Our farm with cattle, horses and chickens lies in the heart of West Cork, an area renowned for its beauty and hospitality. We are a short stroll (exactly 1km) along a country road from Ballydehob with pubs, shops, cafes and a restaurant.
The bedrooms are on the east side of our house with views of Mount Kid. One is a double and the other a twin room, so is suitable for couples, a small family or students. The 2 rooms share a bathroom with a bath and electric shower. We provide bedlinen and bathtowels for your stay. There is a complementary self-service breakfast of juice, home-made toast or bread, and tea or coffee. I can also provide eggs (E2) or a full Irish of sausages, bacon and eggs (E5). Well-behaved pets are welcome for E5 a night. there is wifi, TV and a selection of DVDs for your use, and abundant car park space. The accomodation is upstairs and unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs. Please be aware that we have cats and dogs so our home is not suitable if you have allergies.
Location: Ballydehob is an hour and a half drive from Cork. If you are coming by bus (237 from Cork) or hitching we can pick you up in the village (by prior arrangement).
Activities: Ballydehob is within easy driving distance of the peninsulas of Mizen, Sheeps Head and Beara, with scenic walking along dramatic clifftops and glimpses of whales and dolphins, and there are ferries if you want to explore the islands of Sherkin and Cape Clear. the towns of Schull, Skibbereen (both with farmers markets) and Bantry (with its Friday market) are all within a fifteen minute drive. For those souls hardy enough to brave the Atlantic, the closest swimming beach is 10 minutes by car. there's golf courses, horse-riding, tennis courts, a thriving archery club and a nascent horseback archery group. And finally, for those who like to take it easy, an abundance of good food in cafes and pubs throughout the area.
