The good - amazing location / super charming building / great communication with host - great wine bar, corner coffee place, supermarket all downstairs ..
The bad - nasty kitchenette - horror show of a shower -( just shower - the rest is good ) Heat is off during the day .. So Prob best to book during spring and summer + apt decor can use a facelift ..
The host has property managers who were waiting for us at the apartment. They conducted the check in process very efficiently and oriented us to the area and gave us some tips about things to do etc.
The apartment is as described and was very comfortable for our part of 3. I am relatively tall but comfortably fit on the pull out couch and the bedroom (no door) was comfortable as well. It is also in a great area which is very walkable and close to everything.
The only thing I was not a fan of us was the tight shower. It is difficult to shower without spilling water all over the bathroom but small price to pay for what was otherwise a great place! Definitely would recommend to others.
We spent 5 nights at this apartment and feel compelled to share our experience.
First the good. The apartment is located relatively close to some tourist sites, shopping and a Metro station. Also, it is located on a quiet street. The arranged pickup at the airport and apartment check-in were smooth. The bed was comfortable. The Internet connection was good.
Now for the not so good. The washing machine did not work while we were there. We reported it and it was allegedly repaired, except it wouldn't turn on the next time we tried.
The shower is unbelievably small and requires great caution and dexterity to clean oneself without, at the same time, flooding the floor. This was a skill I could not master in 5 days. This shower must have been designed for dwarfs or contortionists. Further, there are no places for soap or shampoo in the shower.
Although the apartment will physically accommodate four adults, you had better be very close friends as there is no privacy - all areas are open. The downstairs sleeping is a pull-out sofa.
There is no heating available in the building during the daytime hours. There is only one set of keys which complicates logistics. There is no trash bin in the upstairs and one small bin for the entire apartment. Minimal towels are provided (some of which are required for drying the bathroom floor after showering). A number of light bulbs were burnt out and one was actually broken.
Would we stay here again? In a word, "No."
We are disappointed that the guests were not entirely happy with their stay. We thank for the feedback as if things can be improved in the apartment, it is always useful.
As mentioned in the review, there are many good points about the apartment and the area.
There were problems with the washing machine whilst the guests were staying at the apartment - resulting in only one wash being possible. When the handy man came to fix the machine, he was able to turn it on without any problem.
Regarding the layout of the apartment and the shower, these are both things that are covered by other reviews and the description and photos on the apartment website.
The heating in the apartment is controlled by the condominium, and is on for a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening, as is common in many Italian apartments.
The owner has now provided a second set of keys.
One large and one small towel are provided for each guest during their stay, and more can be provided if they are requested.
There were a couple of burnt out bulbs on the mirror in the bathroom, but not in the rest of the house. These have been substituted straight away.
We stayed here in Sept 2014. The place is as in the photos: very nice living room with (non-working) fireplace, comfortable couch, two large windows, one on each side, that allow cross-ventilation on hot days (and it was HOT when we were here--mid 80s F with high humidity); narrow kitchen with oven range (unusual in Italy) with dishes, plates, pots and pans etc); smallish but fine loft balcony upstairs, and small bathroom upstairs with tiny shower (curtain only), toilet, sink and washing machine. The only probably with the place is the bathroom, frankly (can't expect larger kitchens in Italy). The shower is tiny and easy to get water on floor, the washing machine holds very little (and as usual in EU, no dryer) and the toilet cover broke while we were here as it wasn't affixed properly. To the owner's credit he has a wonderful city manager, Nicola, who was right on the broken toilet seat and a day later the handyman cam over and fixed it. Nicola was a great, welcoming host and receptive via phone or email to any problem. I would say for any visit of a month or less this is a very good place to stay. It is in a WONDERFUL neighborhood, one block from shopping on Via del Campo a major shopping street, a block from Augustus' tomb and the Ara Pacis Museum, 5 minutes to Piazza del Popolo and Spanish Steps (and its Metro station), 15-20 min walk to Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiori. Nice coffee shops, wine bars, and very good restaurants in neighborhood. You could do an awful lot worse in Rome!
