Welcome to our very sunny double room with fresh linens, fresh towels and a wardrobe completely empty for all your luggage and treasures you find in Barcelona.
While the room is only big enough for unwinding and sleeping, it is adjacent to a 60 sqm terrace, the living room and kitchen. It's on the far side of the apartment, so it can feel like you have a whole one bedroom apartment to yourselves. The room was recently refurbished and everything is brand new. It is VERY sunny, but has the benefit of a full blind if you prefer to sleep in darkness. The bathroom is shared if there are other guests in the apartment, but it is huge, with a walk-in rain-shower.
We are centrally located in the old town with easy access to Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya, museums and metro stops. Staying here is with in a 5 minute walk of the famous Tickets Restaurant, MACBA, and on this street Restaurant Cera 23, which is #2 on TripAdvisor restaurants, and NeverMore with a former El Buli chef who teaches cooking classes every Tuesday.
Staying here means you only have to walk up 1 1/2 flight of stairs and have access to a gourmet, American-style, open kitchen. You can cook for yourself from what you have purchased at La Boquria, a short walk away, and use the dishwasher. When you don't want to leave, there is a 60 sqm terrace with a BBQ. If you are a couple, it's amazing to see the stars in such a city on the terrace with a glass of cava.
Hope to meet you soon!
Please note: Check In after 22:00 is subject to an extra 20 euro fee payable directly to the person who checks you in. Thanks.
Smoking is not allowed inside the apartment, but it is fine on the terrace or balcony. If you are a smoker, please empty the ashtrays after you have used them.
In order to respect our neighbours all cooking, music, or other noise will need to stop at 10pm and due to neighbours complaints no body on the terrace after 10pm please.
Dogs are welcome. Sorry, we're allergic to cats.
You are welcome to use the kitchen for breakfast and preparing lunch but please ask me if you want to do some more "serious" cooking, especially in the evening. Please respect that you are in my home and clean up after yourself.
Reasonable use of condiments (olive oil, salt, pepper, spices) but if you use more, it would be nice if you chipped in a few Euros for supplies.
We have a washing machine for clothes that you are free to use for Euros 5.
We stayed in David's flat for 5 days. David wasn't able to check us in but we had the key without any problem. The flat is quite nice but we cannot use the terrace after 10 o'clock in the evening because of the neighbours. We were 9 people in the same flat. The bedroom is a little bit small and gets quite warm. The only unconfortable surprise was because someone let a mess and some weed in the kitchen. David sent me a personal message about it and he did the same for all people living in the flat. I don't appreciate to be accused of something I'm not responsible ! We cleaned the mess. When I finally met him, I didn't receive more explanation even if I sent him a message to clarify this situation...
Dear Florian, Thanks for the feedback. I have a zero drugs policy in my apartment. I found the drugs on the dining table in the kitchen. In full view of everyone. I disposed of them immediately. In addition the place was also an absolute state and looked as though you and the other guests had had a party in my apartment the night before. As you were out I left a note and an email to both you and the other guests. It was the same to both of you, asking you to clean the apartment and that there were to be no drugs I didn't accuse anyone of anything, I have no idea who bought the drugs into my home or who made the mess, and frankly I don't care. I just want people to respect my place when they stay there. I asked you and the other guests to take responsibility for the mess and the illegal substances. Which I´m pleased to say you all did by cleaning the apartment. When I met you I thanked you and in return you apologised. I accepted the apology and said we didn't need to speak any more on the issue as the apartment had been cleaned and it was clear that I did not want illegal drugs in my home. I´m not sure exactly what you are trying to say in the review but in the end it all worked out and Im glad you liked the apartment. However, I cannot recommend you as a guest for other AirBnb hosts for fairly obvious reasons.
This room is exactly as described: small but nice with a closet for clothes, and a window and fan. We were there for a week in August and it was not all that hot (24 degrees C), but due to the smallness the room tended to heat up a lot, and the fan did not help much at night. The bed is a "full size" bed (I think 140 cm wide) which is normal for Barcelona but was too small for us considering the heat, and my boyfriend being a big man. There are blinds on the window so if you need it dark to sleep, this is nice. Also nice is that this room is the only one on the back side of the apartment so you don't get any street noise, and since the other two rooms are front side and next to each other, you have a little more privacy than the other two rooms. The terrace is not a rooftop terrace. It is surrounded on 3 sides by tall houses and windows and balconies who all look out on the terace. Therefore it cannot be used after 10 p.m. because the neighbors call the police when they hear noises. There are two bathrooms in the apartment and they were clean and spacious. Be aware that you have to provide your own toilet paper. Towels are provided. The kitchen is clean and well equipped if small and does have some provisions like noodles, muesli, and other cereals, not sure how old they were. We did not touch them. The trash can could be a little bigger. With 6-8 people staying there, it tended to overflow. Be aware that David rents out two more rooms (with a max of 3 people per room) so you may be 6-8 people sharing the apartment if all rooms are rented. David does not seem to live there at all, so if you aim at experiencing Barcelona with the help of a local, this might not be the right place for you. He has a nice housekeeper to welcome guests and you have to call her when you arrive. She will come only after receiving your call, so we had several couples wait for almost half an hour at the appointed time and she only came over after they finally called her up. The housekeeper speaks Spanish only. We never met David but he was available and answered our questions via email or phone when we contacted them. David seems to be a nice and helpful guy. We had no problems with him whatsoever. The location of the place is great. The apartment is in an old part of town that is not quite as chic as Born or Gotic, but still nicely old, with quite a few immigrants, and thus tends to be cheap as far as coffee (or haircuts= 4 €!!) are concerned. It is strategically located between Rambla, Gotic, Born and their sights on one side, and Montjuic with...
My girlfriend and I stayed at David's place for one week and our stay have been both positive and a bit negative.
The apartment is the same as you see in the picture - nice and clean.
Central place compared to the rambla.
David was helpful and fast to answer us on mail.
Even though the apartment is located near centrum, the area is kind of ghetto.
David's cleaning lady who should welcome us was late and kind of rude (and then she doesn't speak English)
In a period there was no internet and no hot water.
Our room was small and very very hot.
Dear Anas, Glad you enjoyed your (website hidden) the hot water. As you know Zara came to the apartment and we spoke on the phone about this and between us we agreed we could not find a problem. For the internet, the router needed to be reset. Which you managed to do successfully. As for calling the old town of Barcelona a "ghetto"? Well you are entitled to your opinion.
We stayed in David flat for 10 days. David was not able to check us in, so a spanish lady who could only speak spanish let us in. After the tour of the flat she asks us for money, which was quite uncomfortable - we had already payed our stay through airbnb. The flat is quite nice, the terace is lovely, just a shame you cannot use it after 10 o´clock in the evening because of the neighbours. The bedroom is small and gets quite warm duing the night. The area has some quite nice restaurants, but the flat is at least 15 min walk from placa de catalunya.
Dear Klaus, Thanks for your feedback. For all check in´s after 22:00 I have to ask for 20.00 euro charge. Hope you understand that this is to offset the inconvenience of a late check in. Also yes, the terrace cannot be used after 22:00. In fact in Barcelona it is illegal to use any residential terrace after 21:00 and the police can come and fine you. My neighbours kindly put up with the noise until 22:00. After that you have to go inside the apartment or to a bar with a terrace. Thanks for your understanding. David.
We had a great stay in David's. Ideally situated we enjoyed everything about the city. It was our first experience with "airbnb" and we'll certainly do it again.
I highly recommend David's place; go for it!

I am a Brit living in Barcelona with a keen interest in food, culture, architecture, music and anything unusual. I love to meet new people as well as hang out with old friends and am very social, enjoying pretty much everything Barcelona has to offer. I've lived in many different places and am a huge fan of this city and consider Barna (Not Barca, thats the football team) to be pretty much the best city in the world. I'll try my best to convince you of this by sharing my home, hospitality and knowledge of La Ciudad Condal. Hope to see you soon.
