Ian's Room is a bright, comfortable bedroom with queen-sized bed that will ensure a good night's sleep. Shared full and half bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living room with wood-burning fireplace, dining room, breakfast/family room, and laundry room (limited hours, currently 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.)
While breakfast is not included, there are numerous bagel and coffee shops within about a 10-minute walk. We do invite you to kick back with complimentary morning coffee or tea, or relax after a big day with your own happy hour in our fantastic yard, garden, and patio, with a huge dining deck overlooking it all (you can buy wine and beer at the nearby Whole Foods grocery store, and those items plus spirits at Plain Old Pearson's across the street from Whole Foods.)
Housemates include our two indoor/outdoor cats. They have their own cat door, but prefer to use the big doors whenever anyone who looks willing to be a doorman is near. While we do not own a dog, on infrequent occasions, we may be keeping a dog when his owner is out of town. If you would not want to stay with a dog in the house, please contact me before booking to see whether we would be keeping a dog during your stay.
If you have a car and need parking, we can provide a visitor's parking permit for $15/day.
Within a 10-minute walk, you will find Whole Foods grocery store, Giant Foods grocery store, numerous restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and drug stores. It's about a one-mile walk to Georgetown University and to American University. You can walk past the Vice President's residence and down Embassy Row, or run/walk on the nearby Glover Park trail (no cars or bikes on this trail.) Many bus routes are 1 to 3 blocks away, and they get you to Dupont Circle or Georgetown in 10 minutes, Foggy Bottom in 20 minutes, and to the Smithsonian museums in 25 to 30 minutes.

I spent one month in Ian's Room and I really enjoyed my time there: the house is large, the room is clean, full of light and silent and it is possible to use the kitchen which is well equipped. Most of all, Teresa and Reid are very helpful and very well organized; they could give me all the informations to move in Washington and to enjoy my time there. I think it is a good place especially for long staying.
Teresa is an amazing host, right from the get go I was given all necessary information to make my stay pleasant. Ian's room is very comfortable and cozy. It features a great library, being the avid reader that I am I helped myself to a few chapters of "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer".
The property sits a few minutes away from Wisconsin avenue and it is about a 12 minute walk to the shopping area in Glover Park.
Overall, I'm really happy with the experience.
I stayed up in Ian's room for three nights and everything was good. I only needed place to sleep so the room was convenient. It was nice stay in a beautiful neighborhood. Thanks Teresa. :)
Ian's room was the perfect place during my stay in Washington where I attended a conference. Everything was as described. Teresa and Reid are extremely nice and helpful hosts. I will definitely come back.
Everything was like described! Teresa and her husband are very welcoming and friendly people. I would definitely come back!
It was a fun and an educational experience for me staying with Teresa at Ian's room. The location was very safe but not too easy to find by cab drivers. I was so glad Teresa gave me a ride to the nearest train station on my way home. Since I booked the place with very short notice, good to know there is instant booking available. i hope if I come over again to Teresa's place, her pet cat Pepper will feel much better. The room I had was comfortable and spacious with lots of reading books available if you got time.
Teresa is a great host, very nice and welcoming. Room is clean and comfy too!
I liked staying with Teresa and Reed. Wonderful people. They gave me important information I needed about my stay at their home. The home is warm and inviting and close to everything. I would stay there again!
A quick but lovely stay, the neighborhood is fantastic! Quiet, near the Cathedral. Beautiful, warm, definitely would go back!
Both Reid and Teresa were great host and the room and bathroom were up to expectations. The only small problem is the tenant above Ian's room that were making a lot of noise at wee hours of the morning. So if you're a light sleeper, best to let Teresa know so that you get a good night's sleep.
