CANGGU DAY SPA (if not sure about anything ask the girls at Canggu day SPA)
Iluh, Komang, Putu are the girls working there. Open 9-8
Jalan Raya Batu Bolong, Canggu ,
Hail only Blue Bird – ALWAYS ask for meter to be on. Minimum is 25,000rp.($2.50). Tipping is good – (phone number hidden)rp (50c to $1). Late at night sometimes they won’t put meter on – bargain to NO more than 150,000rp ($15) to Canggu from Seminyak.
Bluebird (phone number hidden) Canggu taxi (phone number hidden)
On the plane the immigration card will ask your address (do not use for postal) – 8B x Jalan Batu Bolong, Canggu
When you arrive in Bali - it's hot and humid - make sure you have layers of clothes so you can get off the plane with summer clothes on.
Follow the crowd - if you have your visa already - go to right and straight to immigration. If you don't have visa - then go to visa section and pay cash US$35 for a month visa. They will give you change in rupiah if you have another currency.
Then luggage – IF you get a porter to assist you and you will go through X-ray and human and then porter will dump you near moneychangers booths (don't change money there). Give him (maybe 2 men) two $2 coins. That is enough in Bali and they will ask for more money and can be quite assertive - but you say "No more" and keep walking with your trolley!! As you come out into open-air turn to the LEFT.
If all else fails here are some phone numbers to call. Ask anyone to use their phone and give them $1.

It is around 15km from airport but it might take 1-2 hours depending on traffic.
MONEY – Exchange rate in your country is usually not good – better to exchange in Bali. Travellers cheques no good in Bali. Bring cash and/or debit card (for cash withdrawal) and/or a credit card (limited places take it). Ask driver that he stop at a honest money exchange on the way to Canggu.
Money exchange can drive you nuts but at the moment the dollar is easy for the rupiah -- just take off 4 0's and its nearly right!
So 5,000 rupiah is 50cents; 100,000rp is $10;
So when someone asks you for a million rupiah - don't freak - It's $100 !
To put money in perspective -- most worker Balinese (like staff at Accommodation or the folks working on the building sites) earn about $6 a day. So when you give a tip to a waitress/staff person of 10,000rp ($1) he/she is happy. $2 (20,000rp) and he/she is very happy!
A car and driver is $45-$60 a day (8 hours) depending on where you go. $3-5 tip per trip is good.
Taxi from villa to Seminyak for food or clothes shopping - not cheap but good quality (cheap and not good quality is Legian and Kuta) is around $7-10 a trip.
Actually if going for a serious shop get a driver/taxi to take you so he can pick you up and drop off etc - even if short distance gets hot and tiring
At Canggustay - excellent! fibre optic
Internet in Bali - make sure your computer/phone has wireless and then you can go to cafes and restaurants – Internet speed in Bali is slow... otherwise buy a local SIM in Bali and put in phone.
You can walk around Canggu but better do it early morning or evening for cool and traffic.
If you are interested in cooking - walk up to small market (Canggu Pasar)- about 300 m from rooms at about 6-630am or earlier. If really interested in markets - hire Pak Komang to take you to Budung Market in Denpasar - early (4 or 5. - over by 6am -- and yes as a westerner they will charge you more than local but hey it is still Very cheap...likely to be the only westerner there...
Just to warn you - Bali is NOT like any other country. It has huge garbage problems, huge traffic problems and is hot! On the other hand is it is visually magnificent and the people are deeply spiritual (Hindu) and very sweet. Tourism is doing good and damage to Bali...
Please be very careful swimming in the sea. However if you are want to have a swim and lie around -- go to HOTEL TUGU (at the end of our road) where you are welcome to use their pool and change rooms as long as you have a drink (water, coffee or stronger). It’s a magnificent hotel and has a museum. Also there is a public large swimming pool just 200m up the road - Segara Madu

when you leave the country they take a 200,000rp tax (only in ruplah) so leave enough money to pay the tax at the airport :)
Super cute rooms, nice and quiet. Wifi is the best I've had in all of Bali! Shirley is quick to respond and always friendly. Would be great spot for an extended stay in Canggu!
Very clean, colorful place. I stay two more days there. The location is great, close to the beach. Shirley and the spa ladies are so kind make me feel warm. Will definitely go back to canggu stay!
I stayed at Canggu stay for 6 nights and absolutely loved it.
From the moment I arrived the girls in the day spa and Shirley couldn't have made me feel more welcome and at home.
The rooms were clean and serviced daily.
Everything that you need is there, wifi works fantastic and mosquito nets where installed while I was there.
I would definitely recommend this stay to everyone, it is well priced, you have your own privacy with the choice of socialising with other guests, and it is central to all restaurants, bars and beaches.
Also being a solo traveller Shirley invited me to spend Christmas Day with a few locals at the water splash park which was a great day.
Thank you Shirley and girls for your kindness And hospitality.
Shirley is a great host!
I spent wonderful 3 weeks at canggu stay and really enjoy it!
I've got everything I need. The rooms are nice and clean. Girls from dayspa are very friendly.
Shirley helped me with everything! She is so kind and attentive.
If you need motorbike, taxi or wanna find good places in canggu - Shirley kindly advises!
I definitely will return to bali, and definitely be back to canggu stay :)
I spent 4 weeks at the Canggu Stay and I enjoyed it pretty much.
It´s like a hostel, but a bit more private. You can get in contact with the other people staying at the place if you wish.
The place itself is save and clean. The ladys at the Spa can help you to get a driver or a scooter.
Canggu is a really good place to stay if Kuta is to hectic for you. There is lots of stuff to do and there are many young people around.
Canggu Stay was a pleasant surprise for the price of the room. Even though she was not on site, Shirley did everything she could to make me feel welcome & comfortable. Her spa staff who caretake the rooms which are situated behind the spa were also as friendly & helpful. The easiest checking/ out & the room modern & spotlessly clean, free fresh wTer refills so you do not need to go out & buy bottles of water. There are several good eateries within 10 minutes walking distance & the beach is about 15 minutes on foot. If you are on a budget in Canggu, I would highly recommend.
Shirley is such a beautiful, friendly and generous soul! Excellent communication and help with Infos etc! I was unable to attend the full length of my booking due to personal reasons..Shirley was super helpful and open to find options! can't wait to come to canggu again soon! Blessings

I love Bali. Love to travel and thoroughly enjoy the abundance of Bali - the delightful people, food, plants, sunshine...Come and enjoy this wonderful island and stay.
"my story - I'm 60....I've been travelling overseas since I was 19... actually we travelled as a family since I was 6 years old. Kruger National Park each year, Mozambique each year around July, and then the sea - like Plettenberg Bay in summer time. Us "kids" all have it in our blood... I love the intertwinings, stories, colours and happy heart I get when travelling. Travelled to more than 30 plus countries and lived in 6 countries. And recently calculated 12 homes in last 12 years :) So at heart - a nomad.
Share my time between Victoria Australia and Bali :)
Travelled to Bali in 1975, and 1979 and now happily call it home. I really like and appreciate AirBNB - as a host and traveller (thanks guys!) - so easy and pleasant :)"
