This is one of the best Airbnbs we have ever stayed at. Located almost exactly in the center of SF, it's ridiculously convenient to walk everywhere. Chuck is a local who's watched SF grow for the past 25 years, and he knows everything about the city. Hanging out with him for a bit was one of the highlights of our trip-- he's generous, thoughtful, and hilarious. The apartment itself was clean and inviting, complete with a list of restaurant/bar recommendations made by Chuck, and we felt right at home. Definitely recommend staying here.

Central location and Chuck and Julie are lovely hosts. Not for fussy people though. The house is a little on the old side so you have to be ok with that!

Upon arriving my friend that I was vacationing with and I met Julia. Julia gave us a few suggestions on where to get food and showed us around the apartment. Julia stays in the living room, very laid back and helpful without being pushy. The apartment it's self is an older one. The best word to describe their cleaning style is "hippy". We were provided clean towels but they are scratchy so I suggest bringing your own. Also almost none of the doors close all the way without the help of a hook lock, which still leaves a gap in the doorway of the bathroom with the shower. We were not comfortable showering for that reason so it's probably noteworthy. Also Chuck uses the "selective flush" rule, meaning in the bathroom it's written not to flush your urine, only your #2. In my opinion that should be listed in his house rules on his airbnb profile. I was not thrilled to wake up to a toilet full of another mans pee, but that's just me. To each his own. There is no ac in the unit, and your room has one window that looks out on Chuck's back porch where he smokes cigarettes. My friend was woken up in the morning and asked to close the window so that he could smoke which was a turn off for us. The roof was a huge factor in my choice to book this listing, it's beautiful. I sat out there at night and looked at SF glittering quietly and it was really peaceful. Also the location is pretty central. We walked to most places and everywhere else was a short car ride away, definitely reasonable for those using public transit or lyft. I would say that this listing would be best suited for people accustomed to staying in hostels or couch surfing due to Chucks extremely laid back demeanor and lifestyle. I would not suggest this listing to those with children, chronic pain (three flights of stairs, not an amazing mattress) or those looking for a lot of privacy.
