Great location, central and yet secluded. Danielle is quick to respond to any inquiries.

We quite enjoyed our week in Playa Carmen. Danielle’s place is well situated. Close to the grocery, the bakery, laundry and most important the surf shop. The bed was comfortable and though we were close to a bar, it never stopped us from having a good night sleep. The fridge was a bit small for us but we managed. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend.

This place will grow on you. Upon arrival, and after a long day of travel, my family and I were a little turned off by this place because it seemed too small, hot and dirty for a family of 4 with 2 children under 5 years old. However, we kind of fell in love with the place. Our kids loved the outside seating area, where they played on the swing chairs and watched all the monkeys, squirrels and insects in the jungle. My wife and I also loved this space after getting the kids to bed for drinks and games and nocturnal wildlife viewing. It was a little small for a family. My wife and kids slept in the mosquito net bed, and I slept on the single, but bugs were not really an issue at night time. The fan kept us cool enough and I think warded off flying insects. We had a bit of an ant invasion on the patio, but that's due to our messy kids dropping food. We just swept them away every once in a while. The kitchen area is not the best for preparing full on meals for a family, but we did make some noodles and simple things. Overall our stay was great, and will be a very happy memory from our first big trip with our kids. Thanks Danielle!

The mosquitoes were insufferable. I realize that is a common problem in this area. However this is the least sealed house I’ve ever stayed in. In the house construction, such as where the roof meets the walls, there is no barrier to the outside. There were also giant holes in the window screens as well. Seeing that the rest of the house was porous, I guess window screens are only a facade, as was the mosquito net. There were mosquitoes inside of the net when we arrived. There were other smaller issues that were very fixable. Such as the front door lock was very difficult to stick the key into and turn (WD-40!), the bathroom door dragged on the floor and was very difficult to open and/or shut, the toilet spit water out of it every 3rd flush or so. The pans we were provided to cook with were all near impossible to clean even after using oil to cook with (no non-stick). The house had multiple lights/lamps within it, however many of the bulbs were burnt out when we arrived. This problem was promptly fixed and we were provided with light bulbs to replace the faulty ones, however, there were still lights that did not work properly due to electrical problems. The wifi was very spotty and did not work a majority of the time. It is important to note that the bathroom and shower are not indoors at all. They are adjacent to, but completely outside of the room. There is a roof over the area, but it is completely open to the outdoors. Additionally, the shower was cold – no hot water. The crabs that visited frequently in the bathroom and shower were kind of freakish but cool. Regarding location, it was right in the epicenter of town and very close to the beach which was great. We did get a lot of wildlife (in addition to insects) and that was a plus. There are two nice cats that frequented our porch, as well as a timid opossum. There were daily howler monkey sightings and they were actually quite close which was also very exciting to see. Howler monkeys are in trees all over the city however and you can run into them just as closely walking down the street. Hummingbirds and butterflies were abundant. If you are looking for a great location, this is the place. If you are looking for luxury and comfort, I would consider very closely what you are and what you are not willing forgo. I would liken the experience to deluxe camping in the beautiful jungle.

We loved that we saw so much wildlife just from the front porch. Definitely a great place to spend our first few nights in Costa Rica. So close to shops and restaurants and the beach!

AMAZING!!! We stayed here for the last 3 nights of our Costa Rica adventure and loved it. Great location next to one of the best bars in town. You will feel right at home and one of the locals staying here. The families of howler monkeys in the back yard was a cool experience. Danielle was super happy to help out with any questions we had and point us in the right direction to the best places to rent surf boards and go for dinner/drinks. Could not have asked for a better place and we will definitely be going back to visit again soon.
