Urban Oasis @ Urban Farm-Grand Lake

Bed & Breakfast - Entire home/apt · Walker Avenue, Oakland, CA 94610, United States

The Space

This newly built, well lit, spacious in-law unit is self standing and in the middle of our backyard urban farm. The unit has one Queen bed.
From the unit's window one can see (and sometimes hear) chickens and a vegetable garden. Kitchenette includes electric kettle and mini refrigerator. Complementary coffee and tea.
This Urban Oasis is located in the heart of Oakland's vibrant Lakeshore District, with a walk score of 97! No car needed. A few gems very nearby include the hip coffee shops such as Boot & Shoe, a fabulous cooperative bakery, Arizmendi, great restaurants, an independent bookstore, Walden, the beautiful art deco Grand Lake Theater, and the natural lake, Lake Merritt, where we once had jelly fish come in from the Bay! This is also a child friendly neighborhood with two playgrounds within walking distance, a local library with story hours, and Fairyland at Lake Merritt.
Easy access to downtown San Francisco one block away. One can catch the NX or NL bus or ride casual carpool. Another option-- catch BART which is a 35 minute pleasant walk past Lake Merritt. Commute time is 10 minutes from 19th street downtown Oakland to S.F downtown.
We offer breakfast with farm fresh eggs and produce grown on site if scheduled in advance. We look forward to hosting you at our unique urban farm!

  • Dipak was a great host. The apartment is cozy, and a perfect fit for anyone looking to stay in one of the Bay Area's best neighborhoods. I would recommend this apartment to anyone!

  • It was great to stay in this Urban Oasis. It was in the perfect location for my Oakland trip. It was a very comfortable space to retreat in. All the communication was very smooth. I would consider staying here again.

  • The space was very comfortable. The kitchenette is well stocked, and Trader Joe's is in walking distance to pick up staples. We appreciated that it was a separate and private area. Dipak was very responsive and helpful.

  • It hurts us to do this review, because we have to give this place a perfect rating. Now everyone will want to stay there and it may not be available when we want to stay again. But... the space is beautiful; the bed comfortable; the location is around the corner from Oakland restaurants, a great gelato place and a terrific bookstore. Despite being so conveniently close to Grand Ave, when you close the windows; there's no street noise at all. The host is a very nice guy and very accommodating. The only negative I can add is that if the morning light wakes you, the skylights would make that problem without a mask. Please ignore this review and keep this place available when we want it. Thanks.

  • We had a very enjoyable stay. The cottage is tucked away behind the home at the address; you need to walk to the backyard to get to it. The accommodations are cozy but nice. Dipak was very welcoming and responsive.

  • My wife and I wanted a clean, quiet, convenient, private and reasonably priced place to stay while visiting our daughter in Oakland. Dipak's place more than met our expectations--I highly recommend this accomodation. Very nice location, around the corner from coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and a great bookstore with a good selection of new and used books.

  • Dipak was very communicative and easy to coordinate with. Though minimal, the space is clean, bright, and in a fantastic location right off Grand. Would stay here again for sure!

  • I stayed at the urban oasis for a month while working in Downtown Oakland. The location is great. I was able to walk to work and dinner and shopping. Parking can be a bit tricky. The room was comfortable and homey and neat. I felt very safe there too, which means a lot to me. I was basically a hermit when I was there - just coming home from work and relaxing, and I appreciated that Dipak checked in to see if I needed anything, but basically I felt like I had my own private little house for the month. The bed and linens and towels were all very nice and comfortable as well. Thank you for hosting me.

About
I live in the beautiful city of Oakland, CA. I enjoy the diversity, creativity and the temperate climate this city. We have a vibrant foodie scene and I love to explore the new food spots popping up. In addition, I love listening to live music, especially jazz. I enjoy running around our beautiful Lake Merritt and biking the hills of Oakland and Berkeley-- some of the best bike rides in the country, I'm told!
