This tropical style house is 1.2 km to town, with 1.5 compact rooms, spacious outdoor living area a 2.4m deep cold pool set in a private tropical garden,
simple kitchen, hot shower, Wifi. Away from the hustle and bustle of town.
Great place for yoga practice, It feels 2 degrees cooler when you come through the gate, good shade from trees and the thatched roof over the outdoor living
1.5 simple compact bedrooms, King bed with space in the room, and a Queen bed with very little space, both with mosquito nets and standing fans, the house is designed for maximum airflow. 2.4m deep cold pool, nice tropical garden, large thatched balcony that has table and chairs, a long couch and a day bed, that can double as an extra bed, the kitchen has double gas rings, fridge, coffee maker, drinking water comes free, sheets are changed twice weekly, hot water in the bathroom (shower), car parking on the road about 40m away. This house is set up for motor bikes really, as it is down a lane, undercover parking for motor bikes right on the door step, it is set back from the road, 1km down into town. The thing that is lacking is cupboards, but I think they are a mistake in a tropical climate, I have put in rails and coat hangers to hang your clothes on. No extra charge for guests. There is a dog that lives next door she think this house is hers as well, she is a bit noisy, to start, but she will warm quickly. good drainage on the block, there is no mold in the walls. lots of padded white leather, the place looks great, soft and comfortable, good wifi. No television or AC, I am sure you will find this place relaxing and inspiring if you need to work, or just lie around in the pool.
Its all yours
Interaction with Guests
gardener every 2 days, pool and house cleaner twice a week. The owner and manager will check you in her name is Putu. if you want daily cleaning service, you can arrange that on check in (extra cost).
just out of the edge of town far enough to get away from the hustle, yet close enough to make getting anything you may need easy. small good restaurant nearby, 24 hour convenience store at the end of the road. lots of good restaurants in town.
If you are not planning on renting a motor bike and you are only in Ubud for a short period then I would suggest staying somewhere closer to town, although it is only 1.2 km to town, it is hot and humid here. There are many taxis waiting to bring you back from town. its a downhill walk to town.
Other Things to Note
This house can be a little hard to find, I guess that is why it is private, so once you have booked in you will get the directions, I suggest you print them.
The ceiling inside the house is fabric, there is no rats in the ceiling.
Once a month or so the family (owners) come through and place offerings in the temples in the garden. (there are many ceremonies days in Bali) They are responsible for the spiritual well being of the land, this is an everyday type of thing for them, so relax and just carry on as normal, or get a sarong, sash and smart shirt on and make an offering yourself.
Ubud is a cultural town, there is a sound system in the house but try not to impose your music on the neighbors (all western), no check in or check out time if there is another guest in the house during the change over time, please allow them to leave their things till they go to the airport or wherever they are going on to next.(I do try to keep quite days between bookings)
cut your own coconuts from the trees
top up the pool from time to time if it gets low
The reservation was canceled 9 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The reviews above all seem pretty accurate. I had a great stay here. I travel and work, all I need is wifi, and this house had great wifi. I used it as a base to explore the area, I think the location is actually pretty good, you should definitely get a bike though, but it was nice being just a km outside of the town on a quiet street. Lots of bugs and wildlife - you're in the nature, just bring mosquito repellant. Hosts were great, they hooked me up with a very cheap scooter for the whole trip, came by everyday to clean the pool and we all had a nice dinner before I left!
We had a great time at Ubud house. As you'd expect given the price, it's fairly basic, but the beds where ok and it was fairly clean. The pool is fantastic, a great way to cool off on warm, humid days. Kadek picked us up and brought us back to the airport for a reasonable fee and has been our transport on a few occasions. That helped a lot as the place isn't that easy to find. City centre is a short walk away (little bit more than a km). If we ever come back to Ubud we would try to book here again.
We enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen and living area are outside and terrific for lounging on the day beds and having drinks in the evening. You can expect ants to be crawling around but they aren't too bothersome. The inside of the house isn't much, just beds with mosquito nets and a bathroom. The house is all open so anyone renting must be ready to share the house with bugs and geckos. Also some water can get into the main room during especially heavy rains. The city is fairly close, but I definitely recommend that you rent a scooter for getting around. Ngurah who manages the house is super nice and helped us out a ton while we were there.
We had a great stay here, it was a much quicker walk to central Ubud then we thought, it was a nice simple 10 minute walk. A really sweet and friendly family own the place, thanks again!
The house is amazing, lovely garden, beautiful pool. Very quiet sorroundings and very close to the city center.
Would deff recomend the experience.
Thanks Matt, Ngurah and Putu.
I am Mat a Drummer and designer. Ngurah and Putu are the family who own the land, I manage the bookings, They check you in.
Ubud is cultural, not a real party place, it is the place to see the richness of the Balinese Hinduism, many dance performances, museums, arts and crafts to explore, great restaurants, There are some late night bars.
I travel to learn, not a big picture taker
my basses are in Byron Bay, Ibitha, or England depending on where summer is.
In Ibitha i stay with a very traditional family. when we sit down to lunch every thing on the table come from the house, the bread is made from wheat that was grown just down the hill, ground in the garage and baked in an earthern oven.
In Ubud Ngurah and Putu let me stay here for free!!! and I help design and fix the place up, Ubud is a relax between hemispheres place for me, massage, juice the sound of gamalan in the distance.
In England, I play shows at festivals and venues
In Byron Bay I study with my friend greg sheehan a master drummer and epervesent teacher.
I love life and rich experiences, big money is not required
