Clean and cozy detached, private studio, walking distance to public transit, restaurants, and shops in Historic Kenton.
Come see our recently converted space in the quiet North Portland neighborhood of Kenton. Our little cottage sits behind the main house, completely separate and isolated from other buildings. Located in an area with a Walkscore of 91 and close to coffee shops, restaurants, markets, antique shops, and more! If you are traveling by car, there is always parking available in our private driveway and also on the street.
No car? No problem! There are two Trimet MAX Light Rail stops in the neighborhood and multiple bus stops along Denver and Lombard Avenues.
Travel times by public transportation to some popular areas:
* Downtown (Pioneer Place) - 25 minutes
* PDX International Airport - 45 minutes
* Historic Mississippi District - 12 minutes
* Alberta Arts District - 20 minutes
Don't be fooled by its humble exterior! What was once a single car garage built in 1922 is now a modernly styled two-room guest house in our private backyard. A combination of custom and convenience! The bed is a queen plus-sized comfort sleeper sofa bed with an amazingly supportive mattress. The studio kitchenette could be likened to a wet bar deluxe. It has a microwave, toaster, undercounter refrigerator, two range burner and coffee maker. Dishes, utensils, and cookware also available for your dine-in needs, though you will find a number of restaurants just a few blocks away in the historic Kenton shopping district and several more in nearby Arbor Lodge, Mississippi, and Overlook neighborhoods.
Adjoining the main room through solid french doors is the studio addition. This bright space can function as a sitting room or second bedroom for additional guests. We have a full-size air mattress and/or travel crib that can be set up upon request. Both rooms have separate entrances opening to a shaded and green backyard. Come summer, you will likely find a hammock hanging from our walnut tree!

Cute, clean, comfy! Loved it and will definitely be back!
Julia was a great host. This was my very 1st experience with Airbnb but I was pleasantly surprised by the easy transaction and Julia's prompt communication. I was also happy to arrive and see that everything was exactly as promised and as shown in the pictures. Her place was cozy and warm and the kitchen, and free parking were great perks. If all my Airbnb experiences are as good as this one I will continue to book with them again and again.
Julia and Jacob's backyard cottage was the perfect place to stay on my trip to Portland. The space was put together carefully and with good taste. There were a number of Portland travel magazines and maps which were helpful as I planned my time. The sofa bed was so comfortable that I didn't realize it was a pull out until my second day there. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and fully recommend it to anybody looking for a quiet, secluded space to stay while visiting Portland.
What an awesome little hideout for the perfect Portland experience. We had stayed in the Pearl District before and wanted to explore other areas of the city. This was a great area with lots of cool restaurants/bars/shopping close by and was also a close hop to downtown. Julia thought of every detail when it came to this place, we loved the little things that you don't normally see at an Airbnb: nice linens/towels, shampoo, shower gel, shaving cream, razors, coffee and tea with all the essential cooking utensils as well. It was so much better than staying in a hotel and as everyone else mentioned, the pull out bed is no joke-- It is seriously more comfortable than many hotel beds you have slept on. You can't beat this place and I would totally stay here again!
It was a very nice space to come back to after riding our bikes around the city. It was a bit of a jaunt back up to the studio from downtown, but we are used to biking. The sweltering heat that we encountered while we were visiting was a surprise, the studio didn't get too hot, we were able to open the windows. Unfortunately when the windows were open our sleeps were regularly interrupted by train honks. When the window were closed we didn't notice it at all. There was three of us so it was nice having a private room, I was surprised at how comfortable the air mattress was. Very well designed space, I wish I had it in my backyard.
The backyard studio was perfect for our weekend in Portland. The space was clean and inviting, and the little things like tea and shampoo made it feel homey. The bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and convenient. Biking around town from the studio was easy. I would definitely stay here again! Thanks, Julia!
The studio was quiet, comfortable and perfectly located. It couldn't have been better!
Julia was a great host, very friendly and welcoming. The space is really cool, and it's very close to everything. It's a nice place to relax and very convenient to get around the city.
Our accommodations were extremely clean and adorably decorated. We appreciated the quiet space and privacy our hosts provided. We would absolutely recommend this space to friends and family! Additionally, the hosts were happy to accommodate some individualized needs. Our experience was perfect!
