Maybe the coolest backhouse in the universe. Either that, or the coolest backhouse behind my house. Feels like your own treehouse. You will dig, promise. Over 900 feet of comfy contemporary in Lakewood, listed by Dallas Morning News as the #1 neighborhood in Dallas for... ahem... wealthy people. (They haven't asked for my W-2... yet. So stay with me before I get kicked out for not being wealthy enough!) AWESOME location: two blocks from White Rock Lake, the gem of Dallas. It's a mecca for runners, cyclists, walkers, nappers, W-2 checkers ("Ummm... we're going to have to ask you to leave..."), whatever. And just a short drive to newly-artsy downtown Dallas.
The apartment has great new non-discount store furniture, a REALLY comfortable queen size Beautyrest mattress and Calvin Klein bedding (because you have to have Calvin Klein bedding in order to live in Lakewood - they do weekly checks), 47" flat panel HD TV, DirecTV DVR and Blu-ray player and subwoofer, high-speed wireless, quiet central air conditioning, washer and dryer, iron and ironing board for you to press my shirts if you don't have anything to do, fully stocked kitchen, cool artwork, AND a garage with opener for your car and bike, or else for housing that red fox you caught at the lake. I've got you covered when it comes to amenities, including a white noise sleep enhancer and a dock for your iPhone. The street and neighbors are quiet, so sleep 'til noon if you want. If you rent long-term, Claudia, the world's greatest housekeeper, comes through every two weeks to keep things spiffy. Five minutes east of SMU and downtown Dallas, just a few miles from the restaurants and clubs of Lower Greenville and Deep Ellum, ten minutes to Uptown, about a ten minute walk to the bus line and some tasty Lakewood restaurants. Less than a mile to uber-groovy Whole Foods, and for your coffee fix there's a Starbucks a bit further. For a Starbucks that's not a Starbucks, check out Mudsmith on Greenville. You hipster...
Everyone who has stayed here has loved it, and you will too. Promise.
Hey, this place is REALLY nice, and I hope you're respectful of my stuff. Ya know how people always thrash rental cars because they don't belong to them? Don't do that to my gear - PLEASE! I want you to be comfortable and enjoy your stay, but I don't want to have to buy new carpeting because you decided to house train a couple of puppies. And ladies, if you're bleaching your hair in my bathroom to achieve some sexy Extreme Makeover look, use the white towels for that project. I'll hafta charge your credit card $5,000 each for any bleach-spotted colored towels. Oh, and smokers will be assaulted with a fire extinguisher and set out on the curb for recycling.
Other than that, enjoy your seriously cool stay!!
David was very welcoming and accommodating! We felt at home and his apartment was tastefully decorated and comfortable, we felt we were at home with all the comforts. Apartment was spotless, modern, well built and designed. Loved this neighborhood, felt safe and close to restaurants and White Rock Lake.
David is an excellent host. He made us feel most welcome and made sure we had everything we needed. The unit is spacious, well equipped and nicely furnished...just like the description. It's in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood. We plan to stay here again!
This was a perfect home for us for six weeks while working in Dallas. The layout is fantastic for two people, plenty of room, great closet space and a wonderful kitchen. It's a short walk to the lake, which is beautiful. David is a fantastic host, extremely considerate, helpful and thoughtful. Without question, we'd recommend him and Way Cool to anyone staying in Dallas--for one night or longer.
David's place was exceptional on many levels: safe, upscale neighborhood; private garage; spacious, spotlessly clean apartment; like-new furniture (with comfortable mattress) and linens; the latest appliances (including great washer/dryer). Most importantly (for me), it was peaceful and quiet; I am somewhat noise-sensitive, and was rarely disturbed during my 5-week stay (while I looked for a place of my own in Dallas). David was very accommodating, even helping me move boxes from my car (though I do not mean to sign him up for more moving work!). I did not take advantage of the proximity to White Rock Lake, but the area worked well for me, being only 15-20 minutes from downtown, and just a few minutes' drive from Whole Foods, Fresh Market, gyms, and anything else you could want. I would highly recommend David's place to anyone (though a car is definitely necessary here - as in almost all of DFW).
You couldn't ask for a better host than David, or a better living space in Dallas. My wife and I stayed for 6 weeks and loved this location, in a quiet neighborhood filled with mansions, within walking distance to White Rock Lake and its great biking/jogging trails. Upon arrival, David took time to personally welcome us and even left us some breakfast treats in the fridge. His spacious, private and comfortable 1-bedroom was inviting, cozy and cheery with lots of sunlight. Flat-screen TV came with its own Blu-ray player, sound bar and HD DVR, including HBO and other movie channels, meaning hours of entertainment at our fingertips. We had great nights of sleep in the comfortable queen bed, accompanied by his handy white noise sleep enhancer. Private garage for our car and private back entrance. David was extremely flexible and accommodating! The next time we come to Dallas, we look forward to staying with David again!
I would rate this place 4.5 stars if I could. David was a pleasure to deal with, always there to help, the apartment is absolutely immaculate/new-looking (better than in the pictures), clean, organized, and high-quality. The only downsides for me was the couch and TV chair were not particularly soft, and the desk had a regular dinner chair rather than a swivel/recline office chair. I'm going to miss having basically every movie channel on DirecTV. Highly recommended overall.
David was a fabulous host. The apartment was clean, the latest in
design, peaceful and quiet. I would gladly stay again if I have more
visits to Dallas.

Need a new house? I'll build you one! I'm a custom homebuilder. Or just stay at my place and save your money for more meaningful stuff, like traveling!! I spend Monday through Friday dealing with cranky rich people, so my weekends are dedicated to forgetting about cranky rich people. You'll generally find me on my bicycle, swimming, running, or figuring out some way to beat up my body at the gym - I'm a triathlete, something I love. I also love rock concerts and music in general, mountains, forests, lakes, Portland, t-shirts, other people's dogs, and dumpy restaurants with great food. Don't have time for vacations, so you can tell me how awesome they are and make me cry. Social guy here, which probably explains me going to five universities before FINALLY graduating. (Wouldn't trade those days for anything.) So, yeah, I like people. Unless I'm building your house and you call me on the weekend - then I don't like you. But I'll definitely like YOU if you stay at my super-cool place.
