WANT TO KNOW MORE?
Please contact me with any questions - I will respond quickly. My goal is to make your stay in Paris as comfortable as possible.
Our guests have access to the full apartment. This is not a share. You will have your own keys and can come and go as you please.
Interaction with Guests
We have a local apartment manager who oversees the check-in and check-out process. The apartment belongs to my in-laws who live outside of Paris for most of the year, and I manage the apartment for them because they do not speak English. While I live in California, I will ensure that your stay is as comfortable as is possible.
When you make a reservation, I will send you our "Welcome Document" that includes lots of important details about the apartment and a guide with our picks for the best neighborhood restaurants and other points of interest.
Live like a real Parisian. The apartment is very central, between Place de la Bastille and Place de la République, near the Place Léon Blum.
Just 1 block away from the apartment, there are the small shops where we do our daily shopping (boulangerie, cheese shop, butcher, fruits/veggies, etc.), and there are two large supermarkets on the Place Léon Blum, two blocks away. There is a small supermarket just around the corner.
The 11th arrondissement is an ideal location to base yourself in Paris, especially if you like authentic, local cuisine. I lived in the neighborhood for more than 14 years, and my wife was born and raised there. The neighborhood is one of the few in Paris that still has many small bistros - some are really just holes in the wall, but that have been around for 100+ years and are well off the tourist track. I've included information about our favorites in the "Welcome Document" that I send to each of our guests once a booking is made.
The closest métro station is "St. Ambroise" (line 9) which is one block away. Very close to the beautiful Père Lachaise cemetery and a 10 minute walk from the Marais district (in one direction) and 5 minutes (in the other direction) from the Oberkampf area (with great bars, restaurants, and cafés).
For the comfort of future guests, we insist on a strict no smoking policy. Please do not smoke in the apartment, even out the windows or on the balcony. Please go out on the street to smoke.
Upon booking, we will request that you send us a photocopy of your passport or other government-issued photo identification. Please fax or email this to us prior to your arrival.
The apartment will be fully cleaned before your arrival and after your departure, but we ask that you ensure the apartment is tidy before you leave. Also, before leaving, please remove all bedding and place them, with your used towels and any other dirty laundry, in a pile in the kitchen.
Please notify us immediately if there are any problems with the apartment including plumbing, lighting, windows, leaks, etc. We will make every effort to ensure that repairs are carried out quickly and do not hamper your stay.
Please replace anything you use, such as kitchen items and cleaning products. Please replace anything you break. If, for some reason, you cannot replace something, please let us know so that we can replace it for the next guests and deduct the price from your security deposit.
We recommend strongly that you take your shoes off when inside the apartment -- this reduces noise substantially and is also much more hygienic (Paris streets are notoriously filthy!).
Check in time is after 2pm on the day of your arrival. Check out time is 11am on the day of your departure. We can sometime accommodate later check out or earlier check in, but please make an arrangement with us in advance so as not to inconvenience others.
Please note: The sofa in the living room / salon is a sofa bed, but we do NOT allow it to be opened and used as a bed. It is complicated to open and has a fragile structure. Please do not open it!
Please treat our apartment the way you would treat your own home.
My friend and I had a fabulous experience the week in June we stayed in this apartment. Lorin was incredibly helpful, prompt & attentive. For example, he gladly furnished a 2nd set of keys for us and was very accommodating. We loved that the apt. was so light & airy due to cross ventilation from the balconies on both sides. The washer & dryer were wonderful to have. We enjoyed fixing breakfast in the 'country' kitchen. The chiming bells of St. Ambroise Church were charming & the church is exquisite inside. The stop on the #9 Metro line was very close though a transfer was nearly always necessary for our destinations. To be able to sit on the balconies for morning coffee or a glass of wine was wonderful. The only misunderstanding we had from the listing description of 2-1/2 baths was that we found only one actual toilet/commode when we had expected two. Perhaps the bidet is being counted. There was lots of hot water & wonderful water pressure. I highly recommend this lodging!
Lorin's apartment is a true home away from home. It is an ideal location especially if you do not want to be in this main tourist area--since thus was our 6th visit to Paris, it was perfect. And with the Metro round the corner you could get anywhere in Paris.
The apartment is pretty much as described and perfect for our party of two mature couples. The kitchen is well stocked and with boulangerie, deli, supermarkets, charcuterie, round the corner, we had several meals at home. If you wanted to eat out, apart from the bistros that is recommended in the guide provided by Lorin, there is ample choice in all directions from the apartment.
Although the elevator was under repair when we were there, the stairs to the 4th floor were easy...Lorin had advised us in advance that the elevator was not working.
Although I gave not met Lorin personally, he was prompt and easy to deal with throughout the booking process. Thumbs Up from our group of four adults.
Firstly, Lorin emailed us comprehensive information about the apartment, and then he made sure we were met in a timely fashion. The listing accurately depicts a residence for several generations of a family, and the furnishings, fittings and decor reflect a reasonable passage of time, and broad intellectual interests and accomplishments with good taste and style. Our view is the neighbourhood really begins with the various artisan-based food shops at the junction of Bd Voltaire and Parmentier. The Metro may be understood quite quickly out of Saint Ambroise station.
Lorin's place is the perfect spot to come back to on a Paris visit. I met my parents and sister there and we felt right at home in the apartment with more than enough space for all of us and all the amenities we could need (dishwasher, washing machine, wifi, the works). We loved opening the windows to the light/air of the city in the mornings as we sipped our coffee and listened to the church bells. The neighborhood is also wonderful- a quick walk to so much but a rare quiet at night to get some solid sleep. We fell in love with the local coffee shops, bakeries, and cafes and enjoyed exploring a true Parisian neighborhood that wasn't overflowing with tourists like so many of them.
We had a wonderful week in Lorin's apartment. The apartment was very convenient to the Metro (think a block away!) and therefore all areas of Paris. It was large and comfortable with more than enough room for me and my 6 year old daughter, as well as my parents. The neighborhood was also very charming, and felt like a real community as opposed to an area catering to tourists. We would most certainly return! Thank you to Lorin and his family for sharing their family home with us!

Thank you for your nice feedback, Liliana. Yes, the apartment is classically furnished, but I think you would agree that the furniture is in impeccable condition. I've changed the wording of our listing to be a little more clear as to the bathrooms. (Two bathrooms without toilet and a separate toilet room/WC with a small sink.)
Very happy you had a comfortable stay.
