Omg, wonderful experience. My first time in Costa Rica and staying in a hostel. I had a great time and would recommend this place to everyone, because when i return i will definitely come back here.
One of the best hostel I've stayed in. Clean and cosy common areas, very welcoming and friendly. you will meet new people and make friends. magdalena and gabriel has been very helpful and kind. great location, convenient to get around and really near the supermarket.
I felt right at home here. Gabriel was friendly and helpful, Magdelena was very nice and their boys so cute! I made friends at the hostel and got to explore San Jose. I stayed for two nights and slept comfortably and soundly each night. The lemon juice for breakfast my first morning tasted fresh and delicioso. I also loved having fresh coffee whenever I liked. Great start to my trip.
The hosts were absolutely wonderful. They were incredibly helpful and friendly. They had lots of good advice and would even help with making any phone calls to reserve tours as well.
I booked at Nomadas for a week, nothing to complain about. It's a simple, clean place with easy access to the city and not in a busy area. At Nomadas you will get to meet Gabriel and his family, all of whom are very friendly and helpful. This is a good place to start your journey, and if you don't yet know what you want to do they have many suggestions. San Jose itself is lacking in things to do unless you know exactly what you want from it, I would recommend staying for only a couple days and using it as a 'base' between destinations.
I initially booked my stay at Nomadas because it was so close to the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica (National Stadium). I was going to a concert there and wanted to be within walking distance of the stadium to avoid the traffic after the concert. This turned out to be a great decision because traffic looked horrible when the concert was over. Within walking distance of Nomadas is a nice park, many restaurants and bars, coffee shops, grocery stores, and shops. The Tica bus station and other bus stations are not far away either.
Now to talk about Gabriel and Nomadas. I have to admit I was impressed by Gabriel and his level of service. Gabriel was very hospitable and went out of his way to help us on multiple occasions. As for Nomadas, it had everything I wanted and needed from a hostel: Clean showers and bathrooms, complete kitchen, lockers, wifi, an open common area with hammocks, foosball, and flatscreen tv with cable channels including premium channels like HBO and Cinemax. The property is gated and located within a very nice neighborhood. You will feel safe here.
If you're looking to relax and enjoy the best of San Jose, this is a great place to make your home.
We only stayed here for a few hours before flying out of San Jose, but Gabriel and Magdalena were very kind and helpful. Gabriel even drove me to the airport in the early morning for a small fee so that we wouldn't have to worry about cabs. Definitely a hostel, but very clean.
Gabriel was very nice and accommodating. He allowed me to leave my bags in his home a day early so I could travel a bit without the weight of a big pack. His communication was prompt and he was easy to get ahold of with questions. Thank you! I had a private room, which was one of the smaller dorm rooms. The walls are quite thin, though so noise-wise it felt as if I were in a shared room. So if I come back I would likely choose to save $15 by staying a shared room. I had a good experience though.
It's a nice place to spend your time in San Jose. Gabriel and Magdalena are helpful to show everything inside hostel and to tell where to go and what to see in the city. It's located in a safe neighborhood and the outside gate is locked at all times. It has good showers, lockers and beds. I couldn't think anything negative about this place!
