About This Listing
Rent the upstairs of my 1500 sq ft house. Two large rooms with lots of storage and a half bath are exclusively used by the renter. Shower, Kitchen, outdoor patio, and common living space is shared with the homeowner.
It's a 1500 sqft house plus a basement. The space for rent is the entire second floor of the house (600 sqft) that consists of 2 bedrooms with closets and a half bath. One room is furnished with a new queen bed, the other is setup as private living space with a desk, TV area, and a futon couch that can be used for an additional guest if need be. The upstairs is freshly painted and bright. Guests will share the shower, kitchen, and general living quarters with the home owner. The house is simply decorated, has lots of light, an open kitchen, and a large fenced yard with a fire pit, patio, and hammock (summer use). The house has laundry, cable, and high speed wireless internet. A window air conditioning unit can be put in if need be but we usually don't need it. There is a small workout space in the basement for your use.
Owner is a single, professional female (37) who works normal hours (7-6). I enjoy wine, being outdoors, and will have small dinner parties. Generally I'm quiet and respectful. The house is a work in progress, but I'm down to the small cosmetic projects and I keep the house clean and clutter free. I am fluent in Spanish.
There is a large dog in the house. He is a 5 year old boxer who is well behaved and in the downstairs during the day with a doggie door. He is very friendly, so you should enjoy dogs. He is gated out of the upstairs of the house.
House is located in SE Portland in the South Tabor neighborhood. It is a residential, signle family home setting in an up and coming neighborhood. Less than 5 minutes walk to 3 bus lines (Division, Powell, and 82nd) and less than a mile from Mt. Tabor park and 50/60th and Division restaurant/food district. The trip to downtown is easy and quick. A good solution for someone looking for a quiet neighborhood and lots of space within the city. There is also easy airport access and pick up can be arranged. The neighborhood is a quiet family neighborhood that's great for walking or jogging with several parks close by.
Upstairs, kitchen, shower, laundry, and outside areas.
Interaction with Guests
Some of my guests are now very good friends, some were renters. I am generally open to sharing space when I am home. Guests are welcome to join in if people come over or often if we go out.
It's very walkable and I love all my neighbors. It's quiet and safe.
3 bus lines and easy driving access to all freeways. Zip car and Car to Go are also available.
Other Things to Note
I prefer longer term renters and can negotiate rent after an initial AirBnB stay if things work out.
I take a shower between 6:30 and 7am on work days. The dog is here during the day. He can get into the yard but should not be let out of the house and yard. He is gated out of the upstairs rental area. Common areas should be kept clean and clutter free.
Allison's place in SE Portland is the perfect little home to enjoy your time visiting. With having 2 rooms to live in, you have more of an "apartment" feel to your stay which gives you SO much more room! The house is located in a perfect area, right down the street from countless trendy restaurants and shops- and just a 10-15 minute drive from downtown. Allison is super helpful in suggesting places to sight-see, eat and shop. Can't forget about how adorable Oscar is as well! Overall, 3 months at her place made Portland that much more of an amazing experience!
I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The space is spacious and clean. It is separated from the main level of the house so privacy is no issue. The bed is super comfy and I was provided clean towels every week. Allison was very welcoming and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay in Portland.
I absolutely loved staying here!! Adorable suburb neighborhood, just a quick walk/drive/bus ride to pretty much everything you could ever need. The space was very open with lots of natural light and plenty of storage. Allison was amazing; very thoughtful and flexible and kind, and always made sure I had everything I need. Without a doubt the best place to stay in Portland.
I think Caitlin pretty much covered it. Allison has been so easy to live with- she is very friendly and always considerate. I have loved having Oscar, her boxer, around. He's well-behaved and so cute! As for the house, Allison has decorated it very nicely, and the upstairs has plenty of room for the renter. As someone who has just moved to Portland from out of town (and has a lot of junk), the extra room with its desk, bookshelves, and extra closet has been very useful. The house has a good sized backyard with patio, and is a short walk to two main bus lines, with buses running frequently downtown. Another plus for me is the proximity to Mt. Tabor Park, a scenic park only about a 10 min walk away. My experience with Allison has been great, and I'd highly recommend her place to anyone.
Staying with Allison (and Oscar) has been better than I could have imagined. Allison is friendly, generous, and knowledgeable. As a life long Portlander, she is knows all about the city. She is especially helpful when it comes to local food and wine options and nearby outdoors activities.
The house is light and lovely. The private space (the whole upstairs of the house!) is very spacious. There is a master-sized bedroom with a great closet and 2 large dressers. The bed is queen-sized and sooooo comfortable. The second bedroom (with another closet) is set up as a living space. There is a nice TV and an armchair and couch. I loved having this bonus space. It really felt like I had my own apartment. There’s also a half bath upstairs. I didn’t think too much about it when I decided to stay there, but it’s been a huge bonus. It has meant zero conflict over the bathroom.
There is, of course, a bathroom downstairs with the shower. It is quite luxurious and has great water pressure. Like I said, it was no problem sharing the space. It’s the same with the kitchen. The kitchen was a nice size and was outfitted with all the utensils I needed. There was also plenty of space to store food. There’s a great backyard. I didn’t get a chance to use it too much in the early-June gloom but it’s the perfect place to have a beer in the summer.
Allison has a very sweet young boxer named Oscar. He is friendly and energetic but very well behaved. Allison has him very well trained. It was nice to live with a loving dog… and his wonderful owner.
In case it isn't clear already, I would highly recommend staying with Allison. I can't wait to come back and visit.
