Our home’s emerging South Austin location provides easy access to both Interstate Highway 35 and Loop 1/Mopac, Austin’s primary north/south thoroughfares. We are approximately 12 minutes from the airport, downtown and the University and less than 10 minutes away from shopping and eating destinations on South Congress, South First Zilker Park/Barton Springs, Alamo Drafthouse and Whole Foods Market. Each of these locations is within biking distance and two free bicycles, plus lock, are included with your rental. Walk to Radio Coffee and Beer, Central Market, Whole Earth Provision Company, TreeHouse, Yoga Yoga studio and the Regal Westgate Cinema – all less than 0.5 miles away.
We are located 0.1 miles from a city bus transit stop (Stop #4751). A bus to downtown (6th Street and Congress - stop #652) from our location takes approximately 25 minutes and is $1.00 one way and $2.00 for a day pass.
Other Things to Note
Los propietarios hablan Inglés y Español.
Please note that state tax and hotel occupancy tax (15%) are included in the price, as required by city ordinance and state law. While we would prefer to not have to add this to our overhead, compliance with local and state laws requires us to do so.....unfortunately.
A full set of rules are included in the rental contract, but below are the biggies.
NO smoking (cigarettes/cigars) inside the house, including the enclosed patio. All windows/doors must be closed when smoking outside.
NO pets of any kind on any part of the property at any time. We enjoy a pet free home and our backyard is home to a flock of chickens. Based on our experience, dogs/cats and chickens make for a tragic combo, so please respect our need to keep the premises pet free.
Please note that, children and infants are welcome in our home, but our home is not child/infant proof nor was it designed or decorated with children or infants in mind. We expect that the home and its contents will be left in the same condition as you found it so please use your own best judgment when deciding if this is the right place for you and your little ones.
We have two small Langstroth bee-hives in our backyard. Our bees are typically docile, but like any wild creature, can be unpredictable. If you are allergic to bees, please consider this before booking. Also, this should go without saying, but, no tampering with the hive regardless of bee expertise.
The owners (us) will be accessing the back yard every other day to feed/water chickens and collect eggs. We will notify current renters in advance of our visit via text or email. Visits will be very brief and are only for maintenance/care of chickens.
Renters will be required to sign a rental contract for stays of ANY duration.
No “Event(s)” of any kind are permitted on the property, without express written authorization from the owners. This home rental is for accommodations only and does not extend to “Events”. “Events” include, but are not limited to weddings, meetings, parties of any kind, photo/film shoots, concerts/music/art hosted or performed on the premises or any other form of entertainment, commercial or private engagement held on the premises, etc.
This is not just a rental, it is our home so we ask that you please leave it as you found it and enjoy your stay!
This house was wonderful and perfect for a quick trip to Austin. The space was large enough for 4 couples to hang out and enjoy dinner. The home was exactly as pictured and was easy to get to. It was also very close to almost any destination in Austin that we wanted to visit. I would definitely be visiting again soon!
Meesha and Michel's place was wonderful. Five of my friends and I (3 couples) stayed three nights for ACL fest and were very comfortable. The house was clean and very stylish, down to the littlest details. The eggs, provided by the chicken coop out back, were delicious. As for transportation, the house is near a bus stop and they had two quality bikes to ride around town on. It was a few mile ride to Zilker Park, not bad at all. I highly recommend Meesha's place!
Meesha was great to work with! Her communication was timely and effective, and she coordinated between myself and the rest of my family as we were all coming in from different locations at different times.
The house itself was clean, comfortable, and well decorated. Great location with easy access to Mopac. My family was initially hesitant about the chickens, but we never heard a peep from them and, in fact, they were kind of a cool bonus to see! We'd absolutely stay at Meesha's place again.
We absolutely loved this place. There is a King size bed in the master bedroom so we got a great nights sleep. The decor is perfect, minimal enough to not feel cluttered but not too sparse. We enjoyed drinking coffee and watching the chickens wake up. Very cool Austin experience. We left Houston way later than we expected so we arrived late in Austin and our hosts were very accommodating. We will definitely be back.
Meesha was a perfect hostess. Their lovely home was immaculate and really well appointed, convenient to everything we wanted to do:) My husband was a little afraid the chicken would be noisy, but we didn't hear a peep from the back yard and their eggs, which meesha left for us in the fridge as well as toast and coffee (and beer but we had that with a different meal;), were delish! Thanks Meesha!
We loved our stay in this comfortable, clean, house in a nice neighborhood. Our hosts were super responsive and went out of their way to make sure that we had a great visit to Austin. We will definitely stay here again on future trips.
