The room was incredible. So spacious, clean, and the views were just amazing. We only stayed here one night but wish we could have stayed longer.

Good points: • Location in Queenstown: Easy to get to and find • Spectacular view of lake and mountains • Very comfortable bed in large room • Likeable host Meh points: • Did not compare well with other AirBnb places we stayed in New Zealand, especially given the price, which was quite a bit more than we paid for similar or better accommodations • Breakfast was included and the coffee was fine, but the available cereal was too sugary and there was only enough milk for coffee with almond milk left over for cereal. We consider our experience here as a very expensive average: No really outstanding features and no significant complaints either. That said, we felt that we were unjustly criticized, along with all other Americans, by our host’s unsolicited commentary on our government, health care, the size of our suitcases, and American politics. We found this commentary inappropriate, off-putting and unfair. We were needlessly put on the defensive and would ask the host to consider how similar commentary would be experienced by New Zealand visitors in another country.

Response from Philip:
nice people but seemed to enjoy complaining about everything which is unnecessary when staying at someones home

The room at Philips was very nice! The bed was super comfy and gave us two great nights of sleep! The only thing was that there were no screens on the window so leaving them open at night meant lots of bugs in the room. Philip also was recovering from a surgery so he was there at the house most of the time, which was fine since we were gone. He is a tour guide, but I felt like he was a bit negative to us about what we were doing there. So I would just take things with a grain of salt maybe? Overall a good visit, but felt a little pricey for what we had been getting.

Philip is a wonderful host, and his place (large bedroom) is amazing!!! The view takes your breath away. The room is huge, bed extremely comfortable, decor lovely, and the hot tub outdoors perfect after a long day. The whole house is so clean -- lots of towels too. Philip gave great advice on local spots as well as drives and hikes. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
