We love hosting outdoor and active people, especially world travelers! We have a great 2 bedroom house with a huge backyard and lots of toys. This listing is for a room, which comes with 2 bikes! You can also rent out the entire house!
If you want to have fun on your trip to Austin, you've found the right listing! We live in in a great neighborhood in a nice house and we know how to have good clean fun. We'd love to have you join us for a few nights or a week.
You'll get a bike (or two) with your booking and we will gladly invite you to join us in whatever we are doing for that day.
Our house has 2 bedrooms. If you prefer the entire house, please see our other listing. You can see those other listings on the right side of your screen.
We enjoy meeting new people and want you to see the best of austin.
The short: Our house is great. It's a central location where you can bike most places.
We have done AirBnB for three years and recently moved to this house with you in mind. Check out our reviews and rest assured that we are completely legal with the City of Austin.
Attractions & restaurants within walking/biking distance: St. Edwards University, Curra's mexican restaurant, Whip Inn, Starbucks, Hop Doddy, South Congress Cafe, Magnolias, Opal Divines, Hey Cupcake, Homeslice pizza.
Convention center is 2 miles away and really easy to get to. Airport is 15 minutes away and also really easy to drive there.
You can easily bike anywhere else in the city, and most of the times you can get there by biking the protected bike trail along the downtown river. The trails are safe, scenic, and fun.
The Whole Foods Flagship Grocery store is 2.3 miles away. It is good for people who like to eat healthy. Its a grocery store but it also has several eat-in options as well. The backyard is massive and totally enclosed by a privacy fence.
Now for the PLAY part: We have a tons of toys and we don't mind sharing. Think of us as local guides and not just someone who passes you the key. We would love for you to borrow our kayaks or canoe, and you must ride our bikes around the town lake trail. For those who really like the play, I would love to take you scuba diving the spring water, or you can borrow our snorkel gear and use it at Barton Springs. We also have golf clubs and disc golf frisbee's we wouldn't mind letting you borrow if you ask.
We can also help you find: good mountain biking trails, some spelunking, hiking trails, a place to surf the river, the best lookouts, secret springs, and alot more. Search "Aaron Guidehop" to see where I give other people local tours of outdoor adventures.
If you need a rental car, we have those too! We rent using a site called relay rides. I bet you can find my convertibles on there. We also have motorcycles and scooters. One has a sidecar!
The bottom line: We live in a nice house in the great neighborhood. You can ride our bikes anywhere you need to go and we will go out of our way to make sure you enjoy your time in Austin. What are you waiting for.... come Stay & Play!
You'll have access to everything except the master bedroom. Please take out our bicycles and kayaks!
Interaction with Guests
We like to play tour guide as much as possible. Most people enjoy it when we take them with us along on our adventures. We've taken people to play frisbee golf, barton springs, kayaking, surfing, etc. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned, but we can respect your privacy too. We'll invite you to everything and you come or go, no worries!
We live just south of the area called Travis Heights and a short distance from South Congress in a tucked away neighborhood near St. Edwards University. There are lots of shops and restaurants nearby. There is a good grocery store less than a mile away. Our neighborhood has a lot of hiking trails through numerous nature preserves.
There are plenty of bus stops nearby, but using UBER is even better. Use the code: C2AJM to get $20 off your first ride.
Other Things to Note
Look through all of our photos. I try to show you fun stuff to do around Austin and those things are mixed in with our photos. We will go the extra mile to make sure you have a great trip. Our 150+ reviews will show you that!
We are pretty laid back; however, we ask that you respect our neighborhood and keep it down after 10pm. Smoking is fine outside of the house. Please wash your own dishes and clean up after yourself.
Aaron was a fantastic host! He made us feel right at home; very "mi casa es su casa". The house is a very quick, easy drive from downtown and takes you past so much great stuff you might never make there anyway! Looking forward to planning another trip just to stay with him again and take advantage of all the outdoorsy stuff he has to offer...the weather was uncooperative during our staff, but that gives us an excuse to go back. Everything here exceeded what I've come to expect as a great experience with AirBnB. Stay here, you won't regret it!!!
I had a most pleasure time stayingwith my host Aaron. The Air B and B that I stayed at was clean and was in a very convenient location. Aaron went beyond the call of duty to make sure I had everything I needed. I would without a doubt, stay there again.
Darby and Aaron were phenomenal hosts! As strange as it sounds, we so enjoyed getting to know them that I truly hope we stay friends for years to come. I have so many praises to sing about our stay. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived, and the house was exactly as shown in the pictures - clean, spacious, and ADORABLE (kudos, Darby!). They stayed just a stone's throw from the house, so we felt completely private in the house, yet checked in on us just enough to be sure we had everything we needed. We fell in love with Austin, partially because of their own love for their city, and everything was so closely accessible from their place (never more than a 10 minute drive to anywhere in the city). One day they took us kayaking on the river and showed us "their" Austin (the more outdoorsy side). We loved it, and would definitely stay here again if we make it back to Austin. Caution: nearly everyone who has stayed with Aaron and Darby has since decided to move to Austin because they loved it so much. I definitely spent some time daydreaming about it, myself!

Aaron made me feel welcome from the get-go by text messaging to check in with me and let me know if I had any questions to contact him at any time. When I arrived you could see that Aaron was amiable right away, making me feel welcome within minutes. He showed me the tour of the home, the facilities, and all the extra amenities that included vespas, cars available for rent, paddle boards, kayaks, and bikes. He also went out of his way to find and recommend activity spots for my daughters and me during my whole visit.
The listing is exactly as shown; the bed was more than comfortable and the room very home-y with family photos, books, and other personal effects that added to the warmth of the place.
The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet. It is also conveniently very close to the freeway which made my visit all the more convenient. The backyard is extensive; the patio is charming with chairs, a table, and a hammock.
Overall, Aaron and his wife are people that would benefit anyone to meet or know. They are smart, interesting, and very congenial. I would highy recommend anyone and everyone choose to stay here due to the host's willingness to make a visitor's stay more fun, interesting, relaxing, and accomodating.
Aaron hosted me for the weekend and I had such a good time. He is very accommodating and made my stay very easy. I'd recommend Aaron's place for anyone wanting an authentic Austin experience!
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying at the Aaron's place! The house is awesome, the guys are open-hearted and accommodating, and it's in the perfect location. We could not have asked for a better hosting experience.
Aaron and his housemates were really good hosts. If you plan on staying in Austin you should seriously consider Aaron's location for a variety of reasons, the best of which are the location and the amenities.
The house is in a perfect location for all the things I love about Austin and Central Texas. Incredibly convenient to Zilker Park and Barton Springs!!! Literally right down the street! Barton Springs Drive is full of good food and a juice shop. South Congress is very close. Downtown is right over Ladybird Lake. For getting out into the Hill Country like I love to do, you just cut through Zilker Park and head south onto Mopac...get out toward 290 or 71 for Hill Country Adventure. This house is PERFECTLY located.
Aaron has several bikes to use and a number of kayaks/canoes. We took some bikes out and had a great time on Ladybird Lake. We wanted to take the kayaks out but failed to make a proper appointment with Aaron, who offered to drive us and his kayaks down to Ladybird since we were in a rental car, not truck. The bikes and kayaks are huge draws for me. We rented two single kayaks at a nearby shop and spent $30 on those for just one hour. Aaron would have let us use his for hours and hours. We really missed out by not communicating with him.
Also under the amenities are the two bathrooms. The "Blue" bathroom has the fiercest water pressure I've ever encountered. It was like a massage. Impressive. The "Pink" bathroom has two shower heads. Take a shower here, for sure! Pretty luxe.
The backyard is super large and a great place to hang in between adventures. We were really excited about the giant trampoline, however there were enough springs missing to make it feel a little unsafe for us.
The room is a good room, clean and free of clutter. Large desk for spreading your stuff out on. Fan is available in the room...it can get hot in Texas. The one thing we ended up thinking Aaron's B&B could improve on was the mattress in this room. It is soft, which is not bad, but it cups in the middle, kinda like sleeping in pretty comfy cup. It was a little awkward at first and the only thing I would have done differently. Folks with back concerns or a love of firmer mattresses may want to consider something else.
All in all, if you love the Hill Country, Ladybird Lake, Zilker, Barton Springs, Downtown, South Congress, the Greenbelt of Lamar...you could not find a better location with more chill people eager to help you enjoy your time in Austin! Thanks Aaron!

Hi, my name is Aaron. I am your ultimate peer-to-peer host in Austin. I rent out my house, my cars, I give rides using Uber, and even give local tours! I'm all in.
I have been hosting on AirBnB for about 4 years now and I love it.
I love travel and adventure and i'm always excited about something. One thing you should know about me is that I never stop. It seems like there are never enough hours in the day for me. Around Austin, I like to: kayak, scuba dive, surf the river, play unicycle football, host island parties, ride my mountain bike and so much more. I'd love to have you tag along if you are up for that kind of activity.
I travel as much as possible. I've been to more than 40 countries and usually get around via hitchhiking. Some of my favorite places are: New Zealand, Cuba, Laos, Spain, Costa Rica & Switzerland. I recently went on a kayaking excursion through Mexico and snowboard as much as possible in Colorado.
In 2014, I helped rebuild a sailboat and sailed it to Cuba and beyond! I will be traveling all of september through Sweeden, Norway, & Croatia!
I believe that a world traveler is the ideal host. I want to make sure you have the best time possible. For me, air bnb is a lifestyle. I like to make sure our guests get the best Austin experience by inviting them to come along on my adventures and live like a local. The best guests are the ones who accept an invitation to join my friends and I and have a few travel stories of their own to share.
My listings are different than most because I'm going to show half photos of my house and then some photos of my favorite things to do in Austin. You can find a comfy bed anywhere on AirBnB, but you should choose me if you want the best insights into outdoors activities in Austin, especially if you are looking for someone to show you those places and provide any gear necessary.
If you want to see what type of fun we could have around Austin, use any search engine and type in the words aaron guidehop to see my profile. its a similar service to airbnb except for local tours and activities rather than accommodation.
I do have two houses in Austin. One is next to St. Edwards University near the area called "South Congress" or "SOCO" and the other is right beside Zilker Park and Barton Springs in an area called "Barton Hills" they are both really close to the city center and a few minutes from anywhere in downtown!
Staying with me is better because: You will always have access to good bicycles for free, I can pick you up from the airport most of the time, I can introduce you to a million people in austin & make good recommendations for your urban exploring, you can borrow my kayaks and canoe, I will invite you to join in nearly everything I do, I will make your stay easy and fun!
