Scottish converted trawler yacht

Boat - Private room · Longman Drive, Inverness, United Kingdom

The Space

Orlik is our converted deep sea fishing trawler and after 14 months in the shipyard she now provides luxury accommodation in two double cabins each with its own private shower room and cozy two person sauna.

We have two private cabin that are available at the cost of £120 per double cabin per night. Each cabin has 1 double bed. The cost for booking the two cabins will be £200 per night, we only have the two cabins available so the trawler yacht would be exclusively yours for this price.

Orlik is a 17 meter wooden vessel that weighs 80 tons, built of solid oak and fished as far North as Iceland in the north Atlantic during the Summer months. In 1992 Orlik was retired from fishing and became a dive vessel chartering mostly in the English Channel before coming North to Scotland in 2006. In 2010 skippers Lorna and Michael Watt undertook to totally refurbish Orlik at a cost of over £300,000 making her what she is today- a luxurious private trawler yacht with a great history that gives unique accommodation for four people allowing then to tour Scotland is real style enjoying the privacy of a clasic private yacht.

Lorna and Michael are both experienced skippers and have taken Orlik on a complete circumnavigation of the UK. Lorna owned her private boat on the Caledonian Canal for 10 years and Michael spent 20 years deep sea fishing as a trawler man and skipper of his own vessel.

  • We were welcomed in a very nice way on Michael and Lorna's trawler boat Orlik.
We enjoyed to speak with them about all topics, to exchange our point of views and to learn more about Orlik's story.
What a beautiful stay we had on their boat: having a breakfast during a sunny morning while cruising on river Ness....what's best?
    Thanks Michael and Lorna!!!

  • To say Michael and Lorna went above and beyond in their efforts to help us and make feel at home and comfortable on the Orlik is an understatement. They are such good folk. In the morning when the canal staff showed up to the locks in the rain, they were given coffee and cookies; that's the kind of folk Michael and Lorna are! Now just imagine you are paying to stay with them and you'll get a picture of how lovely and accommodating they are. We could have visited with them for hours on end and never grown restless. It was hard to tear ourselves away to continue the rest of the journey. We wanted to stay.

  • Michael + Lorna were incredible hosts to my husband and our two friends. They welcomed us warmly, went out of their way to help us find their location easily, and put great effort into ensuring that we had an outstanding stay. (Including great food, fantastic scotch, lots of great chats and a boat ride, too!) Their yacht is lovely, as is their hospitality. An absolute highlight of our journey through Scotland -- we would recommend this experience to anyone!

  • We absolutely recommend to get to know Michael and Lorna and to stay at Orlik, their boat. They are a lovely couple, easy-going and very much interested in meeting people and sharing ways of living. Their boat is perfect: cosy, clean, with lots of space and very welcoming. And no doubt they'll show you a different Scotland, that I really think no one should miss. Thank you Mike and Lorna, you really made our trip special!

I am skipper owner of the converted trawler Orlik which fished in the North Sea in the 1960s fishing as far North as Iceland in the Summer months. I spent 20 years fishing on a similar boat to Orlik and now look after our guests in much calmer water in Scotland.
