AirBnB's TOP-RANKED Malibu property - The 5-star Malibu Yurt and the Zen Retreat with 140 guest reviews!

Ocean Views in Malibu on an Organic Citrus Farm with private pool entrance, bathroom and patio just for you!

Enjoy our Organic Home-Cooked Meals prepared from scratch just for you. See the Menu under the section "Interaction with Guests' To reserve a meal with us on the ocean-view sun deck or dining room, just send me a note.

The Zen Room at Malibu Orchards is an airy room with wide panoramic sliding doors that look out onto prIstine parklands and the Pacific Ocean beyond. With a private bathroom and balcony, it has its own private entrance alongside the pool in an organic Meyer Lemon orchard nurtured by a professional couple that embrace diversity.

The Zen Room was inspired by author Bibi Jordan's travels through Japan where Nature is the focus of every interior. The clean aesthetic interior featuring bamboo floors and Japanese tensu chests takes a back seat to the 180 degree views of canyon and sea. From your feather-bed for two with fluffy down comforters, you can watch the dawn paint the sky pink in the morning or the constellations illuminate the sky at night. A private bathroom features a shower large enough for two. Throw open the double glass doors onto your own private outdoor ‘sitting area' with table and chairs overlooking the nature-scape of canyons and sea. Occupying its own level of the main house and with its own private approach, the Zen Room lets you immerse yourself in the joy of the surroundings and your companion(s).

The Zen Room accommodates two in the bed nook. An air mattress can be set up for another two.. A tea-and-coffee bar is provided, and three-course home-made meals and/or breakfasts cooked just for you from organic produce from our vegetable garden and local farmers can be arranged at reasonable prices.

If you request an additional queen-bed air mattress, there is a $15 house-keeping charge. For additional guests beyond the standard two guests, there is a $30 charge per additional guest per night.

In this rustic retreat, you'll enjoy the tranquility of a sustainable life style in the midst of our organic orchard and organic gardens watered with our own spring water. Just a little over a mile up a scenic canyon road from the Pacific Coast Highway, our neighborhood is home to deer, coyotes, raccoons and hawks and just a few families. Floating above the coast, the property has amazing views of the canyon and the ocean beyond with limitless lookouts for sunrise, sunset, moonrise and star-gazing. Surrounded by our Meyer lemon and avocado orchard, the Zen Room is complemented by our organic vegetable gardens and free-range chicken.
Home-cooked organic meals featuring our own garden-fresh produce and local wines can be (EMAIL HIDDEN)mitted to an ecological lifestyle, we alert guests to a few limitations. Well-behaved children over the age of 8 are welcome.. Wifi is available from 6 am to 11 pm., but no TV. No loud music. No parties or non-paying guests unless cleared by the management. Smoking allowed outside only, on decks or patio - use ashtrays only. This is a highly flammable wildlife area.

Please note that there is no kitchen associated with the ZEN reTREAT. You may bring take-out food to eat on your patio or by the pool. When weather is inclement, you may eat in the room, but please try to take advantage of the numerous outdoor picnic areas we offer. We provide basic disposable, bio-degradable picnic-ware. Note that all left-over food must be thrown immediately in the garbages. Do NOT throw left-over food in the toilet or wash plates in the sink. Please clean up immediately any crumbs or scraps to avoid an ant infestation. There is a small fridge by the pool bar for storage of limited drinks and supplies. Please respect our privacy by not asking to use the kitchen in our house.

We also want to advise guests that this is a working orchard and vegetable garden. People uncomfortable with domestic animals (dogs, chickens) or scared by the sounds of canyon animals (coyotes, owls, song birds) may prefer an urban location. Also, those who are very light sleepers should consider using earplugs if the possible sounds of coyotes, owls, or dogs keep them awake. While we strive to avoid walking on the deck which is above your room before 10:00 a.m., we may be walking across the deck as we go about farm work etc. during the day which many guests find fascinating.

Whether you wish to retreat to Nature or explore the surroundings, you have a wide choice of activities. Our canyons and beaches boast world-class mountain biking, hiking, horse-riding, wine-tasting, surfing and sunbathing. Nearby are local restaurants and hangouts while the towns of Westlake Village & Thousand Oaks are just 15 miles away to the north. There are hiking trails right out your door which access Nicholas Canyon Park and lake as well as Leo Carillo State Park. We can arrange trail guides, horseback lessons and trail rides locally, as well as rental of sur(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)oards, wet suits, and mountain bikes. Yoga, dance, Pilates, acupuncture, massage, and gym usage can also be arranged.

While secluded, we are easily accessible by major roads. A 3 minute drive down the canyon takes you to Pacific Coast Highway's most pristine beaches in southern California. It's just a few more miles to beautiful Malibu town and pier with all lots of shopping, dining and recreational opportunities. A 12 minute drive in the other direction takes you to the Ventura Freeway for easy access to Burbank. Downtown L.A., Disney land and beyond. Or heading north to Ventura, Santa Barbara, Pismo Beach, and other sights on the way to San Francisco.

The Neighborhood

Malibu West is the real, authentic Malibu populated by the surfers, ranchers, and artists that together create a unique environment. While neighbors are hardly visible here in our canyon, a great way to enjoy the architecture of the area is to stroll along the shore of Broad Beach where many Malibu celebrities live.

Getting Around

Having a car is best, but if you don't we can pick you up at the bus stop at Trancas down the road.

Other Things to Note

It is very important to PRINT OUT and BRING the Directions/Home Manual etc. with you so you know where we are, where to park, the gate code, the dog policy, etc.

At check out, please refer to the check list so that you leave the room just as you found it (but without making the bed, of course). No guests without prior arrangements. No pets. No children under 12.

No parties. No loud music or loud conversations. No smoking indoors and only in designated areas. Use ash trays - this is a flammable area.

Do not use our white towels for a bathmat... if the bathmat gets wet, please put it out in the sun to dry. Keep screened doors shut. Wash all make-off your face before using our white towels. Feel free to brush your hair outdoors - you'll enjoy seeing the birds gather strands to weave into their nests.
