Studio has a sunny deck, beautiful art, Moroccan rugs & faces the courtyard, not street! Very warm & cozy in the winter. All the benefits of being in the city ctr without the noise/hassle. With the pool it's very 'Didion by day, Lynchian by night' :)
*Updated* - new curtains, art, and cushions! Odd lighting on the iPhone, but it looks great in person. Navy block-out curtains for night, and sheer white for day.
Hi all, Airbnb has been an amazing experiment to share the studio and create an inspired experience for my guests. Looking forward to continuing the journey...
I'm just trying out Instant Booking, but it's always good to send an introductory note first. I'll get back to you right away to confirm. :)
The studio is well insulated and not situated street-side, so you'll hear no street or neighbor noise - plus it looks out onto the sweet courtyard from its own deck. The neighborhood, Lower Pac Heights, is also very safe, especially given its proximity to downtown. The apartment is a quick 10-15 minute MUNI or cab ride to most locations in the downtown/SOMA area. Also an easy walk for the city explorers.
I've lived in a number of apartments in the city, but now I think I've hit the jackpot. :) The building is in great shape and the studio is the warmest I've had - and unfortunately, it can be an issue in SF. I run cold, but somehow rarely need to turn the central heater on. The apartment faces west and receives lots of direct sunlight from mid-morning on. It makes for a cozy stay - even in our foggy, cold summers. :) At the same time, with the blinds pulled and curtains drawn, it blocks out almost all light if you want to sleep in! Also, no bug issues of any kind (again, endemic SF issue :(, awesome shower/tub with great water pressure, and good WiFi. Also - just added two new light fixtures!
The studio has a fully stocked kitchen, with breakfast goods for all guests. :) Love to cook? The kitchen has a set of Ginsu knives, food processor/blender, juicer, dining set, all pots/pans, full stone dinnerware, etc. For morning extras, I have a french press for coffee/tea and a teakettle, with ground Lavazza coffee in the fridge, and a large amount of tea in the cupboards.
The bed is very comfy - pillow-top with a new mattress pad, and new pillows. There will be fresh towels & bedding for all guests. If needed, there are four folding chairs in the closet for dining that match the fold-out table - dark wood, black leather seats. And there's a great hand-made noodle house down the block, if you want to treat yourself to a dinner in. Otherwise, it's a 5-10 minute walk to some of the top-rated restaurants, bars, & movie theaters in the city!
Recent update, not shown in photos: the desk has a new 22" wide-screen monitor & JBL mini-subwoofer/speakers. It's handy if you want a larger screen & sound for your laptop/mobile to surf the net or watch movies at home.
For the eco-friendly set: the studio has all natural soaps and cleaning products, canvas bags for shopping, a good water filter (no need for bottled water), and recycling/compost.
The pool is an amazing bonus, and the courtyard is a sweet spot for sunny lounging and reading, especially given our mild climate. Extra towels provided on request. And the courtyard has more tables and lounge chairs than shown, with a large BBQ on the left. For the bikers: the building has 2 secure bike racks.
We have one of the best grocery stores in the city right around the corner - Whole Foods. If you want to save the budget, you can walk just a few more blocks to another local favorite - Trader Joes. The nearest drugstore, Walgreens, is also a few blocks away.
And I just created a big email with my favorite unknown/sweet spots in the city. Will send on confirmation.
And if needed, there might be flexibility on check-in/check-out times, just drop a note!
Interaction with Guests
Depending on your dates, there's a good chance I'll be there to hand off or pick up the keys. Also, I'm a quick call or text away if you have any questions or need advice during your stay! SF has been my home for over a decade, so I'm happy to help my guests with insider tips or recommendations to help make it your best trip yet.
The apartment is located in the lower portion of Pacific Heights just near Lafayette Park. We have two additional nearby parks - also great for short or long runs. If you're a runner, I'll send a map of my favorite trail starting from the apartment. :) It's blocks away from a number of historical landmarks and some of the city's finest restaurants, bars, and cafes! I've assembled a list of my top neighborhood picks in the listing's Airbnb Guidebook.
Down the street you have the post office, a large Walgreens pharmacy, and 3 international banks with ATMs. Even more importantly - the neighborhood has a very low crime rate. Good general tip: SFPD has an online crime map, never a bad thing to check in looking at neighborhoods (even Nob Hill, unfortunately, has some dodgy blocks).
You're very close to Union Square, Chinatown, North Beach, The Ferry Building along the Embarcadero, and access to major public transit like BART, CALTRAIN, & MUNI. You're two blocks away from the biggest bus lines in SF, and the cable car route! Parking for the apartment is on the street - but this is one neighborhood where it isn't that difficult to find street parking. It's also an easy walk or run to the lush wooded area of Presidio Park - a total jewel in the city.
Other Things to Note
More about me... Growing up, my parents were always gracious hosts, and I love continuing the lineage. Happy to help with SF advice, offbeat/unknown recommendations, or referrals for local services.
To help keep the studio clean, please leave shoes at the door. :) It's a quiet building with lovely, respectful neighbors - so not the place if you're up for loud music/parties. More of a relaxed urban sanctuary, in the heart of the city.
Safety-wise, just make sure the doorknob & deadbolt are locked when leaving. As per usual, no smoking inside. Otherwise, please feel comfortable and at home in the studio.
On check-out, no need to remove the sheets/linens or any towels, you can leave as-is for the cleaners. :)
Brig was very well organised, helpful and thoughtful in getting me settled into the SF neighbourhood, and that was much appreciated. The address is quite central and it is easy to connect to the city. Whole Foods - for those you want organic food - is just around the corner, and that was such a bonus for me. The studio is small and the building is noise sensitive, but everything is there to make your stay comfortable. It is also very clean. Thank you Brig
When my friend came to visit California for the first time, I booked us a week at Brig's studio and it was great - Brig was communicative; the room was comfortable; the location was convenient. While we spent most of our days out, coming back always felt like home. The listing is quirky, but endearing, and somehow simultaneously rigorously clean AND extensively decorated.
Brig! just awesome! she's an amazing guest! the place was cozy, close to town, great neighborhood! just what I needed! I'll be back for sure!
Great studio centrally located and easy access to everywhere. Very comfortable bed ;-)
Easy access and very responsive to any requests. I had a lovely stay.
Brig was a fantastic host. The apartment nice and clean. We can warmly recommend to rent from Brig!
Lovely flat, brilliant location. Brig made me feel really welcome and was incredibly helpful when I had any problems. Loved staying here! Would definitely stay again
I miss my old traveling life and hosting interesting visitors, and have had great success with Airbnb in my first year. I organize the occasional dinner party & salon and love art, literature, and easy laughter. I'm a Vipassana meditator, LGBT friendly (of course), and I've had some great opportunities to live/travel/adventure abroad. :)
Excited to meet new guests and distant travelers. Welcome to our amazing city!
