If you want to shop “Via Tuscolana” is the place for you; it is one of the most famous shopping streets of Rome and it is much cheaper than the city center, it can be reached in 5-6 minutes from my apartment. In addition, the district has everything you need: supermarkets (Sachop, near the metro station is open until 21.30), low cost food shops, household shops, coffee houses and newsagents, a 6 screens cinema, pharmacies (also at night), pizzerias and restaurants.. All these can be easily accessible by walking; forget the car and start enjoying Rome!
The subway stop “Porta Furba - Quadraro” on the A Line is just a 5-6 minute walk from the apartment.
Subway trains are running Sunday to Thursday 5:30am to 11:30pm and Friday-Saturday 5:30am to 1:30am. During subway closing time you can easily get the night bus N1 which run on the same route as the Subway A Line.
The subway takes you to Termini Station in 10 minutes, Spanish Steps in 15 and at the Vatican in 20 minutes.
If you want to reach the Colosseum and the Imperial Forum, just get off at Termini and take the B line to Colosseo and you will be catapulted in ancient Rome with lots of gladiators and chariots in just about 15 minutes.
For those coming from Fiumicino Airport there is the Terravision bus (6€) to Termini Station or the city train that will take you to Tuscolana Station (ticket is only € 8) and from there you can take the Subway at Ponte Lungo (5 mins walk); it's only 4 stops from Porta Furba, the closest station to my apartment.
For those coming from the Ciampino Airport, take the local bus to the subway stop Anagnina and from there you will be 6 subway stops to Porta Furba.

Roberta was an excellent host. She offered us several suggestions on the neighborhood, maps and tips for our stay in Rome. She also provided us with a cell phone that we could use to receive calls while we were there, which was very helpful on our first days there. The apartment was stocked with pretty much everything you would need to run a house. It was very convenient and made it feel like home. The apartment is a short walk to the metro and Roberta gave us excellent directions to get there. I definitely recommend her place.
Roberta was an amazing host. We found her apartment easily. The apartment itself was very clean, comfortable, secure and very homely. Would definetly recommend this apartment to anyone from singles, couples and families with up to 2 children, our boys are aged 14 & 15 and they fitted fine.
Delightful place! Stayed for 4 nights at the apartment all by myself. Despite the description, in reality the nearest subway (Porta Furba) is more like a 10mins walk away & is 9 stops away from Termini central station. However it takes abt 15mins to reach Termini cos the distance between each stop is really short. The neighbourhood is really quiet & convenient with a supermarket & convenience stores right above the subway station & nearby. The fridge is also well stocked with drinks. Roberta is really friendly & helpful in providing me with useful tips to make my stay in Rome more enjoyable. Last but not least, the place is really safe & secure. Thanks for everything Roberta! :)
Roberta is an excellent host and her place is awesome! Upon our arrival, Roberta met us at the metro stop. The apartment has everything you'd need whilst staying in Rome. She was also in contact with us before hand to confirm the stay and anything we may have needed. She was in contact with us during the stay to let us know that labour day was approaching and store hours may be shortened. Roberta also helped us figure out how to get to the airport from the apartment. A quiet neighbourhood, close to a grocery store, and many other shops! Highly recommend.
Roberta is an thoughtful and sensible host. She has taken care of almost everything which travelers need on arriving to a new city.
Inside the house :
There was a packed milk bottle, tea, coffee, a pack of pasta, new toothpaste, new soaps for shower, shaving razors, bottle of wine, a laptop, a mobile phone to call her if needed. The house had good WiFi internet. There was a washing machine with detergent, stand to dry clothes, iron and ironing table too.
The kitchen is large and power-packed with lots of dishes, cups and glasses and cutlery. There is a big dining table for 6 people.
There is LCD TV. Although we never got time to check the channels.
There are lots of blankets and towels for use. There is also universal adapters and mobile chargers in house.
An important thing I would like to mention is that the apartment has electric geyser which heats water instantly. Many other houses in Italy have old styled geyser which stores water and takes time to heat and you have to wait. Generally the old style heaters has capacity for 2-3 people. So the people who want to shower next need to wait till water heats again. In Roberta's apartment, we were five people and had shower one after another, and still the water was always hot.
The toilets has lots of mats so floor does not get wet and your feet do not feel cold.
Location and connectivity:
Is 5-10 minutes walk from Metro A Porta Furba. And then from Metro, you need just 15-20 minutes to reach city center as well as Roma Termini without need to change.
The house is on ground floor, in a silent and safe locality.
Not many great options to eat nearby (or maybe I did not notice them).
There are few small markets managed by Bangladeshi people. These are a bit costly but can be ok for emergency. If you have time, you can go to the one near metro which is cheaper and on your way.
The only problem we found is that the house was a cold in April. It is not Roberta's fault, because the heating is managed by Commune, and the Commune stopped the heating in April. Also the climate in Rome is bit unreliable.
Anyways I have advised Roberta to get small portable electric heaters which I hope she will take care in upcoming days.
I would personally recommend Roberta's apartment and hope to come back and stay here again :)
Roberta house is lovely. Its comfortable and clean and has everything you need. The train station is very close and its very easy to navigate your way to all the major attractions in Rome. Roberta is an awesome host even though we only seen her to check in she had so much information for us and advice on what we should see and how to get there. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a quiet fully stocked base for exploring Rome.
