Interaction with Guests
I was born & raised in Wilmington - plus even worked for the tourist visitor center - so I'm just the person to help you make the most of your time in our state as well as the region (you can easily take day trips to NYC, Philadelphia, Baltimore & Washington DC). Plenty of guidebooks & pamphlets provided for you to browse as well.
In the mood for something to eat? Just a few blocks away you have a variety of delicious options. Choose Mikimotos if you want the best sushi place in town. Or visit the Washington Street Ale House for good burgers, etc & a huge on tap beer selection. More of a fine dining person? Visit Domaine Hudson - known for their wine list. Of course the Presto coffee shop is also right there if you just want a latte, smoothie or light snack/sandwich (they stay open til 10pm Sun-Thurs & 11pm Fri/Sat).
About the park: You'll be staying steps from the southern end of picturesque Brandywine Park. Walk through the mile-long free public park which runs along both sides of the river and offers 178 acres of walking paths, gardens and footbridges. You’ll encounter stands of Japanese cherry trees, formal gardens, noted sculpture and architecture and the Brandywine Zoo. Follow wooded trails to Trolley Square and Alapocas Park.
Centrally located and easily accessible to major highways (less than a mile to I-95) and shopping/dining on Route 202/Concord Pike (there is NO sales tax in Delaware!). Right on DART bus public transit route and just 1.5 miles from Amtrak/SEPTA station and Greyhound bus station. Only a 20 minute drive from the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL). Depending upon your arrival time & my schedule, I can pick you up from the bus/train station (no charge) or from the airport (surcharge).
Other Things to Note
**I DO have cats & a small dog - during your stay, they are confined to my personal bedroom. If you &/or your travel companion have pet allergies, please take this into consideration before making a reservation.**
Did I leave something out? Please feel free to ask.
I look forward to meeting you!
Mi casa es su casa! I want you to be comfortable during your stay, so you're welcome to put your feet up, eat or drink in any room and, of course, sleep in!
Just a few rules:
NO GUESTS - I'm happy to have you stay (of course!) but ask that you don't invite others over at any time.
NO SMOKING - Smoking is NOT allowed inside my place or on my screened in porch (but by all means, go outside or on the downstairs front porch).
NO PETS - I'm very much an animal lover but can't host any visiting pets since I already have a dog & two cats (who are kept in my bedroom during your visit, unless, of course, you'd enjoy their company).
Great first time experience with Airbnb. Jenna is a seasoned host and her accommodations were exactly as described.
The location across from Brandywine park was great. The area is "city residential" with many large old homes converted to multi-unit apartments. Parking was simpler than I expected. There was always a space near by. It is a resident permit parking area and Jenn made all the arrangements for a visitor permit.
The breakfast and snacks provided were beyond my expectations. Cereal, dairy, coffee, tea, pastries, granola bars, hand fruit, and this isn't the full list. Just wonderful.
Wow. The bed. Some sort of cosmic interaction between what Jenna calls a regular mattress and a pillow topper. I was expecting it to be too soft, but support wasn't an issue. It is truly what I would call comfy. It is impossible to read in this bed. Plenty of pillows to prop up, I just couldn't stay awake.
Very comfortable and great host. Jenna kept in touch, so no problem finding her place and getting inside. Very close to downtown. Nice pets and quite clean. Would certainly stay again.
Jenna was an exceptional host offering a great room in a charming neighborhood. Se had an excellent variety of breakfast foods and various chocolate treats. She provided excellent recommendations on dining facilities in Wilmington. I recomend her spot highly.
Thank you for your kind review, Noemi. I had to use Google Translate since I can only figure out a few German words. :) For everyone else as well, here is the English translation:
My sister and I spent three nights at Jenna's. We enjoyed it very much. Jenna was super sweet and helpful. She gave us lots of information about the city and great sightseeing tips. The apartment and the rooms were clean and look like the pictures. Jenna was even so kind and picked us up from the train station and brought us back. We were very pleased and would definitely recommend Jenna.
I rent the place with Jenna for my parents to stay one night before we go visit NYC. They loved Jenna, she was very kind and helpful. She always replied all my messages really quick and the room was just like in the pictures, tidy and clean. The location was very convenient, we were going to get a bus close to the train station and it was very close. I would definitely recommend it cuz it was a great experience!
Jenna is a fantastic person. She is very friendly , kind and accomodating. I was very impressed by her personality, she does so many versatile activities, has a busy life and always keeps smiling. She is the kind of a person anyone will like to be friends with. She have kept the house very organised. The room was beautiful and has a nice view. For me plenty of light is very important and from that perspective, the room was perfect. The bed was super comfortable. Jenna was generous with the snacks and there was bottled spring water in the room along with candies. The kitchen was loaded and there were so many options of having a very nice breakfast.
Jenna was an excellent host! My best airbnb experience yet. She has many thoughtful touches that make your stay so very comfortable. There are helpful notes and maps for navigating around, lots of snacks and breakfast items available to you and bottled water in the room. She had great suggestions for things to do in town, and is so, so sweet and welcoming. I'd highly recommend staying with Jenna to anyone coming to Wilmington. Thanks again, Jenna!

About the Host, Jenna
I've been an Airbnb host for over 2 years (since May 2013). It has been such a great experience that in July 2015 I'm expanding from a 2 bedroom apartment to a 4 bedroom house to accommodate more guests in a lovelier, more spacious home.
I've been blessed to have nearly 100 different wonderful guests (& even repeat guests) stay with me. Whether they stay a night, a weekend, the week, or a month or more (internships, work transfers etc), I always enjoy the conversation and friendships that are formed. I look forward to seeing my past guests when I'm in their area.
I love to experience all that life has to offer - from art to festivals to volunteering. I also enjoy live music and theatre as well as trying new restaurants/cuisines. I'm a positive person who's down to earth and ambitious (& a non-smoker - just thought I'd throw that in there). In life I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason - no such thing as coincidences.
Born and raised in Delaware and love it here but I renewed my passport last year & hear the world beckoning to me. I truly love to travel (did 4 months in Europe, 4 cruises, month long US road trip). In 2013 I spent 10 days in Hawaii - my first Airbnb guest experience, which inspired me to be a host myself. I value the personal enrichment of experiencing different cultures, languages and food. When I visit a place I like to get the "locals" experience and understand their daily way of life (plus they always know the best restaurants and things to do).
