La Pergola del Chianti, the name of our villa, is situated in Vagliagli, a little village 12 km north of Siena, in the heart of Chianti Clasico hills. The apartment called Mate is at the first floor, is accessible from the large living room where there is a complete kitchenette, with a master bedroom and a bathroom.
In in front of the villa there is the private courtyard and in a setting of olive and fruit trees there is the private pool.
In the villa lives my mother and some nights a week me or my sister.
In Vagliagli there are two very good restaurants a bar and a minimarket.
La Pergola dates from the early nineteenth century and was until the middle of the last century a small farm producing wine and olive oil. After it had been transformed into a private house by an English lord, it was acquired by our family.
From La Pergola are easy to reach the Chianti villages like Castellina, Radda or Greve in chianti. And from Siena The incredible Sangiminiano nothward or Montalcino and Montepulciano sothward
Non ci sono molte regole ma chiedo solo se possibile di liberare l'alloggio entro le 10:00 del giorno di partenza sopratutto se altri ospiti sono in arrivo.

Mario is a really great host, who cares about his guests. 'La Pergola' is in a nice village, right in the middle of Chianti, and is a great spot to visit south Tuscany : Sienna, San Giminiano, Pienza...
I love this house! And we would have stayed longer if Mario didn't have new guests arriving. Vagliagli is a beatiful little village, in a beautiful area. It has a well stocked store, and we made the most of the kitchen facilities in the house. Mario is a great host, and one of the most pleasurable experiences of our whole trip to Tuscany was sitting with Mario and his mother drinking espresso and home made limoncello. She even made some for us to bring home. I would stay here again without hesitation if we visit the Chianti region again.
Mario & his family could not have done any more for me, they went out of there way to make my stay with them a total joy.
I was invited to eat with the family on two occasions & on both times feed loverly home cooked meals by his charming mother.
The apartment which is part of there own home, was bright & clean with beautiful views of the surrounding wine & olive grove covered hills.
I was there to do some bike riding & relax both can be done in abundance here.
The roads around the Chianti region are joy to ride, a postcard view around every turn & beautiful villages to stop & have lunch.
Thank you again Mario "Ciao"
We really enjoyed our stay La Pergola del Chianti. It is a very charming apartment in an old villa and the garden, including a pool, is very nice.
The village of Vagliagli is very close to the heart of the Chianti Classico region, great for wine lovers and less then half an hour drive to Siena. Definitely recommendable!
We arrived from Florence and literally drove into a birthday party for Mario's mother. All of their friends and family made us feel so welcome - they fed us, gave us excellent drinks and desert. I have never felt so welcome by complete strangers. It was awesome! The room was superb - as advertised. Good wireless connections for those downtimes when we were not out exploring Radda, Siena or Vagliagli itself. We made friends with the local bar owner. The view was spectacular. You cannot go wrong with this place. Mario's mother was very helpful, loving and all around a great great host. We ran into a medical issue one day - Mario and his mother came to the rescue immediately. The home is fantastic but it was the hosts that put it over the top. I read on other reviews about the dogs barking but it's not that big of an issue - we were out all day and were so tired at night we did not really notice the barking. The kids played in the courtyard when we hung out at the house. They explored the surroundings of grapevines, olive trees and the swimming pool. Mario even has an old record player inside so we listened to the LP tunes of The Eagles and Julio Iglesias as we cooked.
What a beautiful place it is! We had a fantastic stay at La Pergola. Lots to see and do around this pretty little village, and in the afternoon relax at the spacious pool. Wonderful hosts too.
