It really doesn't get any better than this! Come share this Garden of Eden in the North Portland Overlook neighborhood, walking distance to the up and coming Mississippi Arts District.
Located 3 blocks from a Max (Portland's street car) stop, a 15 minute ride into downtown [and the train station!] and 45 minute ride to the airport. Alternatively, on a major bike route with about a 15-20 minute ride into downtown (bike rentals available here!!). As well, by car, the house is a 10 minute drive to downtown and a 15 minute drive to the airport.
This home is an urban permaculture homestead; all of the landscaping is edible and organic with 9 beautiful chickens and one honey bee colony (they hang out in the back corner of the garden and without mention you wouldn't even know they were there!) As well, the neighborhood is surrounded in beautiful gardens. The interior of the home is being remodeled into an eco modern paradise utilizing all sustainable and non-toxic materials. Don't worry, I'm not currently working on any projects, there are just a few unfinished ones around the house! I am very environmentally conscious; recycle everything and compost, the electricity is sourced 100% from wind power through the service provider, as well, the gas heating comes from the Methane produced on dairy farms! Additionally as part of our house remodel I am updating the house to be as energy efficient as possible.
There are two rooms available to rent, so if this one isn't available check on the other! Both bedrooms have very comfortable queen sized beds and can hold a single cot (that we can provide) for a third person. The bedrooms are private, but we share a bathroom. : ) There is ample shared space throughout the house and you will have access to wireless internet.
Your stay includes a self serve organic breakfast of oatmeal, granola, yogurt, fruit, coffee and tea. Access to on-site laundry and gourmet farm fresh breakfast can be provided upon request for a nominal fee. I am a total foodie and excellent cook and buy only local, organic produce and pasture-fed meats. Depending on the season there may be fresh fruit and veggies from the garden available, as well as fresh eggs from the chickens! The fully stocked kitchen is available for you to prepare meals in if you so choose and New Seasons Market, Portland's local grocery store, is only two Max stops away or a 15 minute walk!
Enjoy a walk to the Mississippi Neighborhood where you'll find quaint coffee shops, fabulous boutiques, yoga studios, spa's, music venues and pubs. There are a number of amazing local restaurants nearby with your choice of Thai, Mexican, Italian, pizza and southern food to name a few, as well as a variety of gourmet food carts. And lets not forget another thing Portland is known for.... beer! Widmer Brewing is down the road as well as McMenamins (White Eagle) and lesser known Amnesia Brewing, Lucky Lab, Hopworks Urban Brewery and New Old Lompoc. You might also enjoy relaxing in the backyard garden here!
The house is shared with my loving miniature schnauzer Beau. He loves guests and likes to greet them when they arrive! I am pleased to meet new people - we can sit and chat, or just smile and say hi as you come and go. As well, I am happy to give advice on great ways to explore the area.
This house is super laid back, I really don't have any rules! I just ask that you be respectful of others using the space as far as volume of noise is concerned. You can come and go as you please (no worries on late night arrivals as long as you are quiet if arriving in late!)
The spot was very warm as in good vibes, hospitality, and setting. Very ecoefficient setup. The location was well positioned with acessories to transportation and social recreation. We had a good time.
Very cute house in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. They gave me great tips about where to go sightseeing, were very accommodating and friendly.
Nice room, the dogs are very cute. Joelle has some great tea for us. Thanks for that!
I came into town for work and only wish that I'd had a bit more time to spend at Attunement! The place smells great, is cozy, and super charming. I'll definitely stay again next time I come into town, and hopefully be able to hang out a bit more.
We had a wonderful time staying at Joelle's! What a neat house! You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here.
Our lovely hosts were the best! The room was cozy and warm, evenwhen it snowed! The house itself is beautiful and painted cheerful colors. We loved staying here :) they also have tea, coffee and oatmeal for guests.
Joelle was very nice and welcoming. The room was decent for staying the night in Portland. Unfortunately, at 2am another guest just opened our door and walked into our room. Shortly after he was in the hallway outside our door speaking with someone about the house. However, this is not a reflection of Joelle. We didn't get very much sleep after that. Overall, my girlfriend and I appreciated the hospitality and openness. We didn't stay long enough to enjoy the complimentary breakfast items. Her house was in the perfect location-close to downtown but in a quiet neighborhood.
