swimming and bathing), sunscreen, any desired food and/or drink items, inner-tubes and/or rafts, swimsuits and swim-shoes.
GraceGardens is a fun, yet peaceful place. We enjoy music and laughter, but we ask that you keep the noise level down after 10pm.
Lovely spot and great hosts on our 2nd visit to Grace Gardens. Can only repeat what we said before, very peaceful, very clean, lovely pool, great hosts. Good area for running (flat and very little traffic on the surrounding roads) and Martindale is a lovely old village with a good taco van.
It's a peaceful place. Lee and James are nice nice people. They gave you privacy which is something that we were looking for. The view from the cabin is spectacular. Love Bluuuuu, Maggie and Jax. Recommended place to go to. And i hope Lee n James are able to keep the garden. Might come back if you have us :)
We loved staying at the cabin at Grace Gardens! Lee and James were excellent hosts. The cabin was cozy and just what we were looking for in a quaint place to stay. The neighborhood was quiet. Having breakfast in the gazebo was awesome. There were lots of squirrels and cardinals playing. We even made a fire in the fire ring one night. Highly recommend!
Lee and James are gracious, easy-breezy hosts. Their cottage is nestled atop a little slice of magic high above at the Rivers edge -- cradled by enchanting gardens, pathways and wind-chimes. a panoramic window overlooking the rafters, kayakers and wildlife. A peek around the corner is the most well thought-out pool and hot-tub to be used at your convenience. The location provides the best of both worlds: Country living, while San Marcos is a hop away; and Austin, a stone's throw. 99 cent breakfast tacos are offered just down the street in Martindale. The cabin is rustic and cozy but sleeps 6 and offers everything a person needs to lay their head, tidy up and prepare a meal after a day of enjoyment outside in the gardens or on the river. Morning coffee -- on their wooden platform deck just below the cabin and perched above the river -- was a peace giving and tranquil experience. I could spend hours there listening to the wind, watching the kayakers and enjoying the solace. Outside is where it's at at Grace Gardens. Lee and James created a special space for outdoor enjoyment.
Lee's Grace Gardens are tucked away in the beautiful countryside outside of San Marcos. The Oak Cabin was quaint and overlooked the river. We loved spending time out on the deck and exploring the garden,
Lee and her husband were very kind and made us a great breakfast on Sunday morning. Homemade biscuits and fresh-squeezed juice. YUM!
If you are looking for a place to get some rest and relaxation, this is absolutely the place to go!
Four of us spent 2 nights at Grace Gardens and could not be happier with our time there. We did not want to leave. Our hosts could not have been nicer and the place is truly beautiful.
The cabin sits right on the edge of the river and the pool and hot tub were amazing. We will definitely be back!
A delightful spot out in the country away from it all! I was in town to attend a teachers training at the SanMarcos School of Yoga so coming home to this peaceful little spot every night was great. A quick 25 minute drive to explore Austin and about 30-40 minute drive to explore SanAntonio. If you are a small family or group comfortable traveling together this is a lovely spot to spread out between the available rooms in the main house and the Rustic Oak Cabin. Plenty of places to sit under a tree and relax or nap by the pool. Sweet doggies and wonderful sounds of nature. If you're a runner or biker there are loads of country roads surrounding the place for long runs/rides. Super fast wifi keeps you connected, but the lack of TV and noise of the world allows for the best kind of disconnection. Thanks so much! I'll see you next time I'm in SanMarcos.

I'm a free spirit, nurturer, modern day hippie and Minister. I have a calm nature and an easy smile. When I'm not working around GraceGardens, I enjoy spending time with my family and grandchildren.
I live in the Main House along with my standard poodle, Maggie who has the run of most of the Main House and Courtyard, and my three cats, Zelda, Flo and Eddie, who have their own private wing in the Main House.
