Interaction with Guests
A friendly Balinese gardener, Pak Made, comes from 9am to 12pm three times a week (M, W, F) and will take care of anything you need. He speaks basic English. He will replace water gallons and bring coconuts upon request for a small additional fee. Also, he can take your clothes to the laundry and bring them back within a couple of days. Sheets and towels are changed by Pak Made upon request.
The house is cleaned by Wayan at 10am on Thursdays and Sundays.
The neighborhood, Penestanan, is now full of charming restaurants and cafés within walking distance from the house. A delicious bakery, a juice bar, raw-vegan restaurant, a spa next door... Eve Spa is a great option for a treatment and is literally next door. A nice yoga studio and meditation center are also really close, so you don't even have to get on your motorbike.
You can rent a scooter within walking distance for $5 per day. If you prefer a driver, call Mus (my favorite driver) to take you around town (about $5 per ride). Or, you can walk about 20 minutes, to all things Ubud.
Other Things to Note
If you let us know in advance, we will happily arrange an airport pick-up or drop-off. You'll pay the driver directly.
No smoking allowed.
No pets allowed.
Please switch the aircon & lights off when leaving the house.
The big plus points of this apartment are its size (big!), the wonderful bed room with light coming from three sides, and the location: a relatively quiet street, yet with many nice places to eat close by, and within walking distance from the busy centre of Ubud.
Daniela was a very good host. She was not present when we arrived but she had arranged for everything to make things go smoothly, so that was no problem at all. Communication with her during our 10-day stay went exclusively via the Airbnb website. She got back to us frequently, and provided immediate support when we had questions or requests.
The apartment in itself is not very luxurious. It is very suited for those who do not have this as their highest priority, but less suited for travellers who value comfort (eg. bathing facilities, quality of the bed) a bit more.
All in all we think this is a very nice place to stay, with good value for money, and a trustworthy hostess.
Daniela was very efficient in replying to my email queries and kind enough to help arrange a taxi transfer to her house. Suggestions about the many eateries around her place was excellent. Photos accurately represented her home.
We loved Daniela's apartment. Walking distance from central Ubud, but tucked away among the trees and winding roads of the Penestanan neighborhood, with lots of good food & drink just outside your doorstep. The apartment itself is spacious and well-appointed, with some beautiful installation art. Daniela was very attentive in helping us arrange drivers, recommend restaurants, and more. Thanks so much Daniela! We would stay again in a heartbeat. Best--Sarah & Ben
Daniela's place is a hidden gem in Ubud! We absolutely LOVED everything about it! She was a lovely host and went out of her way to make us comfortable. She helped arrange airport pick up for us, gave us lots of useful information on where to eat, things to do and even introduced us to her friend in ubud. Daniels's recommendations were very authentic and not something you would find on lonely planet or trip advisor. There was someone who came in to clean her place almost everyday and they were really really sweet. The place is massive! I don't think photos do it justice but her place looks exactly like the photos. Very comfortable place which felt just like home. Exactly what we were looking for in Ubud. We would definitely return and highly highly recommend this place. No complaints whatsoever. Fully equipped kitchen, lovely indoor and outdoor hot shower, spacious bathroom, a really really comfortable bed, big windows which let a lot of morning sunlight and a huge lounge area. Quiet, peaceful yet only a few steps away from great cafés and restaurants. Thanks so much Daniela for making our stay so perfect!
Four years ago, I left New York City and made it to Bali for the first time. Never left, absolutely loved it here. Today, I split my time between Bali and Mexico City. I run an interactive design studio and produce two events in Bali once a year.
Traveling to Bali for the first time is always enchanting and I do hope you enjoy your stay, it is a magical place and somehow special things always happen.
