What a beautiful corner of the world with the most incredible hosts. Mark and his family and cottages are simply treasures: he was extremely generous - showed me around the property when I arrived, gave me great recommendations for things to explore in the area, and offered to make me some dinner as well even though the bakery was closed during the week. The cottage was perfect for the type of place you'd want to stay in the middle of the redwoods: charming, quiet, clean, and rustic but comfortable. I slept extremely well, and the breakfast was a great way to start out the morning! Freshly roasted delicious coffee, flakey-fresh-warm-delicious pastries, organic yogurt, and fruit. It's rare to come across such caring, generous people who seem to be prioritizing the right things in life. It was truly inspiring. I stayed with my dog Lego on this trip, and hope to be back with my husband on a weekend next time to catch the Friday night live music community pizza and beer night!
We had a great experience! They made us feel at home and were extremely nice with us. We would love to come back! The cottages are so cute and the goodies at the bakery are incredible.
Mark is awesome super welcoming and attentive. The area is absolutely lush green and only about 15minute drive from the nice beach town of Jenner.
Mark was the most generous and welcoming host! We loved this enchanting little cottage among old-growth Redwoods. The cottage was a great place to stay while doing a mini-work retreat. Breakfast in the morning was delicious home-baked goods from the bakery, and we sat at a table under a 1000 year old Redwood for our work session. We also took Mark's suggestion and drove to the coast, checking out Goat Rock Beach (where the final scene of The Goonies was filmed) and enjoying a delicious dinner at River's End Restaurant where we watched the sunset and baby seals on the beach. Cannot recommend this highly enough.
Mark was incredible. This was the warmest welcome I've ever received. The price is well worth how accommodating he is and how beautiful the property and cottage are. Mark had a fire going for us when we arrived, and the pastries... just wow.
Do not stay anywhere else, you've found the most amazing host and a really wonderful spot.
This cottage was everything I wanted for an overnight getaway to the Russian River. It was homey, welcoming, with just enough privacy. The setting is gorgeous: secluded and surrounded by redwoods.
What really made our visit extra special was the warm and generous reception we got from Mark. He couldn't have been nicer. The bakery that he and his family run next door is delicious and lovely.
Mark went out of his way to make us feel welcome, plus he gave us a GREAT dinner recommendation that we wouldn't have found without him.
My boyfriend and I visited during a short spring break, we could only stay one night but wish it was much longer! We were suppose to stay at the Elim Grove cottage but because of a previous guest leaving a mess Mark let us stay in the Paradise Grove cottage with no extra charge! Mark greeted us with delicious pastries and bread then recommended some amazing sights to see and places to eat. We awoke the next morning with a tray of breakfast full of many choices from his wife Elizabeth! The property is beautiful as is the entire area even our drive back home (which Mark recommended) was absolutely gorgeous. We can't wait to return again they are such amazing hosts!!

About the Host, Mark
Twelve years ago my wife and I fell in love with an abandoned restaurant with four tired cottages on three acres of wild blackberries and old growth redwoods on Austin Creek. It has been an exhausting/exhilarating labor of love that has enriched our lives in more ways than we ever imagined. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have!
