I live on site, and am more than happy to assist you to ensure you a comfortable stay at Abel's House!
We are a minute from the Menai Straits, the sea arm which divides Anglesey from mainland Wales. I love to gaze at the Irish Sea, which you can make out in the distance at the beginning of the Straits. Living in a walled town definitely feels sheltered. And the mountains of Snowdonia are only 15 mins away!
Good bus connections from Bangor Train station, which is on the London Holyhead line.
On Friday & Saturday nights you can dine at Oren restaurant in the basement of Abel's House.
Lovely guy! Shared some local knowledge too. Cooked us a wonderful early breakfast in the morning. Just sorry it was so brief!
We had a great time at Abel's House! Our room was nicely decorated and clean. The B&B is in a great location for walking around and exploring the sights. Gert prepared the best gourmet vegetarian breakfast we had on our entire trip! We would highly recommend Abel's house!
The rooms at Abel's House are cosy and clean. Gert is a lovely host and his breakfast is fantastic. I would certainly stay here again.
We are three mature ladies who stayed for two nights at Abel's House. Gert had to go away unexpectedly so we were greeted by Rob the owner who was absolutely delightful and could not do enough for us to make our stay an enjoyable one. At Rob's recommendation we visited the Black Boy Pub for dinner on both nights and would highly recommend. The location of the B&B is fantastic and we could easily walk to everything. Rob made our breakfast especially and if you get a chance don't miss out on his speciality which is scrambled eggs. The B&B is beautifully furnished and is very comfortable. We absolutely loved our stay there and were sorry to leave. Would we recommend it....absolutely yes.
Wonderful location within the old city walls of Caernarfon with the castle right down the street. We loved walking around the old city - nice shops, pubs, and restaurants. Make sure to visit the castle; it's one of the 17 that Edward I built in Wales after claiming the country for England.
The bed is very comfortable, and the en suite bathroom is spacious and modern. Loved all the shelving so we could spread our things out.
Parking is difficult within the walled city. There are only a few spots on the street where the B&B is, and they are rarely available. We often had to circle around the block multiple times before something opened up. There is parking outside the wall, but it is Pay & Display, which can add up.
There is no TV in the room, if that's important to you, but there is a comfortable lounge on the first floor with a TV, games, etc.
Gert's breakfasts are delicious! Each day he made a special breakfast bread or dish to switch up the typical English/Welsh breakfast. Very creative chef! And he gives great advice on local restaurants too.
We were a party of four occupying two rooms. The rooms were inviting, clean and comfortable. Gert was very accommodating, replying quickly to our day-before request to book the rooms. The breakfast was wonderful! We would definitely stay with Gert again.
What a very special place. Could not be positioned better in town. Gert was just lovely, his cooking exceeds all bnb expectations. If you stop over a weekend book the evening meal. The room was lovely too. I would be surprised to find better value than this. I'd highly recommend and will be visiting again.
Amazing little gem inside the castle walls!! Gert was a fantastic host and cooked up a great breakfast for us. Definitely recommend this place for any traveller!
Wonderful experience! Gert was gracious host and made a yummy breakfast. The room was cozy and the sunflower was a lovely surprise! Do yourself a favour and book when staying in Wales.
We had a great stay at Abel’s House Bed and Breakfast! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was just delicious (tea, coffee, orange juice, cereals, toast, cake and a lot more). The house is very close to nice pubs and restaurants and the beautiful castle. Gert is a wonderful host and made us feel at home during our stay. All in all, we really enjoyed our time in Caernarfon and can definitely recommend Abel’s House Bed & Breakfast!
