Description

The space

Comfy, cozy bedroom with king sized bed where you will awake feeling are nestled amongst the trees! NOW WITH FIBER OPTICS! Beautiful home in hidden quiet neighborhood pocket, minutes from downtown, within walking distance to Zilker Park and Town Lake hike and bike trail. Bicycle and kayak/paddle board rentals available nearby. We have one upstairs bedroom that can sleep up to two people in comfy king sized bed. Enjoy your own, “hotel equipped” private bathroom. (It's not an "ensuite" but still private, right outside your bedroom door.)

Pricing may not be clear - it is $90 per night during the week, $110 during the weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and $195 per night during major Austin events such as SXSW and ACL. If you are looking for elegance and convenience, this is it! We also have a listing to rent out the entire house for these special events if you are interested.

There is no private entrance but coming and going is no problem. We ask that you remove your shoes upstairs as the floors are hardwood and make a lot of noise! Free Wifi is available. We have a flat screen TV in the bedroom with a Roku box with HBO/Showtime (no cable but who is coming to Austin to watch TV?!) And, if we are watching a film in the theater room, you are welcome to join us.

The neighborhood is beautiful. There are many great "local" restaurants within walking distance. Public transit is also within walking distance with music, film and convention hall venues easily accessible. There is also parking on the street in front of the house if you rent a car.

Do you have musical talent? We have a gorgeous Yamaha baby grand piano! We are open to anyone who would like to play and enjoy some music in this beautiful setting.

Our home is our pride and joy - a sacred space where many gather. We love people and love sharing our home with others. We promise you will enjoy the Austin experience in a peaceful and beautiful setting. You won't be disappointed!

Guest access

You will have access to 1 room with a king-sized bed and 1 bathroom upstairs as well as other common areas. If you desire more than one bed, we will charge extra for that. We have two ottomans that fold out into comfy twin beds that we can make available in the "office" upstairs but we prefer our guests to stay in one room. We have a convenient small fridge in your room and you may use the microwave or the small convection oven to heat food up. We do not provide access to cooking facilities other than what we have stated. We have a beautiful baby-grand piano if you play! We provide guest access to the Internet with Fiber. There is a color LCD TV with antenna and a ROKU box attached. We have a printer on the network if needed. Upon a confirmed reservation, we will send you a welcome package with lots of great information about the area - links to restaurants, fun activities, entertainment, bike rentals and other transportation.

Interaction with guests

We are very friendly and love to make new friends!

The neighborhood

The neighborhood is like a little oasis amidst the "almost" downtown area. It's close to everything yet provides an escape when needed. It is safe and generally very quiet (unless it's during ACL.) If you are a light sleeper, you may be affected by the train (about 1 mile away) that comes through at night sounding it's horn.

Getting around

As mentioned in our description, public transportation is easily accessible, walking trails are abundant, bike and kayak/stand up paddle board rentals are close by and easy parking in front of the house in case you rent a car. Within walking distance to ACL events at Zilker Park. Again, upon a confirmed reservation we will happily send you information about all of this!

This is a wonderful place to stay. The home is beautiful. The room is well appointed and the bed is very comfortable. The area is convenient to downtown and sightseeing. You're a 2 min walk to Zilker park, which is great for a run. There was also a free concert in the park one of the nights I stayed. (I heard it while running in the park.) The neighborhood quiet and residential set in trees. Yet it's a few minute drive to cafes, bars, and restaurants. You're 10 min from downtown, unless there is crazy traffic. Donna and Tom are extremely gracious. I was here on business and had little time to talk with them. But I found myself with a few free minutes on the last day, and enjoyed our talk over coffee before I headed to another day of meetings. Great coffee maker in the kitchen. I would stay here again.

Donna and Tom were warm and welcoming hosts. We felt comfortable in their home and enjoyed the peace and serenity it offered. Their home was in a great location, close to restaurants, pubs, wilderness and downtown Austin. The oak trees in their yard were amazing, the bed very comfortable and the regard that Tom and Donna showed us made us feel welcomed and right at home. Will definitely come back the next time we are in Austin!

Donna and Tom were very welcoming hosts and have a beautiful home. The upstairs suite is perfect for a quiet retreat at the end of a day exploring all that Austin has to offer. Tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood, it's quiet yet still walkable to public transit and nearby restaurants. They gave us lots of local advice and suggestions for things to see and do and places to eat. Overall, a wonderful stay that I would certainly repeat.

Donna And Tom User ProfileDonna And Tom is a superhost.

Loving living in Austin, TX - working as a consultant teaching presentation skills at UT. Tom, my husband, is VP of Marketing for a software company. I am a teacher of emotional education and training people in first class presentation skills. We are both musicians as well - Tom is a drummer and I am a singer. We love meeting new people, traveling around the world and movies. And, we definitely love food! More recently, we are licensed HAM operators - I have my "technicians" license while Tom has the highest level of licensing. (Just in case you are interested, we are KGB RF - Tom and KG5 OUW - Donna.) Tom is also studying Morse Code! We welcome those who are looking for a wonderful space to stay for SXSW and ACL...and any other time of the year!
