The Space

Bookings - Late September 2014 onwards

We are expecting a baby in October so will not take bookings for a few months. However, if in 2015 you would like to stay at all, do get in touch with us, even if the room says it's booked out. We will be happy to negotiate on price, if you are still keen to stay bearing in mind the small (and potentially noisy) new member of the household!

We live in a 3 storey, 3 bedroom house on a quiet residential street and have a recently furbished loft conversion to offer visitors to Wimbledon and London!

The room is large, taking up the entire top floor, with modern features and an en suite bathroom, which has a bath with a ceiling mounted rain shower head, a sink and a toilet. The bedroom has a standard double bed with heated blanked for the winter months, as well as two bedside tables and a chest of drawers available for your use. There is also an adjustable height clothes hanging rail. We will provide you with 1 large towel per guest and the hand and bath mat towels for the bathroom.

You will have a kettle in your room, with tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided should you fancy a cuppa in bed! There is a picture of these supplies in the picture section so you can see what you will have.

There is a TV in the room. We have plenty of DVDs you are welcome to borrow and have left a selection in the room to start you off.
There is an iPhone charging dock in your room - though it charges rather slowly!

Additional guests:

There is one double bed for 2. We have a double air bed we could put up to the side of the bed if you need space for another 1 or 2 people. For each extra person (up to 2 further guests) the cost will be £15 per night. (I'm afraid the air bed is only an option between the months of April - September as we do not have a spare winter duvet!)

Kitchen:

You would be sharing the kitchen and sitting room with us and whilst we can't offer to make you breakfast due to work commitments, we stock the fridge and cupboards with continental breakfast supplies (this will include natural yoghurt, cereals, toast (or croissants) with jams as well as a fruit juice and tea/coffee) and show you where everything is so that you can help yourselves.
You are more than welcome to use the kitchen to make your own food at other times, we just ask that you clear up after yourselves. There will always be a good supply of tea which you are welcome to enjoy!

We have a bread maker and often put on a loaf to be ready and smelling amazing for when we wake up in the morning. If you like the sound of this please do let us know and we will pop on a loaf.

Garden:

Of most interest during the summer months - we have four wooden chairs and a table outside on our decking which you may enjoy using. We recommend making the most of the early evening summer sun there with a glass of rosé in hand :-)

Other general facilities:

Sky TV (in the living room), Wi-Fi, iron and ironing board, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, small garden and electric piano.

Parking:

If you will have a car with you and would like to park it on the street, we would ask that you give us at least 14 days' notice so that we can arrange a permit for you. Parking is unrestricted at the weekends but you need a daily permit for weekdays. We would ask you to cover the cost of this in cash on your arrival.

Location:

While we hope you will be attracted to our modern and spacious accommodation, it is often nice to know a little about the area in which you will be staying. Raynes Park is a growing but peaceful community in South West London. It is well-connected to the rest of London by major rail and transport links. It has a mix of big-name brands like Starbucks, Costa and Waitrose trading alongside some lovely independent shops, bakeries and restaurants.

The real selling point is its location. Raynes Park is only 20 minutes by overground train to London Waterloo, giving you easy access to all the great things Central London has to offer! We often walk to Wimbledon Village (to take advantage of the many excellent pubs on or near the Common) or to the town centre (retail therapy, cinemas etc), which takes 25 minutes, or 5-10 on a train or bus. We are also within reach of other great South West London spots such as Kew Gardens, the Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Palace. If you like walking, Wimbledon Common is 15 mins walk and Richmond Park is 1/2 hour/40 mins walk away or 20 mins bus ride. We are happy to advise you of other things to do and places to visit!

We absolutely love it here and we're sure you will too!

20 minutes overground train to Waterloo (runs every 3-5 minutes)

57 or 131 bus from the end of our road: 10 minutes into Wimbledon Town Centre

57 bus from outside the train station: 20 minutes into Kingston

200 bus from outside the train station takes you up to Wimbledon Village in 10 minutes.

  • First Rate household and reasonably priced. Sophie and Chris are a great young couple who had a spare room minutes from the train or walking distance to Wimbledon. These two opened their home and family to us. During our stay, it was Sophie's birthday and her parents were visiting. Their family welcomed us as if we were just family visiting too.
Their room for guests is warm private and is an able body climb to get to. However they open their home while you are staying. The kitchen is great and there is also a lovely patio out back to enjoy your breakfast in the morning. We enjoyed the neighborhood feel to Raynes Park. There are several pubs, take-out options including great Indian food, banks, pharmacy and anything you could need for a vacation within walking distance. The location is perfect for visiting Hampton Court as well as a short ride into London's many attractions. Walk to the train station in 7 minutes and it books national rail tickets too.
The train station booking agent was very helpful and we purchased our tickets to Wales there. Also the local buses were super. We took the local train 2 stops to Southfields and were able to queue up for The Championships before 6:30 am easily. Bring a picnic lunch and a blanket to sit on as the queue is like a big fun picnic on beautiful cricket fields. We entered the tournament grounds 10 minutes before play started and found front row seats on the outer courts. Tennis heaven.

  • The Stay with Sophie and Chris was great. The combination of the suburban location combined with the short commute (20 min to Waterloo station) was superb. The room and house was clean and tidy and Sophie and Chris were a combination of thoughtful, nice and casual that really meant a different to our stay in London.
