  • We had such a fun time glamping in the Yurt! We were lucky that our booking wasn't affected by the fires. After a busy few weeks of travelling; our stay at the yurt under the stars was exactly what we needed. If you are looking to get away from everything and rough it (but not too much!) then this is for you! Laurie and Craig have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. Thanks again guys!

  • Love our stay Glamping - Craig has thought of everything you could possibly need in the Yurt and it's a great 'outdoors' location that you can explore the American great outdoors from. We spent a great couple of nights BBQing and enjoying hot outdoor showers to remove the inevitable dust in dry September. Would recommend this to anyone as a great escape from the standard hotel living... Sign up now!

  • My girlfriend and I visiting Laurie and Craig's yurt as part of a road trip around California. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be recommending it to friends!

The Yurt is in a nice remote location and you really feel like you're in the middle of the countryside once it gets late. The Yurt has a lot of facilities, there's plenty of sleeping space, there's a BBQ outside and a cooking stove inside, a shower in the Yurt and a "military style" shower outside which was fun to use but probably because it still used hot water. They also have an AC unit in the Yurt which is handy as it gets hot during the day.

We stayed at the Yurt during the Rim fires near Yosemite which meant we had to drive a long way into Yosemite itself as the normal route was closed, but the Yurt still seemed well located. It was surreal being able to see the fire from the Yurt at night. Thankfully it didn't encroach too closely to Laurie and Craig's place.

We saw Laurie and Craig a few times during our stay, and they were both really nice to deal with and to chat to when we were there. They also have a couple of friendly dogs named Lexi and Bean. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.

  • Beautiful place and Laurie and Craig are so helpful. We had trouble getting there with the fires in Yosemite park but Laurie and Craig were very accommodating.

  • Laurie & Craig were simply awesome. We went during the fire and the kept us abreast of everything via walkie talkie. It was actually pretty neat and got some great pics of the fire from the site. The yurt was awesome! Very clean, comfy and the bed was more comfortable than those fancy hotel beds. We were a little more adventurous and chose to use the outside shower, which was very efficient. They had fliers, advice, grill, telescope, basically anything and everything you would want. Can't wait to come back!

  • Our stay in the yurt was fabulous. Laurie and Craig welcomed us very warmly and were helpful whenever needed.
One of our best experience in California with the BBQ in the sunset !!
The place is very quiet and will suit you if you like Nature.
It is also very well situated when you visit Yosemite NP. Coulterville is a lovely and historical town.
I would highly recommend the yurt and would definitely go back there !!

  • First off, directions to the Sugar Pine Yurt could not have been clearer. Craig and Laurie made it so easy to find their place.

Once we got there, Craig was there to greet us and show us around. It was great that they had a 4WD for us to get up and down from the Yurt and we had so much fun with it!

The Sugar Pine Yurt is well thought out, homey and spacious. Having a hot shower after a long day out in Yosemite was so awesome. We BBQed both days we were there, and sat outside to roast marshmellows and sit by the fire at night. The yurt was nice and warm at night and we weren't there much during the day but there was air conditioning if needed.

We looked forward to getting back to the yurt each day and were so sad when we left. Made our Yosemite visit such a wonderful experience.

Thank you Craig and Laurie for your hospitality and your wonderful yurt! We'll definitely be back!

We are Midwesterners who headed west and fell in love with the Sierra Nevadas. We are involved in a local community support group, Community Connections, the Friends of the Library, Wildwood Chapel, AARP/Vita Tax Aide program and the John Muir Geotourism Center. Laurie is the CFO of an industrial electrical company and Craig is the Yurt Master/Keeper. We love sharing with others our beautiful corner of the foothills, and especially our yurt and cottage.
