The Space

Nestled among the redwoods of Cazadero, Elim Cottage is located in the oasis of Elim Grove, on the grounds of the award-winning Raymond's Bakery – the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Sonoma County.

The owners provide a warm, appetizing atmosphere in this undiscovered woodland paradise along tranquil Austin Creek, only 20 minutes from Guerneville, Russian River wineries, or the Pacific Ocean.

Elim Cottage sleeps 2 in a crisp, light wood interior with stylish furnishings and a queen bed. It also features a cozy sitting room, with a twin sized fold out couch, a wood stove, a microwave & fridge, and a private bathroom with shower. The cottage is only a stone's throw from Austin Creek swimming hole. Wake up to the bubbling of the creek, take a plunge, enjoy strolls along nearby trails, play bocce, relax under the gazebo and nap in the garden room or under the Gravenstein apple tree. Share a romantic evening in front of the propane wood stove or by the campfire.

Please note that Elim Grove Cottage can sleep up to 3 people including the twin sofa bed. There is a $20 per night charge for each additional person over double occupancy. Children 4 and under are free.

For larger groups of up to 17 persons, book Elim Grove Cottage together with Gravenstein Cottage, Paradise Grove Cottage, Creekside Cottage and Baker's Loft - all located on the grounds near the bakery.

If your dates are already booked, please check out Cazadero Retreat, just a 10 minute walk away!

  • WOW!! What an amazing experience... very charming cottage nestled in a beautiful redwood forest, a bakery that is full of unique, tasty treats and most importantly the most inviting and gracious hosts you could ever ask for. Thank you Mark, Elizabeth and family for making us feel special during our stay.

  • Katie & I were a little late to booking a place to stay for our friends' wedding, and hotel prices in the area were outrageous. Luckily, Mark had just released some cottages that were on hold for another wedding, and we were able to snatch one up for the night!

The location is super easy to get to. Not too long a drive from Guerneville, and with this cottage, you can drive right up and virtually park right at the door.

The interior is adorable with a couple of comfy seating areas and a library of reading material. I wanted to take some of the antique furniture home with me.

The breakfast in the morning isn't a FULL on breaky if that's what you're craving first thing. You get a choice of pastry from their bakery, some break, yogurt, a couple hard boiled eggs and coffee/tea. It got our day started (after a night of partying), so we were satisfied.

If we ever have a reason for staying in the area again, we'd definitely consider Elim Grove cottages again. It was great!

  • We stayed at Elim Grove Cottage for one night on our way to a wedding out on the coast.
It is very cute and nicely appointed. And it was lovey to have breakfast in the Bakery next door.

  • There are so many reviews about the joy of staying at Mark and Elizabeth's special place and they are all so true.

The basics: The cottage was very clean and cozy, the shower pressure was divine, and the bed was very comfortable.

The hospitality was off the charts! Where do you get experiences like this? We were lucky enough to spend a portion of a quiet Monday morning with Mark and his twins. He's a kind, open man who has an amazing story. As he would say, "It's a life he couldn't have scripted." As we talked, I discovered I had met him before at the farmer's market in Bodega Bay--best pumpernickel bread ever! We were sad to miss the weekend festivities (pizza night, live music, folk dancing), but realized that being there when everyone is gone is its own special experience. Mark helped us with getting there, places to eat and places to explore the next day. We arrived to baked treats and woke to a delicious breakfast spread that we enjoyed lazily in his garden.

I left feeling nourished and inspired to live life creatively and simply.

  • We had a great time at Mark and Elizabeth's place in Cazadero! We were just passing through briefly, but the cottage was cute and nicely appointed. It was really sweet of Elizabeth to wake up at 6am to make us a delicious breakfast in time for our early departure!

We also appreciated that we were able to bring our kitten along with us :)

  • Mark was a great host and made our stay in Cazadero very enjoyable. He also suggested several good outings in the nearby area, including a couple of good wineries. The cottages are set on a beautiful property with a small river/stream running through it and the grounds have nice plantings and a fire pit area. The cottage we stayed in was very cozy with extremely comfortable bedding and nice fluffy towels. The room was also clean, well stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryer, etc and ready for our arrival. The bakery on the property was amazing! We enjoyed a fresh baked baguette upon arrival as well as several delicious selections for breakfast (along with fresh fruit and yogurt). This was a great place to stay with a very friendly host, and we hope to make it back soon!

  • Our stay at Elim Grove Cottage was lovely. Nestled in the forest in Cazadero, the cottage is a short drive away from Highway 1 and Salt Point State Park (which we highly recommend to any visitors!) and is right around the corner from the undeniably pleasant Duncans Mills. The book-lined accommodations were wonderfully easy to relax in, and I wish we'd had an excuse to light the stove that occupies the living room. Check-in and check-out were painless and personalized, with a host at the adjacent bakery (open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) handing off our keys upon arrival, and Mark digitally ensuring our comfortable stay amidst our various journeys off into the surrounding areas. We'll almost certainly return at some point.

  • Our experience at Elim Grove Cottage was exactly what I hoped for- it was charming, the breakfast was as good as other reviewers have said, and Mark couldn't have been more welcoming. My border collie and I arrived on foot after a nice day of hiking and my husband met us there. We were committed to keeping this to a 24-hour vacation in a busy work week so we left early, but maybe next time will linger a bit!

  • Elim Grove Cottage was perfect. While we were only there for a short time, Mark and Elizabeth were welcoming, gracious, pleasant and very, very accommodating. My wife and I enjoyed the cabin's diverse and entertaining library, the delicious (vegan) breakfast, and watching our 10 mo. old son try to figure out the latch of the steamer chest. The only bad thing about the trip was that we arrived on a Thursday, left on a Friday and wasn't able to enjoy the Friday festivities at Raymond's Bakery. We'll be going back, for sure!

  • Great stay in the Elim Grove cottage. Was exactly what we were looking for...wanted to get away from daily grind for a weekend and found a wonderful sanctuary at Raymond's Bakery. Comfortable cottage, beautiful area. Breakfast in the bakery was definitely a highlight. Delicious pastries and fresh ground coffee and espresso. Will be trying to come back. Was perfect for our needs.

Twelve years ago my wife and I fell in love with an abandoned restaurant with four tired cottages on three acres of wild blackberries and old growth redwoods on Austin Creek. It has been an exhausting/exhilarating labor of love that has enriched our lives in more ways than we ever imagined. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we have!
