Interaction with Guests
We value peoples privacy and understand most people are tired after travelling so after a brief Kia Ora (hello) we leave them to chill.
We are a 30 minute walk too town or we are handy to a good bus service.
We are pretty laid back but maori custom is that we dont wear shoes inside. We have adopted a dog who was an abandoned and abused dog. She is an outside dog with an amazing nature considering what shes been through and does not come inside if you are not an animal person. Smoking is allowed outside.
The host made me feel very welcome although I didn't get to meet Connor. A very homely place to stay with an easy bus ride into town.
I really enjoyed my stay in Rotorua with Heni and Stu. They were very welcoming and really made me feel at home. They also suggested interesting activities for me to check out in the area. I would very much recommend staying with the Herewini family!
Had a great stay at this place. Heni and Stu are very friendly and helpful and can give you a lot of tips for Rotorua. Although the place is not in the middle of the town you can reach the city quickly with the bus or have a 40min walk. I definitely recommend this place!
We spent only one night at the herewini family. But we felt welcome since the first second, when we met at first Jury and later Heni and Stu.
We had a good chat with Jury in the Garden and a really nice play with peaches (the lovely and well behaved dog) and in the evening we spent a lot of time to chat with Heni about everything, haha.
The room is cozy and you have a great view to the garden and the forrest.
Maybe we will see us again at a table which is covered up with German food!
Heni was very kind host. I could eat a nice maori dinner, and spend a good time. It was a little cold in the bed room, but there are some blanckets. Heni's house was very comfortale for me.
I stayed with Heni and Stuart for several days while in Rotorua for work. They were wonderful hosts, friendly and warm and super helpful with advice. Stu brought me home from the bus station the day I arrived - though I was told there is public bus service to the neighborhood where they live. However, during my time there, I just hitched a ride into town with Stu or Heni and gave them gas money and they were happy to have me along.
The home is located in a quiet neighborhood very close to the lake and looks out onto a beautiful park. One evening I had a great walk up the hill and got a stunning view of the area. My room had a twin bed that was very comfortable. The bathroom is shared with everyone in the household but there was no time when it was unavailable when I needed it. Heni has thoughtfully provided information about tourist attractions in the area. She is also very hooked into the community. Wifi works like a champion. A generous breakfast was provided.
Overall I had a great stay at Kapa O Pango 2.
