About this listing
The Moroccan is a gorgeous Villa with amazing views of sea and coastline. It has a very eclectic Moroccan feel to it with original art pieces and colorful. It comfortably fits 4 people, with bedroom/bath suite upstairs, and another downstairs.
Below is some more information on my property and please take a look at my web page to see more pictures of the views, gardens, pool and inside the bungalows. The property is 2 1/2 acres of gardens, and views of the world.
It is a short 3 minute walk to the beach thru Villa Amor's stairs and than another few minutes into the center of town along the beach road....you can also go along the other road and it is a 6 to 8 minute walk along the road into town, if you don't want to use the stairs. Villa amor closes its gates at around 9 pm but we have the code for the lock and you can access at night as well, so it is a short walk to the beach and town. However, if you do not like to exercise or there is some reason you cannot walk stairs than I suggest that you rent a golf cart or Car.
Moroccan Bungalow is perfect for two couples. It is a very comfortable and spacious bungalow with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The upstairs bedroom has a Queen size bed, with a very large bathroom with double sinks, large bathtub, double shower heads and incredible views of the ocean while you are showering. Also upstairs is the kitchen, dining room, large built in couch and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the sea. Wrapped around the front of the bungalow is also an large deck where you can sit and relax. There is a satellite T.V. and DVD player upstairs as well. As you can see from photos of the bungalows,
The Moroccan downstairs bedroom and the bath suite is completed separate from the upstairs area...there is a King size bed in this bedroom with an adjoining bathroom with shower. We have just recently just totally remodeled the bottom bedroom of the Moroccan, and it is now like a bungalow verses just a bedroom.
There is now a whole new terrace with a large built in couch, and table and chairs. The bathroom was totally redone with all new tile and it has a amazing ocean view. The King size bed has a large mosquito net over it as well. It is nice as now the you can spend time down stairs on the terrace verses being in the upstairs of the Moroccan, and have your own private area. The downstairs suite is also Air conditioned. The King size bed can be divided into two twin beds as well.
We have a lovely pool as well, with a Bali Bungalow on the grass platform, where you can sit and relax. I have just put in new built in couches, wifi internet and connections to plug in your ipod, computer, etc. It is great place to lay down and read a book or to work on your computer. check out more pictures on (website hidden) for casa kukana
There are also lawn chairs and umbrellas on the grass platform, next to the pool to relax on and look at the sea and the town of Sayulita...we also have a barbeque that is next to the pool for those nights you might want to have a barbeque outside and enjoy the pool and the warm nights.
It is a five to eight minute walk to town and the local beaches...and if you want privacy you can walk back towards the jungle from my place to Playa de los Muerto's a great beach for swimming, or a 10 minute walk to Carricitos which is a totally incredible place to spend the day....big pools in the rocks to swim in and if you want to sun bathe it is a totally hidden and secluded beach. It is the beach that we always swim at, and we have lived here for a long time....If you do not like to walk or exercise I suggest that you rent a car or a golf cart. My new golf cart is perfect for 4 people...
If you are into surfing Sayulita is great for beginners and intermediate... but there are lots of great surf spots near by that we can arrange for you to go for all levels of surfing. There are great Jungle walks and you can go on and you can rent bikes as well. There are also an arrange of jungle tours for those adventurers.
Sayulita now has many more new restaurants to choose from, your local little taco stands to Argentinian food, Chinese food, Italian food, Indian, sushi bar, Vegetarian restaurant and Don Pedro's which is a five star restaurant for that night when you want to take your partner out to eat something special...it is a very beautiful restaurant on the ocean under a large palapa and very romantic. You can see our "Buddha Spa" which is located at the back of our Buddha Gallery overlooking the sea as well. You can view both of our businesses on (website hidden), under "Zen Garden Restaurant and Bar" and "Buddha Gallery and Spa". You can also see more pictures of Casa Kukana on (website hidden)

My guests have access to the pool, gardens, and there is also a barbecue for their use. I also own the Buddha Spa and offer my guests at Casa Kukana a 10% discount on any services.
Interaction with Guests
I always meet my guests when they arrive and establish a relationship so they can ask me any questions they might have about Sayulita and the activities that are available to them.
I live on the property on the top platform so am available if needed. Also my house manager lives at the bottom of the property and is always onsite daily and can help with anything.
My neighborhood is which is on the southside of town is great as you get the sunrise and moon rise, with amazing views of the ocean and coast line. We are a also in a part of town where the properties are large, not close to each other, lots of privacy. It is also just a 5 minute walk to the beach and town. The south side also does not get the hot afternoon sun like the North end. The gardens at Casa Kukana are like a botanical garden with lush green grass and flowers everywhere!
If you don't like to walk you can rent a ATV or golf cart to get around. There is a good bus service to Puerto Vallarta if you wanted to go there for the day. Most of my guests just walk everywhere as nothing is far away.
I have a large parking area below for your car of golf cart.
I always recommend that I arrange for a taxi to pick up my guests from the airport as it makes your arrival stress free. They will stop at Mega on the way back to Sayulita so you can get all your supplies for your stay at Casa Kukana. They than bring you directly here and help you with your luggage and groceries.
Otherwise you can also take a bus from the airport, which is about $50 pesos and you are dropped off at the bus stop here in Sayulita and than you can take a taxi up to Casa Kukana.
Other Things to Note
Sayulita is a wonderful Bohemian town right on the sea with so many great things to do, surfing, SUP, jungle bike rides, ATV jungle tours, many Yoga instructors and classes, great restaurants and fun bars at night. Something for everyone!!
There is no smoking in the bungalows, but there is a large terrace on the Moroccan so you can smoke outside or in the yard.
I would allow a small dog that was well behaved.
The only house rules I have is to be respectful of my property and treat it as your home away from home.
Our stay was great at Casa Kukana. The house was well presented, very clean and neat, and fully equipped with everything we needed. The lawn and pool was perfect for us, and the garden with the beautiful plants and flowers were a real oasis. We have a 4 year old and 2 year old so having that outdoor space was ideal. Any problems we had they solved very quickly and I always found Suzanne really quick to respond to anything we needed. There are a husband and wife team who live in a house on the total property that clean everyday and provide any support you need. They were very helpful and friendly. The views are amazing of the town, beach and ocean, and sitting on the balcony is gorgeous. We hired a golf cart during our stay to get us up and down the hill, for $US35 a day. If you are lazy like us, would definitely recommend it, otherwise to walk into town/beach each day would take some time. I didn't realise that the bedrooms are on different floors, and only accessible from outside, which would be no problem for most people, but maybe if you have troublesome little sleepers like we do it might be a problem! We ended up only using the one bedroom and all sleeping there, which was fine because it was a big bedroom anyway. It was very quiet (apart from the noise we made :/) and we felt we had the whole place to ourselves.
Hi Haidee: Thank you for your lovely review of my house. I am glad that you had a good time and I know the boys loved the huge yard and pool. I am surprised that you were able to rent a golf cart so inexpensive...wow that is worth it for $35 per day. I think it is a good idea to have one especially when you have little ones as that is a big climb for them after they have been at the beach all day.
Thanks for coming and hope to see you one day again in Sayulita, although it is a long ways away from your home in Sydney.
Incredible place to stay!
The scenery is spectacular with magnificent views of the ocean below. The property is so beautiful and well maintained, it feels like a bit of paradise above the town. The accomodations are very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Suzanne helped us navigate a smooth arrival and welcomed us to make sure everything was ok. Not only would I recommend it, I hope to return again. Thank you Suzanne for a wonderful place to stay!
Amazing location with the best view of Sayulita. Nicely equipped with all the amenities. I would highly recommend
We enjoyed Casa Kukana very much! The place is absolutely beautiful and there is no way pictures can do it justice. The grounds are so relaxing and beautiful. The gardener works very hard on it and it shows. Santiago and his wife cleaned our place everyday and did an excellent job. The walk from the beach is very nice after sitting on the beach for so long. Since you walk up the stairs, the views from the porch are outstanding! Drinking coffee and watching the beautiful sunrise was my favorite. The only negative we have is that there was no hot water in the basement bathroom but the upstairs worked just fine. We would recommend Casa Kukana to anyone and everyone we know!!!! Thanks Suzanne and crew!
This was a very nice place. Very clean, and well kept. The decor was great, the view amazing. The air conditioning worked very well in the two bedrooms. Internet worked well. Everything worked well, actually. The onsite staff were friendly and did a beautiful job. Suzanne was responsive and communicative. She let us know what to expect, and arranged the very nice taxi to and from the airport.
My 15 year old daughter stayed in the downstairs room - it was perfect! Like a dream apartment. Close to her mom and dad, but far enough for her to feel she had her own space.
The garden was one of the most beautiful I have been in, and the gardener talked with us about it most mornings. He is a true landscape artist.
It was unseasonably hot while we were there, so the main un-air-conditioned living room was too warm to hang out in. But it was nice in every other way, and I would stay there again - just not in the hot season. We did not mind the many steps to the beach, we are fit and loved the landscaping; it was magical to walk back and forth to the sea. And at the top there was a clean and inviting pool to cool off in. But you should be ready for a fairly steep climb to and from the beach.
The town and main beach are very close once down the steps, and the less busy (and fewer vendors) Playa de los Muetros is also close by. I wouldn't want to stay any closer to the main part of town - it was very busy even in the off season. The busy town was fun though: great food, shopping, entertainment and surfing!
We had a lovely visit at Casa Kukana! The ground, views, and accommodations were spectacular. I wish we could have stayed longer to savor the experience. Suzanne was a helpful and gracious host.
Casa Kukana was a beautiful home. Sayulita had everything we needed. Lots to do or nothing if we wanted. Suazanne was an attentive host with a breath taking home and view. We hope to return again!

About the Host, Suzanne
I have the most amazing piece of property here in Sayulita...2 1/2 acres of gardens, lush grass and a infinity pool with views of the ocean and coastline. You will love it. I bought this property 28 years ago when Sayulita was just a little fishing village and it has now turned into the most amazing town with great restaurants, shops and many things to do, surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, horseback riding, zip lining, and many more adventure. Perfect place for families, adventurous and active people who love the outdoors.
