THE FRONT ROOM
We would love you to stay with us in our spacious two-story home. We have two rooms available (with two people in each room). They are booked through separate Airbnb listings.
The Front Room:
Your light and airy bedroom with a comfortable queen bed is down stairs off the hall. The guest bathroom with separate toilet is off the same hall. The dining room, kitchen and laundry are also on the ground floor. Our bedroom and bathroom are upstairs so you will have a measure of privacy. There are bathrobes and a hair-dryer for your use.
We also have a studio room separate from the house with double bed if you would like more privacy. It is just a metre from the back door. You will need to come inside to use the guest bathroom. To book this, go to the separate listing on the AirBnB website - "Sunny Studio, close to town, WIFI".
We provide a continental breakfast and you have access to the kitchen. Just around the corner are cafes, restaurants, a pub, takeaways, a minimart, off-licence, hairdressers, money machines and the Penthouse – a multi-screen art-house cinema. You have the use of a Weber BBQ on our large deck.
With its reputation as the cultural capital of New Zealand, Wellington is a compact city, perfect for walking round. Brooklyn is an inner city suburb – it is just a short fifteen-minute stroll down through Central Park to the vibrant Cuba quarter and another five minutes to the jewel in Wellington’s crown – the waterfront. You can drive in three minutes or catch a bus from the stop right outside the door.
From the airport, grab a cab or shuttle (cheaper). We are 3 km from the ferry or train station - take a taxi or a bus which will drop you outside our door. Most of the time, I can pick you up (fee may apply).
Smoking outside please.
We received a warm welcome from Howard and Joan. The room was well organised and the bed was very comfortable. The bus into town goes past the front door and the local shops are around the corner. Street parking was no problem. Howard and Joan were always ready to help with good advice and suggestions on where to go in Wellington.
Howard and Joan were exceptional hosts and very friendly. I would thoroughly recommend staying with them.
Our stay (2 nights) in Howard and Joan's house was very pleasant. They are welcoming hosts and they gave us some good tips. Those who need more recommendations, Howard has created a little folder which is in the room. The rich and good breakfast was set up every morning in the kitchen. Yummy. The centre, cuba street and the Wellington waterfront are be easily reached by foot. Very recommendable.
Good, clean room, beautiful kitchen and dining area. Although I only had one day in Wellington, Howard came prepared with a manual of recommendations of things to do and see. The breakfast of cereal and toast was also very much appreciated.
Wonderful hosts, great comfortable room and lovely house. Didn't stay long but would have loved to! The ride to the ferry was much appreciated. Thanks again!
We had a fantastic time at Howard and Joan's place. They are very welcoming hosts who gave us some good advices on Wellington and also treks on the North Island. Every morning the good and simple breakfast was set up from 7.30am in the morning. The house is very nice and clean. It is located in a residential area on one of the hill looking over Wellington centre. It is a good 15/20 minutes down to Cuba street by foot through a very nice park or other residential roads. Steep to go back up but we did it 3 times at night and it was very enjoyable and safe. We had the room at the front (there is another one in a new shed at the back) and thought it was of an excellent size, bright, quiet at night and with a comfortable bed. I would highly recommend to stay here when you come to Wellington. 5 stars.
Howard and Joan were hearty welcoming us. They were quite friendly and helpful.
The house is comfortable, clean and quiet. Especially kitchen and living room with terrace was wonderful. The house was located hillside residential area and there were a nice restaurant, hamburger shop, food stores, and also ATM etc. near the house. Very convenient! It was first time for us to visit Wellington and we had a lot of fun memories to Howard and Joan. Many thanks to you both!
