THE LOCATION AND HOME
This beautiful, warm, large home is located in an exclusive and very safe area of Burbank known as the Rancho Equestrian. The area is dedicated to homes with horse stables. Our home was built in 1938 in the Art Moderne style, with curving walls and hardwood floors throughout. The house was renovated in 2006 and the interior again in 2011
Hollywood star Ava Gardner and her husband (#2), big band jazz musician Artie Shaw lived here in the early 1940's.
The guest room is a spacious 15' x 12' with windows on two sides. It includes a 6' x 6' walk-in closet. The room also includes a 32' Sony TV, DirectTV with over 500 free channels, large desk, free internet connection, shelf space, mini-frig, and a private full bathroom.
The house has a library with over 1,000 books for your enjoyment, a large, comfortable living room with wood burning fireplace. The beautiful dining room seats 12 and has wall to wall, floor to ceiling windows and French doors opening to the patio rose garden. We have a large, modern, eat-in kitchen. Central air conditioning and heating.
A complimentary continental breakfast is included; box lunches are available for a small fee. Internet and DirecTV included. Upon request, free fax, copier, scanner, laptop computer, and printer. Laundry facilities.
Outside, we're on a double sized lot where there are four gardens, of which two are secluded by high walls, with over 100 rose bushes, fruit trees (guava, peach, apple, apricot, cuties), and extensive various species of lavender.
For musicians and songwriters, we have a detached High Sierras style cabin entirely paneled in honey colored knotty pine and fully instrument-equipped for qualified musicians. Built-in fireplace.
We have a horse stable with four stalls and a turn-out for those who want to bring their horses for an additional stabling fee. The Los Angeles Equestrian Center, a premier horse facility, is 8 minutes walk from our house. At least 6 stables with rental horses and guides are within close walking distance with over 200 miles of horse trails virtually across the street from us.
Plenty of off street parking for cars or even oversize rigs. Many visitors and local residents walk here.
Several restaurants are within walking distance, some with live music nightly.

I really enjoyed staying at Phyllis and Randy's. Phyllis and Randy warmly welcomed my wife, me and our little cat and accommodated all our needs very well. I'd like to stay in their house again when we visit Los Angeles area next time.
Phyllis and Randy were very welcoming, kind and friendly. Their home is beautiful and immaculate in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood which is centrally located. The bedroom was roomy and had a large closet with mini fridge. The bed was so comfortable that we wanted to see what kind of mattress it had the next morning. Coffee was ready and 5:30 am and Phyllis offered many breakfast choices. We will definitely stay here again when we are visiting our family who lives nearby.
Phyllis and Randy are very accommodating, the perfect AirBnB host; welcoming, thorough, and open to give great suggestions of places to see and things to do.
Hosts has very soft sheets in the bed, fresh roses cut from garden in the room ,TV, free Wi-Fi as well as the most plush towels imaginable for after your shower! Guest hair dryer was a life saver since we left ours at home!
Phyllis was kind enough to walk us in her backyard and introduce us to her horses and let us feed them and told us lots of fun stories! Wish we could have stayed longer and we had a wonderful time!
I and my boyfriend spent two days in Phyllis and Randy's home. It was a great experience to stay there! Phyllis and Randy are very nice and gave us much useful suggestion about trip. It is very nice of them to provide organic breakfast to us. The room is clean and in nice decoration, as the pictures posted. The bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, but it is convenient if you want to buy some food and other items in grocery store. The location is quite good because it is only a short time drive to universal studio and other tourist sites. The room cannot satisfy me more. I highly recommend it to others!
Phyllis was very nice. Unfortunately our stay was very short, we were in and out very fast so we couldn't enjoy all Phyllis had to offer. She had coffee ready for us in the morning that we weren't able to enjoy. She had clean towels and bedsheets and a very clean bathroom. She was very accommodating to all our needs and let us come and go as we pleased. Highly recommend her for anyone looking to stay in the Burbank area.
I contacted Phyllis for a last minute place to crash, as I had just arrived nearby at Bob Hope Airport on my way to a family funeral. Not only was my visit wonderful, with everything I needed for my stay, but Phyllis was much more than what I hoped for in a host. I choose to use AirBnB not just for the place but for the people I meet along the way. And Phyllis was such a treat to get to get to know, there's no doubt she has a regular customer in me whenever I'm in town. Her kindness and patience as I wrap up my weeks of travel are such a comfort. I hope you choose to stay here and have as wonderful of a visit as I had!

About the Host, Phyllis
I am a horse lover and spend as much of my time with them as possible. We breed the rare Andalusian breed originally from Spain (the horse on which most "Knight" chess pieces are modeled. Our horses are movie stars, have been featured in books and magazines and are all around worldly and wise. I love to travel, been to Poland, Hungry, Austria and England. Can't wait to see more of our beautiful planet. I am a music buff and appreciate all genres of music. My husband and I are both passionate, fun-loving people.
I'm Randy, the "horse-husband," skilled at mucking stalls and changing water buckets. In my spare time from that, I'm an attorney and a mortgage lending company owner. I'm also an owner of a fledgling film production company. Like Phyllis, I'm an avid reader, hence our large library, though my taste runs to classics and to baseball. I've been an adult league hardball baseball player for the past 17 years (left field). Taking a DL break this year and coaching instead. We both have a lot of other interests and enjoy good conversation over a glass of wine or cup of coffee.
