Private apartment above a garage in a lushly landscaped yard. Queen bed, vaulted ceilings, walk-in shower, gorgeous built-in maple cabinetry, recessed lighting, mini-kitchen including counter-height fridge, microwave, toaster oven, hotplate and coffee maker. Not a full kitchen. Gleaming cherry floors. Flat-screen TV, cable, CD/DVD, wi-fi, pool and hot tub, laundry. Koi pond with waterfall lulls you to sleep. Private parking. I have bikes for you to use to explore the waterfront or downtown. Friendly dog and two cats share the fenced triple lot. There are sitting areas for you by the pond and pool. High-end but homey, great for a romantic getaway or a business traveller. You can be close to everything but in a safe, pretty neighborhood. The neighborhood is called Old Northeast and it's the main waterfront historic district, with many houses built in the 20's and 30's, brick streets, granite curbs and mature trees. It's only 2 blocks to the waterfront from here. You can bike right downtown and see dolphins and manatees on the way. Come visit my jungle!
This apartment is behind our home so I just would request respect for our property and that of the neighbors. I live here with my two kids, age 12 and 14. We are happy to share our yard, and there's a lot of it. Drive carefully, generally behave yourselves, no nudity in the yard and no smoking please.
It was great meeting Sidney! He place was super easy to find and her place is very very cool! She left town right after I got there! but was very sweet and made me feel right at home. Had plenty of directions laid out for me to know all about the property and I felt great being there. Best part of her place was the location! The neighborhood was extremely beautiful and was great to just wonder in. I got myself some Ice Cream from the local place around the corner at least once a day and just wondered the streets. had everything I could have needed and look forward to going back in the future!
The flat was lovely and exactly as described. Sidney was a great host. Location was convenient to downtown St.Pete. Less so to the beaches.
The studio look exactly as it does in the pictures. Everything we needed was provided. We had a great stay, although we were not there much. There was too much to do.
Sidney met us at the apartment and chatted with us to give useful information about the apartment and the area. We enjoyed the the neighborhood as it was quiet and very pretty. The apartment was spacious, peaceful, clean and comforting just like home. Sidney's property was very shady, you felt like you were in the tropics.
Very comfortable accommodation, just as pictured. Lovely garden and perfect location - safe and established area. It was very close to the museums, art gallery and upscale restaurants and shopping we enjoy, as well as a short drive to the beaches. The bikes were fantastic to explore the local neighbourhood with and we found the ability to do laundry very helpful.
The wifi wasn't at all reliable. Usually to even locate the network we had to leave the accommodation and stand in the yard close to the main house. Even then it was very slow... Maybe not a big deal for everyone, but for two professionals traveling from Canada, not having reliable access to our emails and work updates was a nuisance. We ended up not spending much time at the accommodation, instead seeking out coffee shops that offered wifi.
It would have been nice to enjoy the pool, having chosen the accommodation largely based on the photos of the yard. Unfortunately it looked like it needed a good cleaning from all the floating debris.
We weren't sure how welcome we were... Our reception felt a little frosty and we had no contact with the host after that.
I'm glad you loved the apartment and the location. I'm sorry that you found other aspects disappointing. I have the pool service come weekly. I prefer a natural environment to a screen cage, so leaves do get in the pool a bit. I haven't been in it yet this year but if you'd expressed interest in using it, I would have cleaned it for you myself. I am always available by phone or text, so if you'd told me that you were having difficulties with the wifi I could have rebooted my system. And as for a frosty reception, well, after I set you up on my bikes and we had a lengthy conversation about area restaurants you seemed pretty cheerful. I try not to bother my guests during their stay. You were only here for two days, you're on vacation and I make it clear that you can reach me with any questions or concerns. I have found that some people prefer complete privacy and some enjoy more interaction. I will try to be more attuned to that in the future. Thanks for your feedback.
Loved our stay with Sidney in St Petersburg- she's a great host, the historic neighborhood is beautiful & there is so much to see and do nearby. And the studio space is very cozy and welcoming..I'd definitely recommend it!
We had a great time at Sidney's. She was a gracious hostess, and her studio was clean, quiet, private, and well-situated. Couldn't ask for more.
I'm a 45-year-old real estate investor in St. Petersburg, FL. I like traveling and having new experiences. I played ultimate frisbee for many years, and now I play a lot of tennis. I'm into good food and drinks and art and shops and music and books. My mother told me: If it's going to be funny later, it might as well be funny now
