Wonderful location, great setup, very inviting, would stay again next time we visit.
Ad, the host, was always there to help and was joy to be around.
Beautiful jungle villa! We really enjoyed our short time there. Be ready for the jungle! Air conditioning by request
We loved our stay at the JungleVilla. Adrian made us feel welcomed right away. Great location and an awesome view of the jungle and ocean. Like other reviews yes it is a hard spot to find. We took a taxi and had to ask several locals where the place was because there is no sign. But other than that its an awesome place. There is a huge open kitchen and the common areas are decorated really well. Its close to restaurants and food markets. I would definitely recommend!
What a wonderful time we had at the Jungle Villa! We saw more wildlife there than any other place we visited. Ad was a very good host. it was so exciting to hear the jungle at night time. Accommodations were pleasing. We originally booked just 2 days there, we liked it so much we booked 2 more days!
We had a wonderful stay at the Jungle Villa in Manuel Antonio! We will go back again. Ad was very helpful and kind. I especially loved hearing the Howler Monkey's in the early morning.
Staying at Jungle Villa really was a pleasure. The team is welcoming and and really available. Ad gave me a lot of information before I came. The place is really lovely. Unfortunately, I did spend enough time to make the most of it. It is at 30 min walk and 5min drive from the beach and Manuel Antonio Park. A lot of places to eat around there and a super market not so far.
The place is a little hidden. When you take the little street in front of Byblos in Manuel, it will be right on your left. A little gate lost behind a wall of trees. There is no sign and you have to ring the bell.
You should be able to go to the park or quepos with a 500 colonnes collective taxi ride and even less with the bus. Count between 1500 and 3000 for non collective.
Our stay at Jungle Villa was absolutely amazing! The property is phenomenal- a large villa with lots of space, three fun pools, many areas to relax & sit, and tons of wildlife surrounding the place. We stayed in the main room which was absolutely huge and very charming. We were there in the low season so we actually had the entire place to ourselves & it was extremely economical. We stayed two nights and enjoyed the sounds of the jungle- we heard all kinds of nature including birds, frogs and monkeys. The place is hidden from all others and the owner Ad has great directions to get there without any problems. The area is very secure and we felt very safe the entire time. We had many great conversations with the owner Ad and enjoyed talking with him, a very delightful man of world travels. This property is great if you enjoy nature with great views looking to the ocean but like Ad has told us its not for people looking for supreme luxury. It's in the jungle so naturally there's going to be geckos, lizards, and occasional bugs present. The last night we saw about 10 squirrel monkeys hanging out on one palm branch closest to the sitting area- pretty cool! Overall it was a wonderful stay and Ad knows how to run the place! The location is great- near many places to eat and a short drive to Manuel Antonio National Park. Thank you for a great end to our Costa Rica stay.
Good value and a lovey place to stay! The rooms were very big (almost too big), WiFi was available, and there was a kitchen to cook meals. A car is helpful as the National Park is about a 5-10 minute drive. Ad was very friendly. However, the place is hard to find. We didn't have a GPS and without a sign (we also arrived at night, in the rain) we were lost for about 20 minutes.
Of all properties in Costa Rica, we have the most detailed location description. On our location page guests find: 1) Our exact location on (website hidden) Maps 2) Our GPS coordinates 3) Instructions how to program a GPS 4) Aerial view of the villa and surrounding hotels 5) Driving directions to the villa from San Jose area in text and maps. All or part of this info can be printed out or saved to a mobile device.
great place....close to local transport if you don't have a vehicle. walking distance to many eateries, which is nice. Ad is a very nice host and good to ask questions about how to get around. Really enjoyed the relaxing vibe of the place itself. And the monkey visit was amazing. Martha and Jason..the grounds keeper and security guard were very helpful. In Advance, let Ad know if you need to use laundry services and make sure the a/c is working if you will be needing it at night! Make sure you discuss this before hand!!! Also Wifi is restricted to only the kitchen/common area, not very private if there are others, still manageable but not what we expected. Not any clear signs as to how to find it, which doesn't make it easy but if you find the Byblos hotel and bar you are across the street on a downward path. After like 70 meters you will see a green gate on your left and you have arrived, ring the intercom.
Although Emilio and his wife were very pleasant company, we were disappointed we had an incident with them about using our washer and dryer. Of course we have a washer and dryer in our big villa, but that's not an amenity for our guests as everyone can see on our list of amenities.. We need the washer and dryer for our own washing needs. There are at least 4 public laundry services in Quepos and Manuel Antonio, the nearest one being 2 min. drive away. But Emilio saw our washer and started to use our washer and dryer without asking permission and without any payment.
Visitors of Costa Rica should realize that 1) Costa Rica has very high import duties and taxes on luxury imported goods like washers and dryers 2) Costa Rica has the highest electricity rates in the World which are increased by 20 to 30 percent every year! The more KwH you use in Costa Rica, the more you pay per KwH. I know hotels nearby who pay US$ 900 a month for just the electricity their swimming pool pump is using.
Before new guests are arriving we make sure the air-conditioning are working ok and that the guests only have to press the On/Off button, nothing more.
Our wifi works in the entire 4000-square feet common area and in most bedrooms. The common area has 5 terraces with a total of 30 seats, enough privacy to go online wherever you want to sit.
This was our first time stay via Airbnb at a private owner's. Overall it was a good experience.
Me and my husband visiting from California stayed in the room upstairs for two nights during third week of April 2013.
The building looked kind of an old structure and the room had very different floor plan. It was quite spacious. Lots of towels available in the bathroom so you don't have to ask for beach towels.
The shared kitchen had basic amenities like coffee maker.. And the patio had amazing view.
I imagined monkeys hopping around given that it was "Jungle villa". But unfortunately during our two nights stay I didn't get to see any. Although I heard them passing by very early in the morning (5-6 am); probably monkey's didn't want to wait for me to wake up ;)
Ad is a nice fellow to talk to and provided good information around.
One little inconvenience - we never got to keep the keys to our room like normally in hotels. Every time when going out we had to leave them back; and when coming back wait for someone to receive at the main entrance and pick up the keys from reception. Good for security though.
Given that we didn't spend much time on the room, don't have any complaints. It was good value for money for $50.
