Nestled among the redwoods of Cazadero, Gravenstein Cottage is located in the oasis of Elim Grove, on the grounds of the award-winning Raymond's Bakery – the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Sonoma County.
The owners provide a warm, appetizing atmosphere in this undiscovered woodland paradise along tranquil Austin Creek, only 20 minutes from Guerneville, Russian River wineries, or the Pacific Ocean.
Decompress from the stresses of everyday life in the front room on a comfy six foot antique couch beside a real wood stove. Or refresh yourself with a hot shower under the bathroom skylight. Relax in the queen bed watching the golden varigated leaves of bamboo sway gently in the breeze outside your window.
The cottage is only a stone's throw from Austin Creek swimming hole. Wake up to the bubbling of the creek, take a plunge, enjoy strolls along nearby trails, play bocce, relax under the gazebo and nap in the garden room or under the Gravenstein apple tree. Share a romantic evening in front of the stove or by the campfire. There is also a microwave and fridge for your convenience.
For larger groups of up to 17 persons, book Gravenstein Cottage together with Creekside Cottage, Paradise Grove Cottage, Elim Cottage, Baker's Loft – all located on the grounds near the bakery.

We arrived at the bakery on a Friday night in the pouring rain. Mark welcomed us with a couple glasses of wine and helped us get the wood burning stove going in our cabin. After settling in, we enjoyed some live music and homemade pizza in the bakery. What a great welcome!
The rest of our weekend was equally enjoyable. Each morning we enjoyed a continental breakfast in the bakery with a fresh-baked pastry of our choice. Mark us provided us with number suggestions for things to do in the area – including a great hike and free wine tasting!
Our cabin was clean and cozy, and the location was well-positioned for all the exploring we wanted to do in the Russian River area. We hope to be back someday soon!
We love Mark and Elizabeth! We had yet another wonderful stay at their delightful bed-and-breakfast in Cazadero– it is one of the most relaxing and beautiful places we have ever been. We can't wait to go back!
This is a great cottage and the owners provide great service! The amenities, including the small wood stove, are wonderful, the breakfasts are delicious, and the location is enchanting. I am looking forward to returning when the bakery is open because it seems (email hidden)ly place!
This is our second stay at the Bakery and we loved it as much as ever. The accommodations are cozy and clean. Mark is a gracious and attentive host and a wonderful person to meet and know. Our breakfast of eggs, yoghurt and fresh pastries and bread from the bakery were fantastic! Mark and the bakery have earned a permanent pin on my mental map of this area :)
Mark and Elizabeth were warm, welcoming and beyond thoughtfully accommodating. The cottage was charming - clean and comfortable; the wood-burning stove made things cozy - and a delicious breakfast in the onsite bakery was a serious perk. Our experience was memorable to say the least, and we will definitely be back. Elim Grove is a very special place, and we feel lucky to have come across it.
We had exactly the end-of-summer-getaway-weekend we were hoping for. Our needs are basic: Clean and comfortable dwelling; Walking distance to a river for swimming and sunbathing (Austin creek lagoon); Quiet (sound of leaves and birds); Nature (redwoods, water); Large outdoor seating area with a fireplace (great for drinking wine and meeting neighbors); and Laid back people (Brazilian musicians; athletes, professionals). I am not a big starch eater, but we allowed ourselves to dig in to the tasty and fresh morning pastries, sandwiches, and breads. Mark and Elizabeth were gracious hosts- accommodating and full of local advice. The bonus garlic and rosemary loaf upon our arrival and flexible check out time for one last dip, made our stay special. We'll have to come up on a Friday night for some pizza, wine, and music next time.
Mark and Elizabeth (along w/ twins and four black cats) share an inspiring story of love, courage, and entrepreneurship. They were fantastic hosts who also provided great Russian River winery and hiking recommendations.
The cottages are tucked away up Cazadero Hwy, a picturesque setting among tall old-growth redwoods and nearby creek. Of note, there is a Brazilian band camp across the street and we were greeted by what seemed to be an extended drum practice (a plus/minus if looking for more peace and quiet). The smells of fresh air and baked goods mix well together outside the attached Raymond’s Bakery. The pastries are yummy (blueberry muffin!) and filled us up before our hike through Armstrong Redwoods. Another treat, if you are there on a Friday, is the Pizza Beer and Wine Nights with live music. The place fills to the brim w/ regulars and visitors. You may have to wait a bit for pizzas, but the beers on tap will keep you happy! As B&B patrons, we mingled among the event guests for a short bit but spent most of the evening lounging around the private guest fire pit with our delicious pizzas and toe-tapping music in the background.
We stayed in the Elim Grove Cottage (a different one than we had reserved but it was perfect for our taste), with cozy accommodations, modern facilities, and an eclectic library collection to fulfill anyone’s reading pleasure. Although our heater didn't seem to be working, we quickly realized we didn't need it during the late-August evenings (really warm comforter).
For a secluded home away from home getaway, the B&B Cottages at Elim Grove are your place to be!
Great host+gorgeous redwood grove & creek+amazing baked goods & coffee & beer & wine+fire ring and outdoor couches=stop looking anywhere else. Stayed here three nights with my wife and 18 month old and felt as though we really didn't need to go anywhere. We did, but still... ...stay here and you'll be glad you did!
Elim Cottages are a great place to spend a weekend. Mark was so kind and welcoming before and after I arrived, making sure I had everything I needed. (He even made special gluten-free goodies from the bakery - yay!) The cottage was low-key, and a nice place to hide from city life for a while. You won't want to spend much time in here, though, when there's so much to see outside. And it won't be long after you arrive before you feel like turning your phone off for the weekend. Cazadero is a great home base for the area, and being a little out of the way is part of the charm: the only people around want to be around, and nowhere is that more apparent than inside the bakery on a Friday night. This isn't a stuffy resort, but a place where you see neighbors being amazing neighbors, talk with new friends outside in the last minutes of twilight, and meet an outgoing cat who finds you while you're drinking morning coffee under the redwoods. And for all of these reasons, I'll be back.
Fantastic stay, we will be back! The cottages are all simply perfect (clean, quiet, and comfortable). Although I believe we stayed in the cottage listed as "Elm Grove Cottage" they are all marvelous thanks to the hard work of dedicated hosts. I am glad that we only stayed a few days, or I may have begun to horde the baked goods. I have never had such a fantastic Croissant. If I lived in Cazadero, I would be knocking down the door of that bakery everyday. As a bonus, Mark and Elizabeth went out of their way to accommodate my gluten-free girlfriend with some fantastic goodies as well!
