The Space

Studio apartment. One large room with queen sized bed and full sized futon (linens included). Full, private bath. Kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. Also included with the room: TV, stereo/CD player, wi-fi. Beautiful shared court yard. Within a 5 to 10 minute walk are City Park, New Orleans Street Car, Bayou St. John, The Pitot House (18th century Creole colonial plantation home) and The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA). Also within a 5 to 10 minute walk is Swirl a wonderful wine store/bar, two wonderful restaurants [Cafe Degas and Lola's], three good restaurants [Nona Mia, Liuzza's and Santa Fe], two fun and very good coffee houses [Fair Grinds and CC's], several traditional bars including Pals and Liuzza's By The Track, as well as two family owned grocery stores and a laundromat.

Getting around New Orleans by streetcar is a great way to see the city. There are three different lines: St. Charles, Canal Street, and the Riverfront, each of which originates downtown but takes you different parts of the city.
The new Canal Streetcar takes thousands of locals and tourists to work and play each day as it travels the five-and-a-half mile route from the French Market, along Canal Street through the Central Business District of New Orleans and into the Mid-City area. The line ends at City Park Avenue and the historic city cemeteries.

A 5 minute walk from your apartment is the North Carrollton Avenue Streetcar line.
A spur line along North Carrollton Avenue connects Canal Street to City Park at Beauregard Circle, where riders can enjoy a 1500-acre urban Eden filled with centuries-old oak trees, an elegant botanical garden, a charming storybook village, and a host of family activities.

Guest Access

Back patio is a shared space (with us). There are three tables with chairs, a deck with a variety of seating, an outside day bed, covered sitting area with ceiling fan and a charcoal grill. All at your disposal.

  • The back condo was nice. Cozy for a single or couple. Definitely got great air condition for the summer heat. Very nice couple.

  • Renée, Freddie and their family (pups included) are beautiful people! We very much enjoyed staying in the cabana, hanging out in the court yard and sharing some thoughts with our hosts. The cabana is just as described: comfortable, spacious and welcoming. Renée and Freddie are the most helpful hosts I've ever met and they made sure we had everything we needed.

  • Renee and Freddy are the best! They are so welcoming and great hosts. They are also incredibly responsive to any requests. The studio is extremely comfortable, and has basically anything you would need. The courtyard right outside the studio is perhaps the highlight. It is quite decorated and fantastic to hang out at. The place is conveniently located next to the fairgrounds with wonderful restaurants and houses in the neighborhood, and fairly easy to get into the rest of town. Enjoy!

  • Renée and Fred were terrific hosts! Their home was located in a beautiful and conveniently located neighborhood . They provided us with plenty of recommendations to experience the local culture (and even bicycles to get around.) They were very friendly and accommodating. We'll definitely be back! Thanks!

  • This is a gem of a place! When we arrived, our hosts had chilled wine waiting on us! Fred and Renee were both extremely helpful with information about getting around, restaurants, and live music venues. Parking was no hassle, and the space had everything we needed or could have ever asked for. I highly recommend to anyone who had been to New Orleans previously or to new comers. I honestly cannot think of any negative feedback!

About
We are a local couple who have lived at this location for over 16 years. We have rented the cottage out countless times and truly enjoy meeting new people and exposing them to our wonderful city. Over the years our cottage has become a home away from home for many people and often the next generation considers it home as well. My wife and I are extremely well tapped in to the music, art and culinary pulse of the city. Because of that we feel it is our responsibility to pass on our connections and insight to our guests...or a stranger on the street! Our neighborhood is ideally positioned for everything! Seriously, its why we live here. Uptown, Downtown, French Quarter, Marigny, River Bend, City Park and the Lake Front are all easily accessible by either walking, biking, paddling or the street car.
