The Verde Room is one of three private guest rooms available at The Casa Blanca, which is a vibrant, well-maintained and non-smoking home. A sense of calm abounds in this peaceful space appointed with two twin-sized beds, ample wardrobe storage, a soft shag rug, large windows and wonderfully high ceilings. The Verde Room has temperature control devices (a ceiling fan, AC unit and electric heater) and a door lock for guests' comfort. (Bikes are available upon request)
In every corner of The Casa Blanca, guests are greeted by a delightful kaleidoscope of color, art and whimsy. Individuals, couples and groups (of 6 to 8 people) are invited to experience a festive and communal* space featuring: comfortable guest rooms, one full bathroom and one half bath, a spacious living room, full kitchen, dining nook and a rustic, outdoor patio. (*Excluding bedrooms, all areas of the property are shared among occupants.)
When you are not relaxing in your peaceful quarters or enjoying a proper New Orleans adventure, feel free to watch movies, play video games or chat with other guests in the shared lounging areas. The property’s bright and slightly tilted kitchen is fully equipped with the appliances and supplies needed to create or reheat a tasty meal, which can be enjoyed inside or on the secluded, backyard patio.
Close to Claiborne and Broad Streets, The Casa Blanca is located next door to The Monte Cristo in a revitalized community that hosts a second-line jazz parade nearly every Sunday afternoon. (See schedule below.)
To maintain a harmonious environment, we ask all parties to be mindful of others by keeping noise and personal items, particularly in shared areas, to a minimum. I don't reside at the residence but I do live next door. I'm available anytime for any information, help or advice needed also if you want to tag along on a random trip of mine.
Public bus transportation is within 3 blocks on the 16 bus ($1.25 or $3.00 for day pass). For faster travel, a car or bicycle is highly recommended. Driveway and street parking are plentiful. Several cafes, restaurants, drug stores, social venues and small parks are located within a 2-mile radius. My home is a short five-minute drive from bustling Magazine and Freret Streets—must-visit locales for unique New Orleans shops and fare. I'm a 7-10min drive from the French Quarter and Bourbon St ($10 cab ride +tip). The streetcar located on St. Charles is(1.3 miles away). Tulane, Loyola, Xavier, Audubon Park and Zoo, City Park, museums and many other notable attractions are only a 10- to 15-minute drive away.
Jay is a nice guy and very helpful - greeted us upon arrival, gave us a thorough tour of the house, answered all our questions, offered suggestions for places to see and eat, even called us to see if we wanted a ride one evening when he was going to town! (we didnʻt need it, already there as we stayed after our conference!) We didnʻt spend much time at the house, mostly just to sleep and it offered everything we needed - the a/c and fan in the bedroom made it a sanctuary from the heat!
Jay was our first host on Airbnb and he was great. He made sure we had all the information we needed to get around in New Orleans. The room is very spacious, the bathroom was nice as well.
We would stay there again!
Great spot, close to everything. Friendly and efficient check-in and check-out.
Jay (email hidden)! He was available, attentive and always willing to give suggestions on where to go and what to do. The neighborhood is safe and central. I would definitely recommend it to those that have a car. It is an easy 10-15 minutes to both Magazine St. and the French Quarter. It was about a $13 cab ride to Bourbon St. and back from Frenchmen St. The entry was very easy and having a key to your own room was great with sharing the room with other Airbnber's. Not that there were any issues but it was just a piece of mind.
The room is exactly how it is described. Jay turned the air on for us before we arrived (THANK YOU SO MUCH!). We are not used to the humidity so the AC was beyond amazing. The beds, like other reviewers have said are very squeaky but not a big deal when you just need to pass out anyway. :) The house is not air conditioned, only your room.
The kitchen was stocked, although we didn't use any of it. It would be helpful for longtime guests to have access to it.
The bathroom was exactly what you needed after a nice hot day. Water pressure was great.
All in all, thanks to Jay and the AC in the Verde Room, my sister and I had a great time in NOLA. We plan on going back in the near future. The room/house was a great and you really won't be disappointed with the quality of the room for the price.

I had a great time in New Orleans! The food was delicious and the people were wonderful. I have only Jay to thank for opening up his house to us, and making our stay in NOLA affordable. Jay (email hidden). Our room was ready for us when we arrived and the a/c was blowing cold!! Jay kept us informed about the up to date events of the city, checked in with us to make sure we were happy, and made sure we knew how to contact him if we ever needed anything. I loved living in the midst of New Orleans and her people. The neighborhood was quiet and there was plenty of parking. I felt safe in the house, slept well, and enjoyed the other guests, who were quiet, friendly, and respectful. Thank You Jay!!
The room and the house were perfectly adequate, though the beds creaked very loudly. The neighborhood was safe--I had all my possessions in the world in my car, parked it on the street for five nights, and had no problem. Overall, feel that I got my money's worth.
Jay (email hidden) and the casa Blanca (email hidden) to stay! Jay was so warm and welcoming and made us feel right at home for our New Orleans visit. Couldn't have asked (email hidden)!
Jay (email hidden)!
He invited me to the night tour of New Orleans, and it was awesome.
Besides, the room is of course so cozy.
Thank you very much for everything.
Jay was great. He provided a lot of info on what was happening in New Orleans that week. The house was lovely and very comfortable. Only 10 minutes from the french quarter.
